With the conventions over and just 99 days left, the general Election Campaign is officially on. Hillary clinton and her running make, tim kaine, are on a bus tour through the rust belt and we caught up with them yesterday in harrisburg, person, amid reports that russia has hacked into Democratic Party files even a program they shared with the clinton team. Do you believe that russia is behind the hacking and release of the dnc emails and do you think that Vladimir Putin wants to devote you or see you defeated and donald trump el legged president . Chris, here is what i think we know. We know that russian intelligence services, which are part of the russian government, which is upled the firm control of Vladimir Putin, hacked and the dnc and with know that they arranged for a lost those emails to be released, and we know that donald trump has shown a very troubling willingness to become up Vladimir Putin, to support Vladimir Putin, whether it is saying that nato would not come to the rescue of our allies if they were invaded, talking about removing sanctions from russian officials after they imposed by the United States and europe together, because of russias aggressiveness in ukraine. His praise for putinch is remarkable. Do you put that Vladimir Putin would rather see him as president than you . I will not jump to that conclusion but lay, out the fact, it raises serious issues about russian interference in our elections. In our democracy. We would not tolerate that from any other country particularly one with whom we have adversarial positions. For trump to encourage that and to praise pu testimony Vladimir Putin despite the deliberate effort to affect the election raises National Security issue. Trump after the backlash of his comments. If you take his encouragement that the russians shack into american email accounts and you take his quite excessive praise for putin and lute allegiance to a lofts russian wish list Foreign Policy positions and his effort, then to try to distance himself from the backlash that came not. Too Many Americans feel hike they have been last out and left hype by our economy, by our government, and i understand that frustration and frankly, even the fear that some people feel that it is just not working for him they are looking for answers. The kind of inflammatory answers that trump has provided, blame somebody, blame immigrants, blame muslims, blame somebody, that is attractive in the first instance to people who are looking for answers. What i am counting on, what i believe, he has offered nothing to help people. I believe we have put together an agenda to increase johns, increase incomes, make our economy grow and be more fair which is going to appeal to a majority of americans. Good, because i want to talk not about trump but you and drill down into some of the positions you have taken in this campaign. At a fundraiser last year, you said this, the Supreme Court is wrong on the Second Amendment. Now, in the 2008 hell are case the court said that there is a constitutional individual right to bear arms. What is wrong with that . I think what the court said about theirening an individual right, is in line with the constitutional think asking i said in the convention, im fought looking to repeal the Second Amendment, im not looking to take peoples guns away but i am looking for more support for the reasonable efforts that need to be undertaken to keep guns out of the wrong hands. All the Second Amendment includes an individual right to bear arms. Yes. But that right, like every other of our rights, our First Amendment rates, every right that we have is open to and even subject to reasonable regulations. I want to pursue this because heller, Justice Scalia said the right to bear arms reasonably limited. And he let the door open to regulation. If you are elected president you are going to appoint the 9th Supreme Court justice. Are you saying you do not want to see the heller decision, the individual right to bear arms overturned. No, i dont but here is what i want and i want to be clear about this, i want the congress to step up and do its job. I want to get out of the horrible cycle we are in where we go and mourn dozens, hundreds, thousands of People Killed by gun violence, everyone says lets ray and send our hards and feelings. And nothing happens. We are better than this. The gun lobby intimidates elected officials. The vast majority of americans, including gun owners, support the kind of common sense reforms i am proposing. Aon immigration, you say that you would go even further than president obama in deferring the deporting of people in this country illegally and you say in congress doesnt act, you would support we even tougher executive action. I want to ask you about separation of powers because the constitution is clear all legislative powers reside in congress, it doesnt say in congress doesnt act, the president can do whatever he or she wants. Lets sort that it because it is important. When it comes to immigration, i believe strongly that comprehensive Immigration Reform with a path to citizen help is not only good for People Living up the shadow of deportation but good for our economy. I think this is on the must do list and i hope that after this election that the congress which voted in a bipartisan way in 2010 and 2013 to actually take action, they will come back and say, okay, lets do this together. In they dont. In they do what gives you the right to do executive action. There is a lot of precedent, legal resident, about how president s enforce the laws. Lets look at deportation. Whoever is president gets to determine what the priorities are. My priorities are deporting criminals, violent criminals as fast as we can, anyone that has even a possible link to terrorism. But dont go rounding up hard working mothers and fathers and taking them out of factories or the hotels or the homes where they are working, making them disappear and leaving their children alone. That doesnt make any sense to me. If you are talking about executive action that will affect not just a few people or 100 people, in i understand this, but it will affect millions of people, are you changing your law and writing the law . No, because here is what i think, the Supreme Court has sent become for trial the challenges to the president s authority to take cad goers of categories of people. As president you could make the justice who could break the tie. First, lets have the trial, that is true, i hope i will have that chance, it is not just that but citizens united, a lot of things that the Current Court i think got wrong, respectly, for our democracy. You would like to see those changes with your next Supreme Court justice . Whoever is the next will appoint at left one or more Supreme Court justs. In are a lot of decisions i approve of by the court, such as Marriage Equality but there are decisions when take ton their natural conclusion, have hurt our democracy and undermined our economy. What about precedent . All the resolution is in line. I taught law i am a of cog lawyer. I know that resident is something that you look to but i also know that cores can take a look at Resolution Department and determine that maybe they werent right the first time. You say you are the real change agent in the campaign but it is fair to say that you are building on the obama agenda, you not rejecting it, 69 of americans think we are on wrong rack and we just found out that g. It took years under president obama to do something that we have roads, bridges, tunnels, ports, airports, water systems, all failing. Chris, that is not what i heard the director say and i thank you forgiving me the opportunity to, in my view crave.
