FOXNEWSW Happening Now March 6, 2017

President obama. Despite all of that, key members of congress will say that they will honor the president s request. We have life fox coverage. Covering the executive order, but we start with chief White House Correspondent john roberts. Good morning to you in the white house, looking to change the news cycle again, citing that the new executive order on the immigration be in about a half an hour from now. If democrats are already lining up to bash him over it. The white house believes that they have thought this one out carefully enough that it will pass legal muster. And most importantly minimize the potential for people to unintentionally get caught up in it. As they did the First Executive order. In meantime, the white house continues to push for a full investigation into the potential that the president was wiretapped at the trump tower during the closing weeks of the campaign. Saying that the Obama Administration ordered that wiretapped. The president waking up on saturday morning to tweet out, how low has president obama gone to tap my phones during the very sacred at the election process . This is nixon and watergate, sick guy. Current and former officials are lining up to push back against the accusation saying that nobody ordered wiretaps. Then donald trump saying that there was no directed from the fisa court to bug trump tower. But there are enough reports in telephone intercept, the trunk Campaign Officials including Michael Flynn, and possibly some other Campaign Officials and advisors. Back in the summer time that people are saying, well, you know, maybe it is possible that they could have bugged trump tower. This morning Kellyanne Conway says that the whole thing should be investigated by the intelligence committees on capitol hill. Listen here. Lets investigate this and see where it leads. Lets have the house and Senate Intelligence committees do their work and think about whether or not to include this. The president has made clear that he would like there to be an investigation of any possible abuses. Hopefully that oversight activity will clarify things. No hard evidence at least at this point that trump tower was a bug the seriousness of this, if it did happen, that is already being articulated by some Senior Republicans on capitol hill. Senator Lindsey Graham of South Carolina saying, if this is true, this could be the biggest scandal since watergate. Jon wow john roberts at the white house, john, thank you. Jenna we have that going on, and just a few minutes the white house will announce the advised revised order of travel ban. Facing no wave of legal challenges to the expansion by courts in january. The Fox News Team coverage. We have henry who was live in washington. Good to see you. Im in front of the Ronald Reagan building, the white house is not taking the lead on this. They are trying to hand it off to three key cabinet departments who will actually be implementing the executive order. So both in style and substance, they are trying to have some tweets tweaks that to make sure is that it would passes legal muster. If the controversy at airports around the nation when the First Executive order went into effect. At this time they are tweaking the fact that iraq will no longer be a muslim majority country on that list. Also making it much more clear this time thats green card holders will not be affected at all. Kellyanne conway a short time ago giving fox viewers a previe preview. It has an Effective Date marked, and there are the legal permanent residents who were excluded from it, but that is much more clear now. If you have travel documents, and you actually have a visa, if you are a legal permanent resident, you are not covered under this particular executive action. Also iraq is no longer on the list based on their enhanced screening and reporting measures. Also a syrian refugee is treated the way that all refugees are. And noticed that she said that it will take effect middle of the month rather than immediately. Remember that there was a big show ive President Trump himself at the end of week one on the Trump White House signing the First Executive order to put it right there at the white house. But also to send the message that they had to move quickly to prevent terrorists from getting into the country. This time they are letting it breathe. They are saying that it will take a couple of weeks to implement. Clearly trying to show the signal that they are being more careful about implementing in a much different way. That is why you will see Rex Tillerson here at the Ronald Reagan building. Jeff sessions, the attorney general, and secretary kelly from the Homeland Security department. Trying to focus on the idea that they are working out the details much more carefully. Jenna we will be watching, thank you. Jon now to more reaction from the president s wiretapping claims, with white house advisors backing him up. While former Obama Administration and intelligence officials deny those allegations. Lets get to the bottom of it. That is the president s entire point. You have a number, various incredible new sources showing that there was motivated activity during the campaign. In suggesting that there may be more there. The president s entire point is that the people deserve to know. So why not include in the age of 16 investigation into russia this aspect as to whether or not this actually happen . There was no such wiretapped activity mounted against the president elect at that time, the candidates or the campaign. Jon joining us now is bret baier, the anchor of special report, i guess what