FBC Lou Dobbs Tonight January 25, 2017

Their threat to stall the confirmation of his nominees. Tom price, one of the dems targets says its par for the course. Does it trouble you at all that your as a nominee to serve in this administration, that somewhat would hold you to a different standard than you as a member of congress . We know whats going on here. We do, we do. Its and i understand and as my wife tells me, i volunteered for this. Among my guests tonight, the first congressman to endorse donald trump, chris collins, joins me. Also, the british elites on the u. K. Supreme court rule the Prime Minister theresa may must have parliamentary approval before the peoples vote on brexit can actually be recognized. Its clear the elites are still ruling the u. K. Former advisor to Prime Minister David Cameron, steve hilton, joins us tonight. Good evening, everybody, President Donald Trump telling Auto Industry executives today that environmental regulations are, quote, out of control. The president pledged to ease regulations, making it easier for those companies to open Assembly Plants in the United States. Mark fields praising mr. Trump following the meeting. By the president and the economic policies hes forwarding. I would call out yesterday the president s decision to withdraw from the tpp, weve been very vocal both as an industry and as a company, and weve repeatedly said that the mother of all trade barriers is currency manipulation. And t. Tpp failed in meaningful dealing with that and we appreciate the president s courage to walk away from a bad trade deal. And President Trump signed five more executive actions today. Two orders reviving the keystone xl pipeline, and the Dakota Access pipelines, all directives on mr. Trumps promises to give America Energy independence his very best efforts. Well see if we can get that pipeline built. A lot of jobs, 28,000 jobs. Great construction jobs. Mr. Trump also signing three other executive orders that would expedite the environmental permit process for infrastructure projects, related to the pipelines directly. The Commerce Department to streamline the manufacturing permit process giving the Commerce Department 180 days to maximize the use of American Steel in those pipelines. And President Trump today met with senate leadership, the subject under discussion his coming Supreme Court choice. Trump sitting down with Senate Majority leader mitch mcconnell, senator minority leader Chuck Schumer, Chuck Grassley ayn senator dianne feinstein. Hes set to make his choice this week and announce it next week. Tomorrow, mr. Trump will sign several executive orders restricting immigration. Those orders are expected to involve restricting access to the United States for refugees and some visa holders from particularly iraq, iran, libya, somalia, sudan, syria and yemen. Well, joining me now to discuss mr. Trumps furious pace, focusing on jobs and pipelines and steel, the environment, the dems sorry campaign know theyre running against the president s nominees, chairman of the American Conservative Union and host of the Mike Gallagher radio show and the salem radio network, great to have you both here. Matt, let me start with you. The time schedule that President Trump set for himself and his administration, theyre moving at were you in the Bush Administration. Did you ever see the Bush Administration moving this fast in its entirety . In all seriousness, not only only when our National Security was at stake and what were really seeing with donald trump is that, he is a man of action. Look, i think we all know that he has very High Energy Level personally. I dont think he sleeps a lot. He doesnt drink, i dont think he has a lot of hobbies. I think what he does for a living, he works and he works the whole day, and i think this hes going to exhaust this staff, lou, if he keeps up this pace and i think the American People are cheering him on. Well, he has one very lucrative hobby, he loves golf and plays it very well, im told. I dont know, his golf is all business, too, i think. Probably gets a lot of deals done on the golf course. Cant be all business because his handicap is so low. But turning to this trump time, mike, this is really wonderful to watch. The sense of urgency that he has is so inspiring. Its like every day, we see all of this stuff roll out and watch the opposition, look at what the Mainstream Media is focusing on, the bit about did illegals vote or not, or how big the inauguration crowd. This is the kind of minutia, theyre in a frenzy, in hysteria mode because this guy is getting things down. The president is about the business of fulfilling his campaign promises. How many times have we seen republican president s, i have to say, or elected officials come into office and not fulfill their promises with the efficiency of this guy . Its amazing. There was sort of a fog for the past, you know, eight years under president obama. Things moved at almost a glacial pace irrespective. You mentioned, matt, only in times of National Security, crisis, i think really President Trump understands this is a National Security crisis and i think thats