Opened in indian areas where they can buy the goods, modern close, modern agricultural seals, manufacturing implements, and he wanted them to be able to have that stuff but he said we should push the trading houses on them and the better off of my nimble than getting lots of dead. And in order to pay off their American Express pillow whatever was, they would be willing to sell some of their land command of the United States would get there land. Jefferson was thinking about that, thinking of the expansion of the country. Jets jacksons decision could have set a dangerous precedent of presence ignoring a free court decision. Why didnt future president s ignore the decision. I should clarify, jackson according to a short version of history ignored a Supreme Court decision which said in short cherokee is a right to their land. State governments should just leave them alone. They have rights to govern themselves. Jackson was quoted at the time discouraging the ruling in many ways. The creating a constitutional crisis. The Supreme Court ruling made the case to undermine the case and make it go away and finally be withdrawn. Jackson made that case go away without it having any practical he did not quite ignoreignored, but he sort of did. He made it go away. A great analogy if that happened later, if eisenhower had said this whole schools desegregation thing is a terrible idea and im going to make it go away somehow history would be extremely different. I think it did not happen because jacksons time was a partisan time. And there were people opposed to Andrew Jackson who understood this to be a wrong court ruling on so many levels, and those people in later years came to be known as republicans. And they made explicit references to that ruling when they got around to outlawing slavery at the end of the civil war. There were things about that ruling, the effect of which was considered unjust for decades afterwards and remembered for decades afterward and regretted in later years. We were told that the major reason for the removal , big rush to get in there to claim that land. I dont know if you touched upon that are not. I do. I do. I would suggest that is not quite correct, although it is an understandable version of history. There was a gold rush before the gold rush to california. Hundreds of thousands of dollars in gold were found, butwith the land, the real estate was worth far more than the gold. Georgia wanted the real estate decades before the state of georgia want a big old. I think that the rush of white settlers was like spraying lighter fluid on your grill. It is an excel arent on the fire was already burning. What people really wanted was the real estate. As is so true so often that are civic life today. I told you earlier, i grew up in northeast oklahoma. Have you touched in this book or do you have plans on talking about in written form of pictures, however you choose to, the effect of the trail oftrail of tears and inward immigration to oklahoma and western arkansas . Am interested. There is an incredible story that dates back to that time there is still that Cherokee Nation and oklahoma. And they are allow certain sovereign rights even today. There are africanamericans among the cherokee. The cherokee has been emulating white man and took up the practice of slavery. The slaves went from being free after the civil war work assured the opportunity to be members of the Cherokee Nation, but they were disowned. Eventually by a referendum which caused a clash with the federal government to my change in cherokee elections command is the subject of lawsuits that continue to this day which is a concrete reminder of what can seem so distant. I would like to thank you for coming back. [applause] [inaudible conversations] we share the story of the japaneseamerican families survival of the depression. I have to admit, i have a wee bit of trepidation because the last time it was 60 pages and i could not make it past six. This one is not like that. You will spend the evening with it. It is worth it command you will see the entire evening because you will want to undermine this young man is accomplished. He just turned 30 and had already been a white house intern, talkshow host on radio and drive time, a top five media market for the age of 30. I have not done any of those things. His story is a compelling and inspirational one. I think you will get a lot out of his experience. It is our sincere pleasure. I have to give a Public Service announcement. After our speakers opening remarks he will take questions. If you would lineup at the microphone task them. Having said that, it is my sincere pleasure to introduce to you demetrius minor. [applause] good evening, everyone. Thank you for the invitation. Well, it all started on april the 1st 2014. It was the day before i was set to relocate to atlanta, georgia from virginia. I remember my father telling me to come downstairs because there was an important matter that my parents wanted to discuss. I begin the stairs and thought parents would tell me how much they would miss me and embrace myself my moms neverending list of things she expect me to accomplish. I cannot possibly prepare myself. I sat down on the couch. Across from me the owner of the words that would turn my world upside down. He said, son, your mother and i are not your biological parents. For the very 1st time in my 20 years of living had no idea who i was. Because she had succumb to a lifestyle consists of a prostitution, drugs, alcohol, and violations with the law however, she did not allow for life choices to prevent her from at least allowing a loving family to raise me in a safe and healthy environment. And it was through this revelation that preservation and purpose. I