Humid overnight with lows of 13 Celsius so tomorrow will feel a little bit fresh a bit more of a breeze will be some good spells of sunshine around through the 1st part of the day but that cloud will thicken up through the morning and rather like today there are some showers on it which have the potential to be heavy and fundraise and they will be dotted here and there through the afternoon not everyone will see them they will be hit and miss but catch one and they could be quite beefy actually the showers temperatures tomorrow down on today's values 22 Celsius the maximum because of all calls and for the wash to how rich lightly are becoming sunny intervals wind force 3 wind direction Southsoutheast maximum gust 40 knots becoming 60 knots sea state slight pressure 1016 millibars visibility good I melt coals with your b.b.c. Radio Norfolk weather Thank you. Right on b.b.c. Radio 5. Hello good morning still to come on the program we have an hour left together by a good morning to you we can be hearing from a charity Prison Fellowship in a moment a Christian charity will also be finding out about a Sikh charity that's being put to start a new project really to to provide support to people with drug and alcohol addiction and the issues that they're facing at the moment and will also be catching up with the country's biggest Muslim convention has been taking place this weekend. I supply even the nights out that's a very good morning to you listen to b.b.c. Radio go for. Question Have you ever been a victim of crime if you have and you'd be willing to share your story then you could help change the laws of prisoners who have become trapped in a cycle of offending the Christian charity Prison Fellowship works to transform the lives of inmates and the group that serves while in prison in Norwich are looking for people who've experienced crime to come forward and then take part in a restore to justice. Course it's a fascinating idea and about Valentine is a volunteer with the Prison Fellowship and she's with us live in the studio thank you for coming in early doors thank you for inviting me here are more than welcome So tell us about yourself Prison Fellowship What do you do well I'm part of a team of volunteers that. Really are we support the chaplaincy in a number of different ways our mission as a prison fellowship. Organization is to show Christ's love to prisoners by coming alongside them and supporting them and believing that no one is beyond hope and that every life can be transformed and as fallen tears we see this happening which is so wonderful and this is what motivates and inspires us is it tricky to engage sometimes how do you come how do you overcome that challenge of engagement with some people who are in prison yeah it can be tricky because. They've often had such dire experiences in life that a lot of us just can't relate to really personally. But just by being real with the men listening and. Showing us showing them that we care about them we can kind of build up good relationships which is lovely us both at the success stories fever must be the the big part of what some of the difference is that you do make in people's lives or some of the the success stories that come out from from a charity work you know well I think. Through the through the q. Sycamore tree course we run we do see people completely change their attitudes and. Resolve to. Not to re of fattened and to live their lives in a different way which is good we see people coming to faith in the most remarkable ways in countering God in their cells when they cry out to him and us to despair and then they need help and support in their journey of faith. First not into the liver that isn't that enter into shirts to share with them because no one's too far away from you know different levels in service of life and society and where you do end up and what I love pleasure to pick people off it if they're willing and wanting it tempy wailin this is where you work quite closely how open is the prison service in general to the services that you provide for people oh yes on the whole live very open and supportive of a certain appreciate what we do yeah because the chaplains there are only a few chaplains looking after an awful lot of people prisoners and staff really and so. It's good that we're able to fill in some of the gaps so this could because it's a big ask you know you're going asking people to come forward. If they have been a victim of crime to talk about their experience that imagine will be traumatic for some people or a very brave thing to do what benefit do you see this having. Yeah it is indeed a brave thing to do because often. People carry their fears and pain from being a victim of crime for years afterwards. And the benefit is that when. Offenders come face to face with somebody who's willing to share their story of what happened to them and how it affected them. This we find it is a pivotal moment in the course and the offenders are really the learners there they kind of come to a place of recognizing and facing up to the effect that their crime has had on their victims on their families on themselves and on the wider community and by my facing up to them and then looking at what to how they can move on from that it's a very releasing thing and enables them to make new plans to get on with life in a better way how many people are you looking for well probably it's good to kind of interchange a bit so 2 or 3 would be wonderful coming forward with their story and would it be a case of You'd be sat down in front of the person and talking through what happened or would you would it be recorded or how do you know would be simply coming in halfway through the course. And sitting. Talking to the group of probably 20 learners. Telling them your story they are always very respectful and hugely appreciative of somebody coming in and. Then being willing to answer a few questions about it in the preface this week we heard about the success of a garden party that treats