Telling the truth. This is an 11th hour kitchen sink complaint here. They said they would like a different special election, or if they couldnt have that, they could investigate the fraud to see if there was an impact and if there was they could see how great it was on the results of the elections. Richard char none, hes known for peddling ideas and comments on the assassination of president john f. Kennedy, and they talk about a Statistical Analysis of the voter turnout, and they speak about Jefferson County saying that there were 20 precincts that had an anomalous turnout and thinking it should not be that way and voters being bussed in to vote. And the secretary of state said they have not found any voter fraud at this point. This is where roy moore brings up also in an affidavit after the election he had a Lie Detector Test and he passed it saying he has no sexual contact with and did not know three of the accusers. Were not really sure if any of this is going to matter. We reached out to the secretary of state and he has not gotten back to us this morning and in the past he said he did not see anything that would prevent doug jones as being sworn in as the next senator from alabama. We will see what transpires before 1 00 p. M. Local time. Thank you. We have our cnn political analyst, david trucker and josh green. We knew roy moore was not conceding, josh, but we did not know what he had up his sleeve. He says he took a polygraph test days after the election, and he says as i had expected the results of the polygraph examination reflected that i did not know nor did i have any sexual contact with any of these individuals. Unclear why he didnt take that during the election and if that would have changed anything, but he seems to be trying to claim a couple Different Things today, now, josh. It seems like a silly and desperate lastminute employ to give a pretext into this, and we have no idea who administered the polygraph and if they were valid, and he did say he did know some of his accusers during the campaign, and its clear up until now that theres no reason to think that the results of the election are invalid had it been decided by one or two votes as we saw in the Virginia State election, and then maybe there should be attention given to whether there were a few votes on the margins and that might have changed the outcome. We are talking about a margin of more than 20,000 votes. The results of the election dont seem to be contested by anybody other than roy moore, and trump has called and congratulated doug jones, a. What do you think is at play here, dave, is it hes trying to clear his name or investigate things that smell fishy in terms of turnout, and where do you think he goes from here, roy moore . I dont think he goes anywhere. The secretary of state, who is a republican, has only spoken highly of the electoral process in alabama. He made clear Election Night that he saw no problems with the outcome of the race in terms of how the election was conducted. If roy moore was really that concerned, he has the ability under alabama law to fund a recount. The fact that hes avoiding funding a recount and is seeking all sorts of really abnormal and to ask for a new election, i guess is what i am saying, is the kind of thing that is not going to be granted and is really extraordinary. He hes bypassing what is available to him. You do it immediately so you dont bump up against the certification. I dont think the secretary of state or the officials in alabama are going to grant him any deference here, so he could get lucky in a court ruling but courts are usually very hesitant to get involved in changing the outcome of elections even when they seem a little odd, they usually defer to the voters. Roy moore, as a judge, should know that. He doesnt have to concede but i dont think this is going anywhere and i think doug jones will be a senator next month. Josh, you wrote the book on steve bannon, a recent look at this, and then roy moore was bannons candidate, and do you see his fingerprint on this, the claims of impropriety . No, i dont. Which i think that roy moores lastminute claims are so weak. He lost afterwards, a couple breitbart editors came out and said frankly moore was a terrible candidate for the reasons enumerated in the complaint, because he preyed on teenagers as a grown man in alabama. Its clear thats why he lost the election. If there was abnormal voting patterns, it is that they came out and voted for a democrat in a quarter century. We have called the secretary of state and we are waiting to hear from his office. We will bring that to the viewers as soon as we have it. One last thing to bounce off you on this point, david, and we had john martin on, and he said roy moore is doing this as a fundraising employ and he will have a future in politics, unclear what that would be but thats his play here. I can see that simply because roy moore has run several times, and he has won state Supreme Court chief justice and he lost other primaries running for governor and the like and i could see roy moore rolling out of this being a martyr and primarying a statewide Office Holder next year. So many reasons the Top Republicans in alabama were afraid to stand up to him after the news of Sexual Misconduct broke, and after you had seen your republicans asking about this, and so i can see him coming out of here targeting a new race to run in, and using the