Life is slowly returning to normal in china but the Trump Administration is not taking off the table possible consequences for beijing. Listen to the us secretary of state. Even after the ccp notified the who the coronavirus outbreak, they didnt share all the information they had. Instead it covered up how dangerous the disease is, didnt report sustained human to human transmission for a month until it was in every province inside china, centered those who tried to warn the world, in order to halt the testing of the samples and destroyed existing samples. As we know, us officials are still trying to gain access to that lab and wuhan where some analysts believe that outbreak first began, this is an ongoing trade dispute between china and the United States. Jillian lets look at some numbers here. 20,258 cases, at least 1300 deaths, 1473, 1700 hospitalizations. You see those numbers coupled with the state that a border state like texas is losing some restrictions this week, do you worry that people might go from louisiana to texas and back . If people are moving around a little bit too early in your state that could have an impact on the progress youre making . Absolutely. Following social distancing standards we will have more admissions to the hospital, no question about that. We have concerns about a second wave coming into hospitals that we are well prepared for that. Rob a chart shows your cases, your still on a pretty steady rise in cases so your behind other places like new york that are starting to plateau or come down. Do you see a problem with the idea of states reopening piecemeal in this way, the people will naturally flock to a neighboring state where they have more freedoms and come back and reinfected . Reporter the states need to make their own decisions how to reopen because each state has a different set of circumstances, some are more world than areas, urban areas are more at risk than other rural areas in various states so it is a variable decision that needs to be made based on local conditions. Patients we are admitting have moderate disease, requiring mechanical ventilation, we have an icu on the ground were patients the required intubation are admitted and things are going basically well. We celebrated his seventieth birthday of a patient a few days ago and that was quite joyful, saying happy birthday so we are focusing on providing excellent care for patients with covid19. It is quite an amazing experience to see patients through their darkest moments, separated from their families, very challenging but the entire staff is extremely supportive and tried to be there during these dark moments. Rob it is really something what youre doing, 160 patients you have treated since opening up, 4060 patients every day, 68 beds and you are seeing a sampling of some of the worst, ten ventilators and some of those are being used, listen to the governor. Number of new people going into the hospital every day is still troublingly high, but better than it was, but still problematic. Rob still problematic on the caseload. How long do you estimate, any idea how long you will need to be here before things lighten up so you can go . We will be here as long as there is a need. There are conversations with mount sinai across the street, partnering to determine how long that will be. As long as there is a need to treat covid19 patients in new york city we will be here to do that. Jillian i know the family members of those were treating appreciate it, thank you.
