One of the signs that the president s infection has only hardened those inaccurate views of the pandemic or willingness to lie about it even as his own white house has become a hot bed of infection. What does this tell us about the president s condition . It tells us right now if you look at those numbers that he is doing pretty well. If he is moving around and keeping his oxygenation up is a good sign. Not getting any supplemental oxygen are good indicators. You can say at this point in time he is doing well. We know a lot about this disease and we have to anticipate what might happen in someone who has active covid disease, is dealing with these medications he is receiving, the steroids, those sorts of things you have to create a fuller picture and still say, look, does this mean he is free and clear or does this mean he has to continued to be monitored for several days which i think its the latter. That is the point here as command connolly is only providing information that reflects almost only on the president s health. What other questions do you need to have answered before knowing how well President Trump is truly doing . There is a lot of data. Just basic vital signs would be good to know. We have been told his oxygen saturation. Any fever food . What is his heart rate . Any signs of other dysfunction of any organs . Does he have pneumonia . This is a respiratory virus. They have not answered that question. There is no answer to that question because they conceded he has imaging studies done. They were not normal they said but they had finding. An important question. Id like to see lab results to give me an kigs how much inflammation in his body and that inflammation can be associated with blood clotting. Hethinner . A lot of questions to ask. One sheet sort of thing is the relevant information for someone to have a clear idea what is happening. They are, obviously, not giving us that, jake. I share their being offended by it. I mean, you know, pretty deeply. Taking off the mask and saying you have nothing to fear. First of all, he is, obviously, in a very privileged position to say that. No one has near those resources. This is a contagious deadly virus out there. It is advocating for imnunity and throw up our hands. We got nothing we can do here and throw up our hands and let this virus sort of run free through our nation. Its a terrible strategy. Maybe up to 2 Million People would die, depending on the model you look at. Hospitals would become overwhelmed. It would be so destructive and, yet, that is essentially what he was sort of advocating. Take off the mask, you got nothing to fear. Has any Health Expert suggest that United States should just live with that . No. No public Health Expert has suggested that and the reality is that even without its always this false choice,wno sa. Plenty of countries around the world wear masks and go outside and good about hand hygiene and keep distance but the countries are very much up and running and they are having a small fraction of the number of cases every day that we have, a small fraction of the number of deaths we have every day. So this is something that so many families are having to undergo and now the president is saying, forget it, we are not going to do another stimulus when millions of people are out of work and millions are without health care. I want to talk about judge barrett in a second. But im curious what the protei protocols are your colleagues. Three of your colleagues have tested positive for covid including utah senator lee and North Carolina senator tillis who attended that event with judge barrett being announced as a Supreme Court nominee. What is the protocol for somebody like you going to work . Do they require masks on capitol hill . Does your staff have access to covid tests . Because its quite possible that the hot zone at the white house might also become a hot zone on capitol hill. Of course. When you have three senators that currently have tested positive. So there is no protocol that Mitchell Mcconnell or Lindsey Graham have put forward. They want to have this hearing, come hell or high water, and there is very little in fact, they havent said anything about how pick the senators who are attending this hearing. Is there anything that democrats can do to stop the nomination of judge Coney Barrett . It appears to me from my reporting and conversations with democrats and republicans that really if they have the votes, they have the votes and there is not much you can do. We are still waiting for two more republican senators to develop guts, but im not holding my breath but, at the same time, we are in the middle of a pandemic that has entered really the Judiciary Committee and, yet, Lindsey Graham and Mitchell Mcconnell do not prioritize the safety of their own senators. So we are im going to take whatever precautions i can. I think most of us who attended judiciary hearing over the last week, most of us have been tested. I have tested negative. But that doesnt mean that im not still susceptible. Yeah. So we will see. But we are saying this is no time for us to compromise the safety of any of us and its not just us, its our staff, all of the people who have to work at the capitol. Yeah.
