No history whatsoever. Learn your history, if you lose your history, you would not be around. You are calling me a liar, and you do not have yes, i want to see the tick ticket. [screaming] martha that is unbelievable. And look at this team, one of the most alarming visuals of the day from st. Louis, a couple pulled their guns out on a group of protesters who they claim came storming on the property. So there is that in st. Louis. So tonight former new york police commissioner, senator kennedy, and karl rove is here tonight. Other guests, all of this bubbling over as other tensions way on the hearts of americans. Covid19 stays put, and it digs in now in florida and texas and arizona, and georgia. Some of these beaches are closing now ahead of the fourth of july weekend. And the hhs secretary azar gives us this warning. Speak of the window is closing. We have to act, and people as individuals have to act responsibly. We need to social distance. We need to wear our face coverings if we are in settings where we cant social distance, particularly in the hot zones. Martha pretty clear collective, and cases of 153,000 in texas, that state has reached a peak high for hospitalizations. One family that got together for a Surprise Party in texas saw 18 members infected and to the father frank barbarossa is reportedly in the icu, but good news this evening that he is now in stable condition. The rest of the family members are recovering at home. Mark blum, president and ceo of the Hospital System in texas with more than 2300 beds per 24,000 employees, one of the biggest Hospital Systems in the country. Dr. Bloom, thank you for being here. So as you see who is coming in now, what is different about this group in terms of their age and the severity . Speak of this wave is really different than the first wave that we saw, in the first wave of about 60 of the people that were testing positive for over 50, now it is completely flipped and about 60 percent are under 50. So that has resulted in a lot more younger people in the hospital as well in the icus where on the first wave was 15 under 50, now rapidly approaching one in three. The good news of that is that lengths of stay have gotten shorter, mortality gone down significantly. As a percentage we are using fewer icu beds as a total percentage. Of the bad news is that it is growing very rapidly. Since memorial day, we are up four times of the patients and house. Martha why is it that you are seeing more younger people who need to be hospitalized . Well, i think that the issue is that we are seeing more younger people who are getting the disease and at some point you will see some of them need to be hospitalized. We see people who are obese and people with diabetes, but the Biggest Issue is this disease is really starting to run rampant through the community and we have seen a major uptick in people infected especially the 60 percent of those under 50 heading that. Martha there was one story that said they are Hospital Systems were getting stressed that you were at 100 capacity for icu and that the possibility as you headed into the fourth of july of not having enough space and facilities for what you need might not be the there. You have clarified that, is that the case . Are you in any danger of not having enough icu units, ventilators, whatever you need . In that time. Matt, absolutely not. Where we were close to 100 on kind of normal icu capacity, we run that day in and day out, now it is 14 have covid in the icu. But we have increased icu beds and things that we can do to move down the number of noncovid patients. There is some runway and some room left. But if this keeps going unchecked and if not all of the citizens pulled together and do what they need to do, this will get out of control and then we become concerned on a linear basis it might be a week. Matt, but if things grow quickly becomes a problem. Martha the houston mayor has asked the governor for a new stay at home order, are you in favor of that . I think that we need to do more. We applaud the governor for closing all bars on friday. The thing that i am most worried about in terms of what is up next is the fourth of july weekend. We saw memorial day is really one of the starting points for things getting out of control. Im worried about what happens on the fourth of july. We have seen family gatherings be one of the big commonalities. You mentioned that 18 members of a family who are ill, we have seen a number of cases and we have a couple of situations where we have two people from a family sidebyside in an icu and other members and other beds or other members stuck at home, people think that they can get all of their groups together and they are safe, but the reality is that they are in different orbits and they come together into an exhibit all of the safety protocols that the highrisk situation. So we need to bring those gatherings down dramatically. Martha good advice, dr. Mark blum from houston. To join them and now is dr. Marty makary, professor of Health Management at hopkins university. And fox news medical contributor. Thank you for being here tonig tonight. What is your assessment of what is going on right now . Martha, down in texas, a quarter of the hospitalizations are people under age 30. While the viruses clustered, it may not stay there for very long. You know the the nature of these epidemics is that things are okay until suddenly they are not. So there will be a crossover at some point. And this is a very critical two months. We do not want to be going into the second wave of 250,000 cases in the country. We want to go into the second wave with 10,000 or 