If you go back through his record he has been very liberal and would likely vote with the liberal justices on issues before the court particularly when it comes to the Second Amendment<\/a> and deferring to administrative powers of the epa. If you are replacing Antonin Scalia<\/a> and you are a republican and a conservative i dont know how you can vote in favor of this justice and think he would be a, quote, replacement. How confident is the establishment that trump will nominate candidates that are going to have the gop platform in terms of Second Amendment<\/a>, roe v wade, and other officials a candidate that is like Antonin Scalia<\/a>, how confident are they about that . That is why i never feel compelled to do deals for the sake of deals unless it makes sense we dont do it as you know i was getting a fair amount of grief from analysts when you going to deploy cash kept saying, i got to wait for good deals, to come up we do it last year 6 billion dollars because of bunch of things came telling who knows what happens this year, but last year was a very good year tor deploying cash. Maria you were very clear, that when pof for shareholders a deal with utopiaiteed technology would have been good for both. What were actually see is tremendous pickup in Southeast Asia<\/a>, double digit growth throughout the region. Southeast asia like vietnam . Vietnam, malaysia, indonesia, thailand and north and south korea, its amazing. Whats driving that as far as industry and products . A big part is the shifting manufacturing centers, as china, you know, sort of levels out, and as weve seen it throughout history of asia, it continues to move. So, manufacturing is moving. And we, of course, follow that very carefully, but Southeast Asia<\/a> is coming on very, very strong. Dagen many of the people who are out supporting, say, donald trump, for example, feel that trade hasnt helped them, hasnt helped them at all. Theyve lost jobs. They dont see the benefits of it. What do you say to them . The facts are that trade drives jobs and high paying jobs. When we look at our port, for example, we directly impact about 320,000 jobs on a regional basis. About 1 is. 4 million jobs on the National Basis<\/a> and those are high paying jobs, many of them union jobs, so, it kind of debunks the myth that theres a job issue with trade because it drives jobs throughout the country. So, whats your reaction to all of this upset over trade and free trade versus fair trade . Well, i think free trade is, you know, its all about competitiveness and the United States<\/a> has always done very, very well on the trade side. What were struggling with is the relatively high value of the dollar is making our exports struggle. So, thats a challenge because the rest of the worlds economies are struggling right now, and while it makes everything inexpensive for importing, it makes it difficult to sell our goods abroad. Putting the business aside. What about National Security<\/a> . Do you worry that, you know, our situation today is actually a negative for National Security<\/a> . Well, i think, you know, the ports, given the Economic Impact<\/a> of the ports on the nation, we are very, very focused on security. We have the most advanced Security Apparatus<\/a> in the world. And we have to get it right every day. The bad guys have to be right one time. We have to be right every day. And so, i think that from a security standpoint, most of what we fear coming through the ports is in fact monitored very carefully. We have such a terrific inner Agency Structure<\/a> and we have all of, you know, homeland security, the coast guard, all of the typical local authorities, theyre all in a Team Together<\/a> and we monitor everything very carefully and continually. I think the trade story has become, really, front and center and such a hot button issue in this election, does it surprise you . It doesnt surprise me, but the struggle with elections, people are always looking for some reason to, you know, to be angry or focus on something. Facts speak for themselves. Trade is growing, trade drives jobs, trade is in fact what this nation is about, and the fact of the matter is, we have to do everything we have to stimulate it abroad.