realized that i have a story to share, that it had the potential to not only impact to realize that their lives were preserved by almighty god for divine purpose. But it is not just me that has a story worth sharing. There are many within this millennial generation that have testimonies of their own. While our backgrounds may vary and our experiences may not mere, i am convinced that we havent preserved not just for our own benefit but also help preserve this great nation. America can be preserved. She must be preserved. And sustained. Thatit will take more than Just Campaign rhetoric and politicians. Will require this generation which is innovative, intelligent, and creative in many ways to implement conservative ideas and principles. Conservatism must be more than policy composition, and voting record. The resurgence and revival of morality is indeed in order because when morality is neglected in one area of life it affects every other. Conservatism becomes invalid conservatism is not attractive. We demand faithfulness and loyalty to ourtarnishes constituents but we are not loyal to her own family. Conservatism becomes questioning. I generation has been reserved for this divine purpose. The call is much greater than ourselves. While the media and our opponent will seek to highlight the things that divide us we can seek Higher Ground and put an emphasis on the things that pulls apart. Whether we are black, white, latino, latino, rich, poor, democrat, republican, liberal conservative. We hope and giving gifts and talents that have given to us by god himself. While i purpose is to indeed hopefully our country back it will happen different ways. The medical field serving as a dr. , nurse, physician. Some may find the purpose big government. Someone could be the next speaker of the house. You must also change the narrative of the cultural and political divide. Wewe can do this without betraying our values. But what we must be willing to do is provide helpful conservative alternatives to the Mainstream Media and hollywood elitism that seeks to define our cultural status. We must define the narrative to tell i generation. Americai generation. America is a racist nation that we are intolerant of other people. We must not disavow our allegiance to morality because it is the component of our individual and our nations preservation. I myself would not join in the course of those believing that americas glory days are an afterthought. I still believe that with gods grace our nations greatest days are still here. We will survive, see america serve a great purpose, not just nationally but internationally because of the individuals that are in this room. As Margaret Thatcher once set in 1979, two weeks prior to her election as Prime Minister of great britain, we remain, as we always have been, of force for freedom muted, even we can these last three years while this deal with fires burning deep within. Ready to be kindled and go forward again. And if anyone is to doubt or question the validity of your purpose massively remind youthey are simply remind you of the divine promise given to us in the holy scripture which exist 916 tells us that i have raised you up for this very purpose, that i may show you my power and that my name might be proclaimed. Thank you for coming. God bless you. [applause] i read the book. What was it like the intervening two years. This past february, february, i dont want to get too much wife. My birth mother and adopted mother died two weeks of each other. Today would have actually been my birth mothers 55th a. Once it was told to me, the normal rational response is to become better and to distance. Theres a purpose. And i can gladly stand before you and tell you that i have relationships. And so instead of me having a better approach i simply said, what is it that you want me to learn . And this past june one of my biological brothers, his son annise,i went back home and was asked about time for me you never know what can evolve. If he has the mentality. I am still actually in the process of finding stuff out. Who knows. We could be related. Then my process of learning and growing just embrace it. That answer your question . My question is, what is next . Probably going to eat after this. I am finishing up my degree. Then i hope to be married. Would you tell us how exactly you made it . I do want to make a clarification. Well, i was in class when they and so i opened up facebook. Who in the world this guy. Unlike what the heck. He began to tell me that we had two friends. Looking for producer. I dont have a lick of experience. He said, its easy. They got took me to pf changs for lunch. Was not satisfied with my current job. Kabila producer. I was not expecting it. He opened up the door. Would you tell us a little bit . I havent to see that senator barack obama. What brings you to washington . White house intern. I do have books available for purchase. I think it would be helpful, politicians really cater to us. People always talk about the voice of the millennials. It is the people not in this room. If we dont reach our own, who will . I. Is a very good question. They have had a negative mindset. Still cant find common ground. But in the midst of conversations and compromise my beliefs and still think you can build a consensus relationship. Try to have the best lifestyle i can back up the rhetoric and have found it to be much more helpful. To put people you dont have to tell them what your political ideologies. [inaudible question] no. But i love dc, the political five. I am not think. I have tried that. Okay. I give up. [inaudible question] what would you advise the millennials . I tell people all the time to be yourself. Be unique. Everyone has a testimonial
