FOXNEWSW The Five March 28, 2018

I go in the booth and i voted for jill stein. Who is jill stein . Some doctor. Greg perfect. The roseann reboot aired. 18 Million People watched. Sorry, stormy. This other trump woman trounced her interview. I watched the show. It was messy and robert was also funny. Meaning it was human. Each character was likable but flawed, the antitrumper was irrational. The protrumperi was sloganeering. Hillary was off her saintly perch. On jackie things every girl should grow up to be president if and if they are a liar, liar, pantsuit on fire. I think we know who is a liar and who is on fire. Greg wises so refreshing . People are desperate for a real reflection of the political discussion minus the bias. Left and right were present but neither were based on their in roseannes world, disagreement doesnt take you an enemy. She found a way to shrink the political tribalism, replacing demonization with dialogue which means it can only upset those who need division to keep their fading name in play. Meaning tom arnold. Yes, after i tweeted about the show, saying its the most honest assessment of recent times that isnt found in your own house, the has been used and angry finger to tweet we sure as f are going to find it at greg gutfeld, fox news. I dont know tom but we all know if tom, a faded relic lashes out at the mere thought of a ex doing well. If you are upset someone is successful, its because you arent. Play nice, tom, maybe youll score a bit part as a washed up comic. See how nice i am . I plugged his gig in april. Dana he really has one. Greg april 29. Tom, you owe me that. This is, 18. 2 million viewers. A higher demographic than storm stormy. Dana it is a news show versus a sitcom but okay, fine. Greg dont laugh at my comparisons or i will skip you and go to jesse. Dana i am not laughing. [laughter] kimberly favorable audience with this guy. Jesse has she been skipped . Dana i loved roseanne when i was growing up. I guess i was a lot older than i think i was at the time. I loved watching it. Especially because i grew up in a part of the world where this was a normal family. I knew people who had families like this. My family is like this a little bit. I did think it was funnier than saturn or live task saturday night live has been recently. It was at least more honest in its humor. I thought one payment was interesting aside from the trumphillary stuff was when they were at the table and he brings home the fact of prescription drugs and says i could only get half because thats all i could afford. They make a joke. Five antiinflammatories in five antidepressants. The cost of prescription drugs and health care is a big issue especially for bluecollar obama voters who voted for trump. I thought that was pretty interesting. I watched the second episode as well. Greg 21 years. Worth the wait question you were in your 30s. Jesse yeah, thank you. Theres a few reasons why it was very successful. Abc did a great job playing this out. They have been promoting this for over a year and its been spectacular. The rollout has been very special. I like having to prep for the five by watching tv. Doesnt get any better than that. I really sweat it all out. I watch the first half hour and i thought it was accessible to middleclass americans. Like you said, they are struggling with the cost of perception medication. One of the people had to move back in with her parents because you got fired. The father has a gun in the house. Its a stressful kind of lower middleclass background which has been different because over the years, youve seen sitcom families grow richer and richer and richer while the average family in america stays the same. That was nice that not everybody had a 3,000 suit and lived in a penthouse in manhattan. Also good was they have the gender bending son and the debate over being a surrogate. Usually those topics in network sitcoms are celebrated. They are normalized. In this case, people are struggling with it, and they are grappling with it but they are doing it with humor and they are doing it in an openminded way. I think thats the reality to 90 of the American People. The womans marching sister with the pink hat, the nasty woman, its fantastic. It is very balanced because this is the only time you have seen the conservative protagonist where she is not mocked on network television. Lees sister gets it right back to roseanne. I thought the jokes were relevant and pretty cutting edge. Obamacare jokes, pantsuit jokes, russian jokes, fake news jokes. Even the nonpolitical jokes, the timing was good and the comedy writing is good. The bottom line i believe is that the message of the show is that people come from different political backgrounds, and you dont have to hate each other. You can talk it out and you dont assume that the other persons intentions are evil. Thats what makes it work. Greg juan, that was the thing. There is something refreshing about it in that its an attempt to try to inject civility into kind of an uncivil time. Juan sure. Its good that these people presented on national tv in this way. To me, its good news for conservatives. I think conservatives had always complained i think on the show, kimberly has said wise in their latenight talk show for conservatives. Here we have a sitcom for conservatives for them to say hey, thats a reflection of our values and who we are. I think its a very nice representation in this sense, im not sure most trump people would be accepting of that song, for example. And i loved the joke about jill stein. I know people like that. People who say i dont know about hillary so i voted for jill stein. You wasted a vote in North Carolina for jill