20,000, or as low as we can possibly get. Thats probably as low as we can get. That makes a big difference starting off high seating versus low seating in the second wave. Martha i guess it turned to not really be true that some are in the heat would take some of the energy in the steam out of this virus. It may be that 60 of the velocity of transmission is accounted for by seasonality or the cold season. We know the other four corunna viruses are all seasonal. So it is very stable, but we definitely see a flare of the virus in the cold seasons. Thats why the northern states probably got hit a lot harder initially. Martha one of the Big Questions is what is going on in europe . Why their reopen appears to be going better than our reopen. I want to put up some numbers in terms of the deaths per hundred thousand which is very significant number and how all of this is evaluated. The United States is at 38. We are still well below those european nations. What are your thoughts on that, doctor . If you look at asia, europe, many other northern states of the United States, they have been able to manage the virus and the spread after initial outbreaks with universal masking and dedensification or distancing. That is a strategy that has worked in about 20 different countries. There is good evidence, and we can learn from those lessons. Thats probably the first step that a lot of policymakers should take on the local level is mandatory masking in public areas indoors when social distancing is not feasible. Martha we have been hearing that from mysteries are, a lot of folks saying that they should have been sticking to that quite a long time ago, and it mightve made a difference in what we are seeing right now. But this is so, it is so political in terms of these interpretations. There was a wall street journal editorial on this where the numbers came from about our lower death rate that we are seeing in europe. When you look at governor cuomo, he is continuing to slam the white house obviously new york has the highest death rate in the whole country. He says wake up, america, covid is getting worse not better. The white house is in denial. What he said on peppery 26 was that this is not a situation that should cause undue fear for new yorkers. Get 17,000 last week who tested positive with the flu. We have dealt with situations like this in the past and we will deal with it again. What do you think about how political this has become, doctor . The good news is it is less and less political as leaders see their own people in long lines for hours trying to get testing. If the testing infrastructure right now is strained going into the second wave. You can see the change in tone in the governor of texas and the governor of florida. If they are starting to ask themselves, tell me as a medical professional what i need to do, and they are willing to say that they have made mistakes. And reopening in the face of increased not meeting any of the federal reopening criteria is one of those things that is being reevaluated. Martha it seems like a lot of states it rolled through after it came through this area primarily. They have started to open up before it ever really hit them, is that accurate . That is accurate and we learn more about the micro droplets mechanism of transmission. When we were telling people to wash her hands like crazy, we should have told them to wear masks and work on ventilation. Maybe the elevators and the highrises in new york and the public transmit was a part of that transition. Martha is it safe to open indoor restaurants . Are you a believer in the uv filters that indoor places should put in place . Uv filters help a little bit, but there is Nothing Better than masking indoors. When you are in a restaurant, they need dedensification or a lower capacity in areas where there are outbreaks. And in the Northern Areas they can open safely now. What decides whether or not the infection spreads rapidly is whether the local people take it seriously. When they blow it off, thats where we see outbreaks. These things are baked for weeks. So interventions have to take now and helping us in four or five weeks from now. Martha always good to talk to you. Thank you, sir. Thank you, martha. Martha across the country in dramatic numbers, the kids lives that mattered are no more. These are the names, anton douglass, nina nunes, and 1yearold all killed in cross fire in chicago over the last couple of days. We add their names to the list of those that you will not likely see pictured or remembered anywhere across this country. Bernie kerik joins me in a moment. Unlike other sleep aids, our extended release melatonin helps you sleep longer. And longer. Zzzquil pure zzzs all night. Fall asleep. Stay asleep. What do we wburger. Inner . I want a sugar cookie. Wait. I want a bucket of chicken. I want. Its the easiest because its the cheesiest. Kraft. For the win win. Martha as we have seen all across the country, protesters in this case want to take a billion dollars out of the new York City Police budget and as Police Presence lowers in some cases, cities across the country are plunged into a summer of gun violence not seen in america in a very long time. The New York Post shows the city spiraling out of control over 80 people shot in a week at least six fatalities. Including High School Star basketball player Brandon Hendrix. This 17yearold was headed for a full scholarship to play at st. Johns this fall. His High School Coach said of him on instagram, what can we do as a community and a society to prevent our princes from killing each other so senselessly. Im sure that the bullets that hooked brandons life was not meant for him. He was not that kid. But they should not have been meant for anyone. We need to find a way to get our Young Brothers to value not just the lives of others, but to value their lives. In chicago at least 65 people were shot in a single weekend. 