children re-learning how to care for each other. these children have experienced trauma and hardship. their emotions are bigger, their ability to build relationships is smaller. their, you know, familiarity with what it means to be in school is just not there in the same way it would be for other kids. so if you're a teacher, you're taking 25 to 30 kids into their classroom who are feeling that way and need love and patience and attention and care and you're supporting them all day, all year. and they've got to learn algebra. it's an incredible weight on teachers, because what teachers need to do most of all is the same thing we immediate to do as parents or adults with kids is to be present and loving and support them through the things that they're feeling in a way that we ourselves are calm. and that's so hard for a teacher who has been through all of this, too, as a human. >> you mentioned your wife being a teacher pipsup that she's been out protesting the conditions of educators in chicago. so that probably makes for interesting conversations in your household.