everybody is looking for is cooperation of what the president is suggesting happen. Do we have it . We do not. It is not definitive. We have what all of these officials have said officially. We have word that the fbi director is saying that there needs to be some pushback internally to the notion that president obama ordered the wiretaps. But what we do not have is definitive proof. We have a call for an investigation. The interesting is is that the president could answer the question very easily by calling up and asking his officials what exactly happened. Deciding whether or not he is going to declassify that or not. What we do have, however, jon, overlooked in the clever interview on meet the press. A staple interview from a former National Intelligence leader that they saw no evidence of pollution on the trump team or any american with the russians. No evidence of collusion. That in the wake of all of these tweets and the wiretaps, did it happen, did it not happen, that has been lost in the shuffle. Jon the suggestion i guess is that not was this a wiretap to find out what the Trump Campaign was up to, it would have been in connection with a criminal investigation or any investigation into any relationship between the Trump Campaign and the russians, right . Yes, we know that there were investigations ongoing. We know that there was some sort of investigation. Could it have been a narrow request to fisa . Maybe asking for a specific computer that they believe was tied to a russian bank . Could it have been . Yes, it could have been. But we have word that thats request happen or that investigation went forward . No. We do not. We have various reports. We have what officials are saying publicly. And we have something that the president could answer himself with a couple of phone calls. Jon there had to been a judge or the pfizer court approving the wiretap order, correct . By law that is exactly what happens. At the request goes to fisa courts. That is sold top secret. Nobody knows where it is in washington, d. C. But they would put the request in, and they would have to be substantial evidence to get to that point that a judge would then say, yes, go ahead and do it. We should point out by the time that you get the request for the Foreign Intelligence Surveillance Act court, most times i think it is only. 1 or something that get turned down, so you would wonder whether or not they went forward. We do not know the specifics of whether it happened or did not. And we are trying to get to the bottom of it. You know that you have various people saying that some investigation happens, and clearly over the past couple of months there have been many stories that have cited anonymous officials about the lengths to that investigation into the Trump Campaign. Jon we do know that there was surveillance of the Russian Ambassador that apparently snared Michael Flynn, the former National Security advisor, right . Yes, you can go back into the New York Times stories for months that have various elements of intercepts. That has to come from someplace. So we do not know the answer to that he had to. I am guessing that over time we will. That said, you have the white house moving forward. It is calling for an investigation. Now you have the executive order. If that is going to get a lot of attention. You have a rollout on capitol hill of obamacare. So there are big things here. This is besides the tweets that happen over the weekend. There are some democrats and republicans expressing concern about how the president got that message out. Jon again, you are saying that if the president really wants to get to the bottom of it, all he has to do is pick up the phone and call, what . The National Security agency, director of National Intelligence . Director of National Intelligence. Red former nsa mike hayden on the show this morning saying that perhaps he forgot he was president and have that power when he put out those statement statements. I think that there is more into the story. We do not know where it goes. And we independently cannot confirm the request never happened. Jon hard not to get out in front of the actual facts here. Bret baier, looking for more tonight on special report. Jenna as birth was just mentioning, more reports, north korea is one of them. South korea conducting drills. How should this affect the Trump Administration, how should they respond . Also tensions are rising inside the white house in a series of negative headlines. It is the press derailing the Trump Administration . The media panel will take a look at this ahead. We asked people to write down the things they love to do most on these balloons. Travel with my daughter. Roller derby. Now give up half of em. Do i have to . This is a tough financial choice we could face when we retire. But, if we start saving even just 1 more of our annual income. We could keep doing all the things we love. Prudential. Bring your challenges. Jenna this just in, north korea firing missiles off of its coast. South korean and japanese Officials Say that the missiles went just over 600 miles. Three of them landing in waters that japan claims is its exclusive economic zone. The Trump Administration working on the policy likely to see these at the publication. We are going to wait to see what they say. Codirector of the Nuclear Policy program and endowments for use, take a look at the missile test. What do you note about the time of this and the type of missiles used . Well, the timing is significant, it took place during the beginning of the annual exercises that the u. S. And south korea hold. And as a very common