He didnt look crazy and he had he had a temperament that seems president ial. I think that montage, whoever just edited that montage did a great job, fantastic. I think that actually did capture last night. Strength, strong, he comes out pretty much every answer like im in charge. I understand that the people who watch every question say we should have he shouldnt have left this on the table, he should have mentioned the Clinton Foundation<\/a>, i was doing that because this is what we all do. Hes a builder. Hes a businessman, hes an agent of change in the community and he wants to change washington. I think if you just do debate scoring, maybe she came out a little bit ahead, but today, its still the same election as it was yesterday. Its a changed election. Keep in mind, there was momentum. If the polls stay the same, that means the momentum stop. Do you think hes going to continue . Well go into the debate and im not sure. I dont know. I think this election last night, we saw someone as he said who has been around for 30 years and she does have experience, but the experience is one of failure time and again and that stays with you in this debate. I dont think that leaves even if hillary is polished. She looked good. She obviously did have the stamina. I think each of these experiences for trump will be a learning experience. Shes done the oneonone debates time and again. What does she need to do to prepare for the next debate . I think its helpful, im going to be meeting with Newt Gingrich<\/a> in toronto. Arent you on the same side . We do. But were debating two crafty liberals. Hillary clinton is part of the corruption machine in washington. Weve seen what her ethical ratings are and for good reason. She profited of her position at the state department when she was supposed to be serving the people. Thats one. Number two, she says the economy is fine. Do you think the country is going in the right direction . Dunction . I dont think so. The middle east is in chaos. She applied all of her frequent flyer miles to being secretary of state, but it didnt work. Im going to put you first and no matter what gotcha questions are asked tonight, you are still my number one priority and im really grateful to be here tonight and im really learned a lot in the last year. Those moments of grace weve all seen trump have, i want to see those in the next debate and a little bit of charm, a little punch, charm, strength. I think it had bits and pieces of that last night. I want to see that little bit more. There was a lot of smug democrats today and saying see, i told you so. He couldnt perform on the big stage. Way most people are looking at this. I think most people are looking at this Hillary Clinton<\/a> can talk a good game but in the end what did her policies and actions accomplish for the every man. Whether the debate was scored on her behalf or not, in the event, i dont think that matters. I really dont. Independents undecided, thats the key. Most people talk to their own parties, you are not going to get a real response. What poll do you look at to see really ths my bellwether. I want to see the college polls after the debate and the women voters after this debate. When hillary came out this is how you treat women . All you have. Youve been in public life for three decades. You are doing the eighth grade thing on me. People dont like the media. Lester holt gave her a lot of assists. Rudy giuliani was right about it. No doubt about it. Trump was expecting that. The media is not going to be 100 fair to a conservative republican. Not going to happen. You mentioned the talking points. He needs to have three or four talking points. We asked him about that. He said sometimes its hard when you are asked a question something total off benghazi to get it back to benghazi. Its hard to get it back to the talking points. She did it last night. She did on the woman question. They werent talking about the way he treated women. They were talking i cant remember what it was, but she dove tailed it back to by the way, look, this is what im focusing on for the American People<\/a> and i think thats a good question but let me take it lets take a step lets take a step back and lets really look at the broad picture of whats whats happening in america. There are rhetorical tools that you can use that you have to practice. We dont even know what the question was. Every person watching this is with a notepad and going okay, she got this. He didnt mention benghazi. She made this point and he didnt mention the Clinton Foundation<\/a>. Most people want a Strong America<\/a> and things to change for the better, whether they are partisan or not. They want things to be better for our country. You just mentioned benghazi, clinton email and the Clinton Foundation<\/a>. Those are things that lester holt never asked about it Cyber Security<\/a>, he asked it with a straight question to Hillary Clinton<\/a>. Trump didnt pick it up. He got grilled on tax returns, iraq war, birther thing, brupts. Those are all to be expected. The birther question thats at the top of the list. How do you think he responded to it . I think he spent too much time on it. What i would have done is said, oh, really, first of all, i put that to rest. Lester, why are you obsessed with this question and do you think at this point its the point is where president obama was born or what was born out of eight years of failed policies . You take one of their words, you turn it and you make your point but you dont i wouldnt have spent five minutes on it. It was painful. We dont want the back story. He was moved by detroit. I think donald trump in detroit and donald trump maybe in mexico, those are moments that are for him its a narrative he wants to repeat. You cant do that every time but its good to have a moment where you step back and you say, you know, as were closing tonight, i want to say what a privilege it is to be here. Flooding the louisiana. Oh, he was phenomenal. The idea that donald trump is a businessman and doesnt care thats ridiculous. I think most people see that and know that. You need to drive that home and put hillary away in the next debate. You cant wait until the third debate to put her away. I would put her away in the next debate. Absolutely. We were talking about the green room area, because of the way we watch tv, the average person at home walking in and out, going into the kitchen. He looks pretty good. Hes not insulting her and shes looking better than she looked on 9 11. Its a draw. She was conscious. Yes, exactly. The metaphor didnt play out, but i think most people watch this and they think, huh, they are still at each others throats and my life is probably not where it ought to be. The town hall, people are going to be asking questions. Tell me about the skill setses he brings to the table, is that going to be harder . When you see him one on one with people, thats his strength. Hes so kind and gracious to the individual, to the mom, to the factory worker, so the every man, and you see him, whether its on the street or in a crowd or even at one of his venues, his clubs, the people know he really cares. You know something, i understand why you are makering that point but let me tell you the way i see it. I get what you are saying there, thats a good point. Some are comparing him to bill clinton. When i met donald trump for the first time, he was talking about the ratings on our show, i dont even know what the ratings are necessarily. First time youve got somebody who is not a professional politician, a businessman. Maybe ross perot. And youve got hes got many opportunities to take shots at her. Youve got to do some training ahead of time and it was revealed that apparently he didnt do the standard debate prep where you get in a room and you answer questions for 90 minutes. Given how the first one went, will there be changes in the second one . He did a lot of debate prep. People are trying to diminish how incredibly serious he is. He didnt need to run for president. People run for fame, status and power. He had all of that. Shes the one who has got that typical d. C. Political resume. Hey, this should come next. I waited my turn. Im next. I deserve it. But when it comes to debate preparation, he did take rapidfire questions for quite a while from a number of us and he handled them beautifully. I thought some of the questions last night were completely predictable. We knew they were coming. We know what the obsessions are particularly in the Mainstream Media<\/a> so that didnt come as a surprise, but i also think donald trump if hes guilty of anything, its answering every question thoroughly. As opposed to her deflecting. Anybody watching that debate last night did not see in Hillary Clinton<\/a> a changemaker, a disrupter, somebody who can credibly say with a straight face shes going to change the status quo in washington. If you are worried about your job or having a wellpaying job, you are concerned about chronic wage stagnation, and if you are thinking they are radical, he took the case right to her, especially on matters like trade and isis. It was unfortunate mr. Trump was the only one who mentioned her emails and the question was hey, what about your emails . What was it like watching for you for the family.
