View Comments Starting Wednesday, in keeping with new federal and New York state guidelines, Tops Friendly Markets will no longer require face masks for customers who are fully vaccinated against COVID-19. People are considered fully vaccinated two weeks after receiving the second dose of either the Pfizer or Moderna vaccines or two weeks after getting a single dose of the Johnson & Johnson vaccine. Unvaccinated people must continue to wear face masks in Tops stores, spokesperson Kathleen Sautter explained in an email. Customers will not need to show proof of vaccination but will be on the honor system, she said. The same policy applies for Tops workers, and those who want to wear face coverings may continue to do so, she said.
