On monday, is set to hold fundraisers before delivering remarks before the General Assembly. He will talk about americas vision for leadership and make the case that countries need to Work Together to solve problems. This comes as the president tries to highlight his alliancebuilding going into the 2024 election. Mr. Biden will meet with brazils president on wednesday. And also on wednesday, he is set to sit down with israeli Prime Minister benjamin netanyahu. Its the first time they are meeting since netanyahu came back into power last year. There was questions if the meeting would occur after the white house had expressed criticism and frustration of netanyahus Government Making Reforms in that country. When the president wraps up in new york city, he will head back here to washington. On thursday, he will host president zelensky who is making rounds on capitol hill. This gives him a chance to speak about the counteroffensive under way against russia. And the meeting comes at a time when biden is pushing congress to pass more aid for ukraine. That is meeting resistance from republicans in the house. In about 15 minutes ill be speaking with a former Ukrainian Minister about what president zelensky can hope to achieve in his meeting with President Biden. Stay tuned for that. A group of House Republicans has finalized a tentative deal to temporarily fund the government. Major murderle hurdles are rais shutdown by the end of the month. The Spending Bill is being attacked by hard liners. The agreement would pcut fundin to agencies, other than defense and veterans affairs. And would include most provisions for a housepassed border bill. Former President Trump made a number of false claims on Meet The Press on sunday. In the coming hours, negotiators for the United Autoworkers are set to meet with representatives from stellantis. The union sat down with ford the day before. No new Contract Offers have been put forward since the strike deadline last thursday. We have more from a pickett line in michigan. Negotiations continue between the big three and the union. On sunday, negotiating at the main table. On saturday, it was ford. On monday, it will be stellantis. No word on a deal. The last offers in a the big three put on the table were about 20 increases and wages over four years. The union has been demanding 40 in Wage Increases for the next four years. They say theres areas on the front lines where the russians are able to fire more than the ukrainians can. Ukrainians understand that the counteroffensive is difficult and going on more slowly than they would like. At the same time, they say theres a degree of success, as the ukrainians on all areas are putting pressure on the russians while the russians are on the defensive. President zelensky will take his pleas directly to u. S. Lawmakers. Some republican members of congress are hesitant to send more money to kyiv. He will be attending the General Assembly meeting in new york. President Zelensky Heads To Washington after that. Congress is contemplating an aid package this week. He will need to make a compelling argue that they need more aid. There is some questions and some reluctance. It is important for ukraine, for president zelensky, to rally bipartisan support. To convince the members of the congress that providing ukraine with military aid, with funding, is in the interest of the world and specifically in the world of the United States of america. As you mentioned, theres a reluctance to provide more aid. The Biden Administration has been unwaivering in its support for ukraine. Can ukraine cope with less support . It will be difficult. We should understand, theres a clear tradeoff. Less support, more people die. I think if ukraine gets support, it can put sufficient pressure on russia, before the winter sets in. To be able to have a strong negotiating position or Strong Military position. This is an extensive war. Russia invaded through the front line. This is the largest conflict in europe. Largest war in europe, after world war ii. Give us a sense of the mood in kyiv. Some have expressed the disappointment at the pace of the push against russian forces. Yes. Some people debate and worry. Its natural to worry about the support. Ukraine relies on allies. Its an existential, Historical Moment for us, whether we will exist as a nation or not. Video shows kim boarding his personal Armored Train sunday, waving to local officials. Kim made several stops ahead of his departure. He spent much of the trip visiting Russian Military sites. But observers say its clear what the nations want. Russia wants ammunition. And north korea, desperate for food and technology. Military technology as it continues with the weapons program. The u. S. And allies have been watching this visit closely. They are disturbed by the deepening alliance. The u. S. Warned that arms talks were advancing between russia and north korea. But no deals publicly announced. Lets focus on chinas top diplomat. Jake sullivan met him in malta over the weekend. Now, the Chinese Foreign minister is going to meet with the Russian Foreign minister. Chinas top diplomat is currently in russia for a weeklong visit. And we know today he will be meeting with his russian counterpart. They are due to discuss a wide range of issues. They are due to discuss a settlement for ukraine and security for the asiapacific region. This comes on the back of a meeting that spanned several hours in malta with the u. S.