what hes trying to imbue his entire administration with, inculcate that awareness and that sense of urgency, dont you . Yeah, and these last eight years, look, i think these last eight years really brought it home to donald trump. I think he got worried as we all got worried as he saw our country just careening over a cliff, both from a National Security and an economic standpoint and i do think that he comes into office, i think mike said it right, with a sense of dispatch. Like, we do not have time to sit around and debate and talk. Weve got to act. And i think the way hes doing these executive orders is exactly right and i think the American People, they just want us to get it back. I want to talk about sean spicer, the White House Press secretary. Watching day two of the official briefings, i look at it that that group of reporters, and no offense to my colleagues in the media, but i mean, theres something wrong there. They seem inattentive. They seem unfocused, repeat one anothers questions. This is not a group of people their news organizations might consider in my judgment, mike, perhaps paying for the white house not to have those briefings broadcast. They dont look good. Well, he goes in as sort of a pit bull dog. He goes this is the way its going to be. I think a lot of americans love his style. I sure do. Hes been on my radio show many times, hes a great guy, knows what hes doing and hes not going to let them pull one over on the American People like josh earnest did and prior press secretaries have done. And nonsense supposedly reports that President Trump doesnt like the light suit that he wears and you mentioned those other folks whose names are, sort of fading memories now. Rear view mirror. But, this is a bunch of attack dogs and you dont really know why theyre snarling half the time, other than theyre under some kind of order, whether its an editorial order or a corporate order from which they have derived an editorial strategy. This is as sean spicer said yesterday, matt, this is a group of people and a National Left wing media that has been biting at trumps ankles. A good friend of mine once said, you know, every dog has his fleas. I mean, these folks are small, theyre irritating by comparison to this historic figure, whos now in the oval office, and it doesnt look to me like they are they understand even they, the proportions theyre dealing with here. The press pool actually sits above what used to be the white house swimming pool. So when donald trump says hes going to drain the swamp, thats the room i think of first, lou. [laughter] where they have the press briefings. The amazing thing about liberals, theyll run rough shod over the constitution, the clear rules of law. And where are the rules that they think are sacrosanct they must call on the Mainstream Media first . They think that, but we do not. And secretary spicer is giving them reason to recalibrate. I cant let you guys go without asking you, director james comey, there are reports, theres been no confirmation or denial as far as directly from the administration, from the white house, what do you think if the reports are true, that james comey is held over . Why . And to what effect . Well, it might be that President Trump feels hes got other fish to fry besides worrying about that particular controversy. Theres a lot to untangle there. I dont understand the role of director comey. Its going to be tough, going to be tough. Matt, the last word. You know, i have been scratching my head about james comey ever since he decided to not prosecute Hillary Clinton cause i believe the Obama White House held him back and i would be more happy with a new fbi director. All right. Mat schlapp, Mike Gallagher, we appreciate it. Were coming right back. Theres much, much more straight ahead. Stay with us. Kellyanne conway says the trump administrations priorities are clear. Were here for the American People. We are not here for the establishment, for elites. Were here to deliver on the promises and the plans that this man has before. In case the left forgot, its america first, thats and the schumer clowns and demes are slowwalking nominees through the nomination process. The demes delayed by a week, the confirmation of attorney general nominees, jeff sessions. Well take that up with this is the silverado special edition. This is one gorgeous truck. Oh, did i say theres only one special edition . Because, actually theres 5. Aaaahh ooohh uh holy mackerel. Wow. Nice. Strength and style. laughter come home with me trade up to the silverado all star edition and get an average total value of eight thousand one hundred fifty dollars when you find your tag. Find new roads at your local chevy dealer. Congressman tom price facing questions from members of the Senate Finance committee today as he looks to be confirmed as the next secretary of health and human services. Senator orrin hatch, the committees chairman criticized his democratic colleagues for what he called their overly partisan treatment of trumps cabinet nominees, all of them. Im serious when i say that im worried about what my colleagues on the Minority Side are