Authorities in Damshung county in the Tibet autonomous region announced on Thursday that the Khukchung Gangri Glacier Scenery Site is now open to the public.
Khukchung Gangri, also known as the No 1 Glacier of the Lhasa Valley, is the nearest glacier to the regional capital, Lhasa. It first opened to the public in 2019.
Tsering Lhashung, a manager at Damshung County Changthang Culture and Tourism Development, said it takes less than three hours to drive from Lhasa to the site entrance, about 5,500 meters above sea level.