stein . Oh, my god. To greg democrats believe jill stein because the election. Juan i do know that she cost the election but she drained to me its crazy. I think kimberly has she been speaking to the russians . There is the collusion for you. They are barking up the wrong tree. Juan when you look at these people talk, i really agree with what jesse said. They are arguing politics in such a way that its refreshing that they havent talked for years, the set up for this, the sisters havent talked for years and the sister comes back. I know this for my own family because i have republicans in my family. You dont need to always be finger pointing and screaming at each other. There are lots of opportunities. I think this show is good news for everybody. Greg everybody has jackie. Thats the leftwinger, in their family. If you have a conservative you might have that. If you are a liberal family, and i have friends who have roseannes and their family. You are roseanne, exactly. Kimberly, what did you make of it . Kimberly i think she is very funny. I have always enjoyed her comedy and sense of humor. She is better at acting than she is at singing. Do you remember that . She has more than made up for it. Demonstrated her patriotism from her love for the president on the show. I think its very interesting that you have a lead in a major comedy show thats conservative, and it works. Maybe the Television Industry should Pay Attention from those monster readings, i think its fun to watch. Its one to watch in terms of how the show addresses and what rating patterns and history and trajectory its going to be. Juan jesse says they didnt do politics and the second segment. Maybe they are going to be less political. I thought it was funny when they made fun of fake news. Not on a real news channel. Dana i was the slouch that watched the second how are second half hour. It wasnt as blatant in terms of the politics that they are talking about issues. The bullying that goes on for the grandson and how to deal with it. It is being underemployed. You want a job. There is 50 people in line to try to get the job you want. Those types of things are interesting. Jennifer palmieri who was the Communications Director for hillary clinton, she was on the 2 00 show today. She has a new book out. She talked about hillary clinton. The book is not just about why she didnt win but roseanne barr, and one of the parts she says i voted for him because he talked about jobs. It really does come down to that. If you are looking at those very narrow margins in wisconsin, michigan. I think pennsylvania was gone away. Michigan and wisconsin for sure. That narrow slice, if she had just talked about jobs more, it mightve put her over the edge. Juan did she say the house was at risk . I thought to myself, now we are in the fiction world. Did that really change the number of jobs . The whole tone is based on elgin, illinois. I dont see all of a sudden left behind rust belt cities have been revived. Dana these types of reunion shows dont always work. Greg fuller house was a bomb. Dana you wonder what characters you liked from 20 years ago. What would that character be like today . Greg friends would be interesting. Dana there would be all sorts of things going on. Kimberly here we go right here. This is the new friends. Schwimmer over here. Juan is roseanne the archie bunker of the 21st century . Greg i feel this show is like the all in the family, it has that feeling and that even if you disagree with roseanne, you still like the character. Kimberly but you are calling roseanne bar racist. Juan i didnt say that. Kimberly that is a big criticism of that character in that show. Archie bunker. Levied heavily. Juan but the jeffersons were his neighbors. Greg they were moving on up. I loved the jeffersons. Kimberly wasnt that a great show . I love red fox mvo we had support from the interfaith groups, the synagogue, the churches. When disaster strikes to one, we all get together and support each other. Thats the nature of humanity. Ill stand by you. Ill stand by you. And ill never desert you. Ill stand by you. A new poll says President Trump is weathering the Stormy Daniels scandal just fine. A poll conducted after the 60 minutes interview suggests that her revelations are unlikely to change the president s standing. 42 approval this week has barely budged from last week. This isnt a new phenomenon. Bill clintons Approval Ratings remained fairly steady during the Monica Lewinsky scandal in 1988. Dana, could you imagine how much better President Trumps approval rate would be if the media wasnt constantly trying to call him a racist traitor, mentally unstable cheater . [laughter] dana i know a Little Something about the media. Republican president s and the media and Approval Ratings. Jesse down with the republican president s because they keep on getting reelected. Dana they said here its the bill clinton effect, as we said. Bill clinton actually benefited over the year of the constant attention on the lewinsky issue. He goes up in the polls. He goes on to have a pretty good popularity rating all the way through until the end back thousands which didnt help al gore but a well. President trump hasnt tweeted about her and i think that has probably helped him. The left loves what he treats about it. I think if they starve the story of more oxygen, it probably ends up going away a little bit. Its not like its helping him and his Approval Ratings are going up. Its not hurting him. Jesse i think President Trump would love those bill clinton Approval Ratings. Granted, even the cnn poll had a pretty high outcome almost at a yearlong high, the high 40s. Is it not working, the negative