for north korea to conduct launches at that time. The big question is you say what type of missile as it did there has been the unverified reports that u. S. Officials have been saying that these are existing scott pilot missiles that north korea has tested many times before. If this is the case, this is a serious provocation. One that we should not overlook. But also less threatening than the development of new capabilities that would bring danger to south korea and the United States. Jenna that is interesting context for us. We wait for a little bit more information on what is happening with the test. If you were speaking to the trump team, what is your best advice about how to react to this sort of provocation . Well, a couple of thoughts. The first thing is that the state department has come out and denied the test. The white house themselves not doing so yet. I think it is important for allies in the region, not only south korea, but also japan to hear the president condemn these tests. Secondly, if a lot is going to depend on what type of missile it was. Assuming that these are packed missiles, i would look at accelerating the deployment of missiles in the region. Japan and the missiles were fired by japan, the japanese have thought about using the different system. This is an important response to the program. I will work with the japanese on speeding up that deployment timeline. Jenna Missile Defense is a big topic, not only overseas, but also here as well in the United States. I know it something that you look into quite a bit. We have some new information coming out of iran, there is a toggle between these two places. And this is just the news that we have breaking from the Pentagon Team that it has been overlooked that iran has actually launched to short range missiles over the weekend. And it looks like they are the type that have not been tested and at least two years. So if this is the case, and the Pentagon Team has confirmed day, what goes through your mind . You hear that north korea is firing missiles, but then iran probably pushing the envelope at the same time. Again, this is, i do not have any information about this iran launched, so all i can talk is in very general terms. Again, what i say is that if we are dealing with shortrange uranium missiles that cannot for example reach israel, then that is something that i would not be inclined to escalate the situation. If we are dealing with longerrange missiles that can reach u. S. Allies in the region including israel, then i would think thats a proportionate response is to have sanctions on iran related specifically to the style program. The Obama Administration did that. This is something that the Trump Administration has done so far. It is important not to let longerrange Iranian Missile tests go unchallenged. Sanctions on entities specifically related to those tests seems to be a reasonable and proportionate response. Jenna why do you think north korea and iran are choosing this time to make these tests . Well, i think they probably have quite different reasons. In the case of north korea, as i have already mentioned, there is a big annual south Korean Military exercise going on. North korea always responds to those tests with missile publications. Or at least they have for the last few years. In the case of iran, iran has been conducting test periodically while it has remain in full compliance with the nuclear deal. As i say, how significant these tests are in iran depends on the range of the missile. If these are short arranged missiles, and we do not have implication for israel or other allies, then while i would not downplay the situation, these tests would not be serious threats. Jenna i know you are just getting this information as our way, but i want to share a little bit from the pentagon. From iran, these are shortrange missiles. But apparently they have a new active seeker helping the missile locate ships at sea. This is an official speaking to lucas tomlinson. Im reading through just some of the editorial that we have. They were test firing in barges. And because the waterways around iran are so crucial, and because the shapes are in the region. Does that change the way that you would feel about a short missile test . Again, it depends on the nature of the uranian technology. Iran is not the first country to try and have the ability to attack u. S. Ships at sea. U. S. Ships at sea are armed with short Missile Defenses such as the standard missile set. Specifically to repel the missile attacks. Again, if they are firing off of barges which are fixed objects. That is a much easier task than firing at a moving ship at sea. Especially defended by pretty advanced Missile Defenses. I would, if i had access to the information on this, which i dont. I would delve into the details. I would want to know what kind of seeker it was but how accurate, how reliable, very, very hard in the abstract to suggest how much of a security risk. Jenna a thought for us as well as we looked through some of the headlines to get to some of the specifics. Good of you to work through some of the news with us as we get it. We look forward to having you back on the program. Thank you. Jon still waiting for the new executive orders on immigration. That should be just a few minutes away. In the meantime, President Trumps headaches are going way, as he looks at sensational accusations that president obama is speaking out about all of this. What Vladimir Putin has to say. I dont know why i didnt get screened a long time ago. I kept putting it off. What was i thinking . Ok, mr. Jones. Were all done. I told you it
