newsroom. i'm jim acosta in washington. she is already getting stronger. we're talking about hurricane ida. hurricane ida is now a category 2 hurricane with winds of 100 miles per hour. expected to slam into the louisiana coast as a major category 4 storm tomorrow. that's right, category 4 storm tomorrow. that's the exact same date hurricane katrina made landfall 16 years ago. the national weather service warns ida could pack a storm surge up to 15 feet and winds as strong as 150 miles per hour, which could leave some locations, quote, uninhabitable for weeks or even months. a situation all too familiar for katrina survivors. even though new orleans' infrastructure officials say is better this time around and more prepared than it was for hurricane katrina, don't get complacent. this storm could be stronger than katrina, which made landfall as a category 3 storm. the urgent messages from officials are loud and clear. this is going to be serious.