onslaught . Greg cnn has changed its programming. Its actually a stripper pole, not a normal poll. It is all stormy. Whats interesting about cnn, if we remember, cnn elected donald trump. They were the first to devote so much time to him at the expense of others. They really put him out there. I feel like there might be reelecting donald trump by pushing the scandal too much because its creating rebound sympathy for melania and the white house in general. I dont know if thats true yet, but it could happen. Donald trump, i think the most it is like carnival food. If you are at the fairground and you about to order something and somebody says you know thats fattening, and you go, i factored that into my decision when i am buying this giant bowl of soft serve ice cream. I understand what i am getting. Two scoops. Reality tv and tabloids, you know more about trumps character than the previous six president s combined. You know this when you factored in. I dont know how its going to affect him negatively. Jesse how do you what do you think about the theory that the harsher the need is towards President Trump, the more it rallies his supporters and the more they dig in. And the Approval Ratings stay pretty steady. Juan i dont think thats it is impacting the numbers, trumps numbers are still worse than any president in modern history. Jesse depends on which poll, juan. Juan i leave that to you and greg. When you look at the poll numbers, 56 of americans believe what Stormy Daniels had to say. 35 say they believe the threat she described on 60 minutes is credible. Whats really striking to me is when you ask people well, what about the women involved . High percentage of americans think Stormy Daniels is telling the truth, not President Trump. Among republicans, its 45 of republican women who now believe Stormy Daniels. They are not necessarily shifting away from trump but it does i think some damage to people who believe in the leader of the free world, our country, being an honest, forthcoming, moral person. I have to think thats not helpful. Jesse kimberly, this isnt one of these stories that people are talking about over the water cooler, at dinner, had breakfast, or in the lunchroom. This is not high up on the american priority list. Kimberly i think because it over promised, under delivered. People were talking about may be this revelation, that revelation. There really wasnt. Kind of like what greg said, we know this type of thing as happened before with him, prior to being president. It goes way back. It wasnt in the oval office. It wasnt while he was president , during his term. Stormy has this name because she is a porn star. This was a oneoff event. I dont even know why its getting so much air time. There are other things that are more significant. Dana i think it is the money. The payoff for the silence. I think if the wall street journal had not run this story in january, then we wouldnt even know her name. Kimberly every time you do a settlement, there is an nda. It is a followed by b. Greg i knew the story before that. I thought this was just understood. Jesse s had been bubbling up. Juan you have to keep in mind, i dont know, you seem very happy at the moment. If there is a finding that Michael Cohen made this statement, a few days before the election, there is big trouble brewing in terms of federal election law. Remember john edwards. Jesse we will follow that as a fax. Theres a big battle brewing in the country over two hot topics sanctuary cities in the Second Amendment. President trump weighing in. Im very proud of the fact that i served. I was a c130 mechanic in the corps, so im not happy unless my hands are dirty. Between running a business and four kids, were busy. Auto insurance, homeowners insurance, Life Insurance policies. Knowing that usaa will always have my back. Thats just one less thing you have to worry about. I couldnt imagine going anywhere else. Dana President Trump weighing in on the hot topics we discussed yesterday, the Second Amendment and the debate over sanctuary cities. This morning the president defended the right to bear arms, tweeting the Second Amendment will never be repealed as much as democrats would like to see this happen, and despite the words yesterday of former Supreme Court justice stevens, no way. We need more republicans in 2018 and must always hold the Supreme Court juan, did the former justice do democrats a disservice by suggesting repeal of the second and then Second Amendment is the real goal. Juan i saw the polling that about 20 of the public want this repealed. And theres an argument to be made. I am fully capable of making it, that i dont think everybody should have a gun because we have a militia waiting to form to take on the u. S. Government. But if you are asking about the politics of it, the reaction among democrats. They think it just feeds into republican anger at these young people. I was discussing with greg yesterday, the picture, a fake picture, of the young woman tearing up the constitution. It plays right into it. It is not helpful for people who say. Still the polls are clear the americans want the Second Amendment modified, they wanted limited. Dana kimberly, if you were a republican candidate and you had a tough race, i think the first thing you would do is say democrat, do you agree with, paul stevens . Tried to get them on record. Kimberly absolutely. Thank you so much. Debate team. Thats what you would do. Lets see, see if you will box yourself in on the positioning. I agree with juan. Juan, i appreciate your honesty. He is right. This is not helpful to the democrats. I think it is inordinately helpful to the republicans because its so fa