outcome of this as a way to fuel that. Gentlemen, lets get your thoughts on the president s activities yesterday. The game of golfer in chief, cat and mouse continues. The white house refuses to tell us whether or not the president was playing golf for the 86th or something time we can see it. The secret Service Claims they had nothing to do with the truck, but let conspiracy theorists go with that one, and he did make a surprise appearance and made this claim about his legislative record in the first year. Its one of the things people dont understand, we have signed more legislation than anybody lets check the record. Going back to truman, hes not anywhere close to breaking any records. He did break the record for the least. For the least amount of legislation signed. David, what do you think this comes from . This is trump being trump. He has to try and pump up his record more than it is, and he did that as a Real Estate Developer and entertainer and it worked for him, and he did that as a campaigner and he won the presidency, and most president s assume whatever they did to lead to their victory must be working. Trump had a very uneven year and it started out poorly and ended well, and if he would just focus on what he did instead of invoking a record, and we talked more about what he did than what he didnt do. I always find these sorts of arguments he has in politics counter productive even though in Previous Industries i can see the value of embellishment. In politics, its helpful on the campaign trail, once you have a governing record to speak for you or not, doesnt work as well. Final word, and the other problem is in politics when you confront journalist with numbers we have videotape and records and we have a phone where we can call the Truman Library and ask them what the numbers were and then we can put it in a graphic and thats why it doesnt work as well when you see how much more legislation every other president did sign. Thats why trump should take a mulligan on this claim. The number of bills passed is not an effective measure of how successful a president has been. A lot of the bills are naming post offices and the like. Trump would be much better served to argue that he has accomplished big things in his first year as president , which he has, he delivered a republican tax form and he does have a valid factbased case to make for what he has accomplished and instead he wants to golf and talk about other things. Stay warm out there today. Thank you for your insight this morning. When we come back, rushing to conclusions . Republican congressman, francis ruiny, explaining his call for a purge at the fbi and Justice Department and he says now that word is a little strong, however he believes theres a problem. As an american citizen i am nervous and discontent those people would have those kinds of lack of impartiality. A lawyer under george w. Bush slammed the congressman for saying this on cnn. Listen. We dont have purges in the United States of america, and thats soviet germany, and thats not the rhetoric we use in the United States of american and that man does not belong in congress. Congressman, thank you so much for being here. Good morning, alisyn. This is a growing chorus, and people have not used the word purge for the fbi, but they have used the word tainted. Yeah, you know, congressman ruiny, with all due respect, has no idea what hes talking about, and hes not a member of the committees that talked to the fbi, and he is saying the fbi is compromised and its a dangerous, dangerous thing because the fbi and the doj, the department of justice in general has got to be regarded as governor politics and they are being dragged into the political mud by people like congressman rooney. There are stext messages tha have revealed they were not being impartial and they did not like donald trump, and there was one guy that contributed to the democrats and one to hillary clinton. The fbi is made up of thousands of americans and each one has a political opinion and thats true in congress and the marine corps, and thats the beauty of america. The question is do those opinions interfere in what these people do, and the attempt to create mud and clouds around the fbi, when mueller found out there had been these texts he fired one and demoted the other. The question is not, gosh, do fbi agents have political opinions . Of course, they do, just like judges do, and theres not a shred of evidence that the work that has been done and the guilty pleas that have been secured are by that. The enemy of the United States, name them, north korea, iran, russia. In their wildest dreams they would never imagine the president of the United States would tar and ae sreus rate the fbi and doj and cia, and these are all institutions our enemies hate because they keep us safe and the president , since he became president a year ago, has gone out of his way to damage not just the morale, but the standing of the institutions in the enemys mind. How close are you at being done in the investigation . There are dozens of witnesses we still want to interview, and its hard to say because i say it as one of the members of the committee, we are occasionally surprised by things that Robert Mueller uncovered, that of course raise questions that we should look into, and things that the media uncovered. It was the media and not any of the investigations that uncovered the meeting in trump