doing to the senate as an institution. The over riding sense of comedy and courtesy has been in decline, ive never seen this level of partisan rancor when it comes to dealing with the president from an opposing par party. Lou senate comity. And joining us the congressional reason, good to have you im sorry, go ahead. Its good to be with you always, lou. Lou orrin hatch, senator hatch is one of those guys, he doesnt wear people out by talking just for the heck of it. He is complaining about this partisan ardor on the part led by, what is it, the schumer clown. He has, as donald trump referred to him. He has really hit a new low here. Thats hard to do when your predecessor was harry reid. Well, understand, new york is new york, im from new york, were a state unique to themselves. Theres no question they didnt expect to be in the position theyre in in minority, not with the republicans united, the senate, house and the white house. This is anger, its frustration and were seeing the childish actions that would go along with it, including the partisan, absolutely terrible partisan nature of some of these questions. A question which theyre stating more as a fact which is not at all. I think the rom nominees are doing a phenomenal job deflecting these. And i was glad today more than ever, the republicans starting to come together to really defend someone le tom price in partilar and really calling out the other side for the partisan nature, im glad to see that. Lou theyve been unrelenting, congressman, on prices finances, even going to one stock, a medical twice stock where he made 300 and basically accused him of being about bernie madoff. This is really, i mean, this is stuff beyond the pale. Well, i like, lou i like what the wall street journal said in a quasi edit editorial, said if this is insider trading, hes doing a lousy job. Lou price, you think, will be confirmed . All of the nominees at this point . I think when we saw marco rubio and Lindsey Graham and john mccain come to the defense of Rex Tillerson, if there was any concern, i would say thats the one i had some concern on, and when theyve now fallen in line, im comfortable, all of these cabinet officials will go through with the 50, 51 votes they have to have, if not all 52, harry reid is the one that eliminated the filibuster on president ial appointees other than the Supreme Court, and theyre paying the price that well be able to have all of these folks and confirmed. They delay it for a week and put a hold on Rex Tillerson for a week, we can live with that, it shows how petty theyre being. Were just going to move on, theyre all going to be confirmed, pretty much in short order. Lou i notice how much you enjoy reminding everybody who is responsible for the simple majority in the senate. I cant help myself. Lou lets turn to fbi director james comey, reports that hes going to be held over. Your reaction . Well, i know weve all had some concerns about director comey. You know, if i went back two years ago before some of this, these concerns raised i thought what a great pick he was as fbi director. I will certainly trust, as weve seen the cabinet that President Trumps put together, trust that he will be surrounding himself with individuals who he knows will give him good advice, and if donald trump is happy with the advice that he knows he would get from director comey and wants to keep him on, thats his prerogative and i would certainly support that as weve seen the other magnificent picks President Trump has made and ill leave that in the president s court and support him either way. Lou good for you. And i think the country is right there with you. Lets turn to paul ryan, who has not always been, with, as of a week ago, with the president. Where is paul ryan now . Where is he in his partnership with the president of the United States, who is the senior partner by any definition . Well, i would put it this way, lou. We know who the head of our party is. We know the reason we have unified republican government, for the first time in a very long time and thats donald j. Trump, our new president. Out of respect for that at turnout that mr. Trump got, paul ryan and other leadership are looking to his leadership and vicepresident pence is playing a key role in setting the agenda, the pace of the agenda and setting the priority, as paul ryan indicated to us today in our conference meeting, they are all on the same page. Our 100, 200day agenda we are going to be talking about, the president will be with us on thursday in philadelphia at our retreat. All the republican senators and members of congress will be there. We are united and President Trump is calling the shots. We are falling in line. Were following his priorities, and were communicating incredibly well. Lou well, that is a news break and a delight, im sure, for most americans to hear. Congressman, always good to talk with you. We appreciate it. You, too, lou. Talk to you soon. Lou what a great meeting. We sure will. Lou congressman chris collins. Breaking news tonight, three chinese warships are in the persian gulf. Theyve entered the gulf for the First Time Since 2010.
