we really don't know who this character is, and there are lots of possibilities. some even suggest that it was lazarus that jesus raised from the dead. >> the disciple whom jesus loved appears at the last supper. >> one of you will betray me tonight. >> ask him which one he means. >> lord, who is it? who will betray you? >> the only person in that gospel about whom it is said, "he is the one who jesus loved," is lazarus. >> the idea that lazarus might be the beloved disciple is a bit wild, but it's not without merit. it helps explain a number of things. it helps us understand why this beloved disciple only appears at that point in the narrative. well, it's after lazarus was dead and resurrected. >> jesus is betrayed by judas