tower with donald trump, jr. This is an investigation that needs to be done right, not done quickly. Have you seen any evidence of a crime within Trumps Campaign . Remember, the congress is not about investigating crimes. The fbi and Robert Mueller are about that, and of course Robert Mueller has secured two guilty pleas from Michael Flynn and from george papadopoulos, and indicted two other individuals and it doesnt seem like Robert Mueller is done yet. So like a lot of americans, i am waiting to see whatever else by the way, you asked about the delegitimization of the fbi and a lot of other people are trying to set the guide path to delegitimatize what else they might uncover. Do you get the idea House Republicans the investigation to come to a hasty close. We did eight interviews, and two interviews not in the city of washington, and that makes it hard for people to get to those interviews, and these require a lot of preparation and work, and so it sure feels like, you know, somebody decided the clock was particularing and they needed to jam who is that person . Hard to say. Hard to say. As i said all along, i think congressman c congressman conaway is doing a nice job, and they have been tainted by what seems to be a command from the white house to end this thing, which is what we know the president wants. Thank you so much for being here. Homeowners are rushing to prepay their property taxes before the new tax law takes affect, but will it pay off or back fire . We will ask andrew cuomo about it next. christmas marching band music drumsticks click duncan just protected his family with a 500,000 Life Insurance policy. And your property taxes, can you put those on there . Well, dave briggs is among all those confused taxpayers. Good morning, dave. Reporter confused and cold, bill. Yeah, the irs. Gov website, they are saying many counties are not prepared for the changes. Nasa county, new york, people are scrambling. Its packed here at oyster bay all week and they extended their hours at 7 00 tonight, and in the final day to prepay your property taxes before 2018. Here just to make a payment . Yes. Hundreds of homeowners racing to pay their 2018 property taxes, hoping to take advantage of a popular deduction that will be reduced when the new tax law goes into effect on january 1st. I know we will get it in this year and can write it off, but not sure about next year. The confusion of the new tax law signed last week. New york, california, connecticut, new jersey, and washington, d. C. My concerns are our new tax laws are unfairly targeting new york and i want to avoid as much payment as possible by prepaying in advance. Reporter irs is saying not so fast, and cautioning prepaying property taxes could work but only under limited circumstances. To avoid the cap homeowners must pay taxes that have been assessed this year, meaning those who prepaid based onest mates are not eligible. New yorkers flooding local tax offices leaving local tax collectors overwhelmed. I wanted to take advantage of it now and not get hurt as much now going forward. Seniors, we are on a fixed budget, thank you, president. Reporter the local cpa says the crowd shows this bill was rushed through too fast in order for officials to make the proper adjustments. They are letting people in because its single digits. You can tell me when you get back how cold it was. Thank you. You bet. Lets talk about the tax confusion with andrew cuomo, and he signed an executive order last week allowing president s in his state to prepay the property taxes before the end of the year. Good morning, governor. Good morning, and good to be with you, alisyn. Why are you allowing new yorkers to pay their 2018 tax bill early . Look, as you said in the previous piece, this bill was rushed through congress and the senate. It is a bait and switch. They sold it as we are going to help the middle class and it wound up being a benefit for the rich and the rich corporations and they are hoping the corporations will give it to the workers, but if they wanted to raise wages for workers, they would have said in the bill the corporations will get a tax cut but they must give it to the workers, and its all a marketing employ. One of the devilish things in the bill, they eliminate the deductibility of state taxes, and it is a mouthful but what it says is up until now, over 100 years, you pay the local tax and state tax and deducted that from your federal tax, and they are eliminating that. You are now paying two taxes. You pay a tax to the state or local government, and then the federal government taxes that tax. It happens to occur k coincidencely over on democratic states. You call it an economic self w civil war. The senate has no senators from democratic states, blue states. This tax provision hits the blue states by eliminating the state and local tax deductibility and uses that money to finance the tax cut in the red states. This is the most partisan d divisive bill. Theres always paul nicoliti the crafting of legislation. But this was aobnoxious. They said lets pillage the blue to give to the red. Thats partisan politicking over any semblance of good government. By the way, you want to hurt new york . You want to hurt california . They are the economic engines. How are you going to grow the economy after you put a dagger in the heart of new york and california . Its all politics all the time. So how does new york fight b