mental health with music there's a stigma still surrounds it which is absolutely Mongul I got anything I can do to help raise awareness actually break that to be is exactly what I want to achieve and why the Museum of knowledge is helping us step back in time for free this is lots of really love interactive activities of children you can try on different ways and be a judge you can look at lots of the traits and industries of knowledge is very much about social history if you missed it let's come back on b.b.c. Sounds and join me on a pair of this Saturday morning from 6 on b.b.c. a Gentle folk know part of the b.b.c. Oh she's everywhere and say. Time stopped my. Very good morning tears on a fair hit again for you on a Sunday breakfast so great to have you company this was the Stardust music sounds better with you. Music sounds a better with Good Morning tears b.b.c. Radio no food. On your right you've got headlines coming up at 730 with Clare wooden but we're going to have to have a time at the Miami because the country's biggest Muslim convention has been taking place this weekend and it's over 30000 people from more than 100 countries that have been attending along the on to 200 acre farm in Hampshire sounds glowing us now. What is it all about and why is the event being held Well Dr Fay Samantha joins me on the line now to tell us more very good morning to our use there for us good morning good morning I'm here yes our it's very nice to be speaking to you let's start right from the beginning shall we what is the author of the lama. So just a salon is an annual convention of our community the Emily a community and this is the 53rd jail for so long in the u.k. . I don't know if you know but our community has been established over a century in the u.k. So is basically sort of people coming from all around the world and always in the u.k. Attending for 'd I would say personal development but also coming together and talking about peace integration and and that is all it's about basically sounds good what was the atmosphere like is it sort of a festival atmosphere is there music or is there a lot of sit down chat What does that look like yes so we have heard the call of the does the salon is different speeches which are done by sort of people from all around the the globe but also dignitaries and then the the main focus at the end is a sort of you know address from our callous who is the 5th colors of their community and then we have different exhibit sions stalls and we have people visiting guess who would have the tour of the place around I mean there's lots happening from sort of sort of things like as I said the exhibition but also the sharing meals for all these people and I think they're hoping to get around 35000 people attending at this point Wow Well just tell me doctor say so what is life as part of the I'm a day I'm a slim community does it differ from other part of the slum. Sorry I didn't get that question very clearly but. I mean we are a part of Islam I think in certain countries we are not accepted as Muslims. Because of our belief that we believe that the promised Messiah or the person appointed. By God or by. By all are was was to come at this point for for bringing all communities all religions together and being prophesies in all big religions including Judaism Christianity and Islam and others so I think that's the main difference but on the other hand we are no different from any other Muslim community and we are based in in 210 different countries with sort of people are daring sort of in millions. Is that. I don't know this might sound like a quite ignorant question is there any bad feeling between the 3 in the different types of communities that there are. Again sorry I could you could explain that question in terms of. That one thing in the house very well though just as a different avenue of faith within Islam What's it like. It was mainly to talk about the main difference is that if that's something you'll be discussing for example or Jelf salon or this weekend I think the focus in just a salon is not about the. Any sort of issues like that the the aim of Delta salaam to you know is basically about the development of the community members. You know there are teachings of cetera but nothing to do with any as you say the differences I don't see that that's the main issue or thing but it's about the peace and the integration in community. The challenges faced by the community and solutions and guidance about it that is what it is about and it must be quite refreshing for the people who who go along to what do you take from it when you. Oh this is this is a big thing every year for myself and my family why I try always to take time off to be able to attend it it's not just the spiritual side of things but the whole community atmosphere because you see people from all nations not just Muslims but gas coming it is a remarkable sort of atmosphere I also you know my children to work as volunteers you see sir people because it's all unpaid all volunteers working all around 24 hours so this is amazing atmosphere. Forward to it every year it does sound it sounds like what Yeah one of those anniversaries that you look forward to and quite exciting for the whole family to enjoy what some of the highlights you've got coming up today well the main thing today would be for myself personally I mean we would have some speeches from the guests coming over then as I said some sort of you know some spiritual. Speeches But the main highlight would be our international buyers which is the the the so I should say the allegiance to the palace which is a big thing which would be sort of the highlight of today for myself. Well thank you very much for speaking to me Dr Fay Samantha and have a wonderful rest of we can it's been really interesting having a chat thank you very much thank you like always welcome to take care so yes sounds amazing business 30000 people for more than 100 countries attending just us alone on a 200 acre farm over in.