18 of them were killed. Including these three children whose names you should know as well. 17yearold antiwon douglas. 17yearold lena nunes. And 1yearold. Good to have you here, sir. This is getting out of control. Its already out of control across the country. You know, the numbers in chicago have even risen since last night. I think that they are up to 114 over the weekend. But the bottom line is that that is been going on in chicago and other cities like chicago that are run by democrats for the last several years. Whats frightening to me is what is happening in new york city. Where you had 30 years of crime reduction, 30 years of Violent Crime reduction, 30 years of murder reduction in some of the most substantial murder reduction in the history of the country and within a matter of a year under de blasio and governor cuomo, that has completely reversed to the point of over 300 increase in shootings in a 30day period. Martha we have seen a lot of changes. This is mayor de blasio. Lets play this. Very concerned about the uptick in shootings, we have to make sure that we can handle that. And we have to make reform. I came here to make her a foreign. We have to make reform the right way. And i am convinced that we have now struck that balance. Martha what do you say to that . Balance . The increase of Violent Crime and reform . The only reforms they have put forward is the bail reform which basically is an element where you dont lock anybody up. They get arrested and they are out within six hours im back doing what they were doing in the first place. What is the reform . There is no reform. The only thing going on is this continual increase in Violent Crime and murder. Martha he wants to cut 1 billion from the nypd budget and put it into social workers and other people who he is saying can do more to help what is going on in the streets. Heres what happens if you take 15 of the nypds budget. You lose their capability for counterterrorism measures, you will lose patrol measures. You will lose resources. You will lose equipment. That is an enormous hit for the nypd. It is irresponsible. It is dangerous. And if anybody in the nypd in the management arena, any of them if they have the courage to do so, they will tell you that is the worst thing he could do for the city of new york. Martha we saw that Police Officers over the weekend were hit with glass bottles. I think we have video of that. Responding to a spot shot her a call at 4 00 a. M. There was a party that was underway and the bottles were turned on them. You know what, this is what happens when you embolden the criminal element. This is what happens when people in the community, the thugs in the community, when they realize that they cant be arrested. Nobody is going to touch them. The cops are afraid of them. The cops are afraid to do their job. Martha the thing that kills me is if these young men who end up getting shot, who end up dying. As i said in the beginning here, and this is from palm beach, florida, but listen to this grandmothers outcry about what is going on. This is what tressa jones. Our kids are getting shot up just as much as as much as these numbers you put up here. Chicago, shot. And they dont do anything. I want to see yall get up and start starving the people. And each and every one of you, will not be reelected to these seats if you think you are going to continue to take these young black kids and use them to your palms on the table. She is right. She is absolutely 100 right. The Political Leadership in these cities, whether it is chicago, west palm, no matter where it is. The Political Leadership is at fault. When you diminish the Police Coming you defund the police, you dont let the police do their job, Violent Crime and murder is going to increase, and thats what we are seeing. It has happened for 20, 30, 40 years in chicago and know it will happen all over the country and the democrats are allowing it to happen, and that woman, whoever she is, she was 100 right. Martha Brandon Hendrix was supposed to be playing at st. Johns in the fall, it is heartbreaking that he wont have that opportunity because of the violence that we are seeing in the city and all of the other children that we have shown over the last few weeks as well. Thank you very much. Always good to see you, sir. Thank you for being here. Still coming up, Supreme Court ruling that a louisiana law interferes with a womans constitutional right to an abortion as once again the chief justice sides with the liberal justices. Why senator kennedy finds it extremely troubling. He joins me next. Were always here to help with Fast Response and Great Service and it doesnt stop there were also here to help look ahead thats why were helping members catch up by spreading any missed usaa insurance payments over the next twelve months so you can keep more cash in your pockets for when it matters most and thats just one of the many ways were here to help the military Community Find out more at usaa. Com martha chief Justice John Roberts who sided with liberal justices in two big rulings this month on dhaka and lgbt q rights taking some heats from fellow conservatives as the Supreme Court strikes down in louisiana law which would have required doctors who perform abortions in the state to have admitting privileges at a nearby hospital. The 54 ruling has abortion rights activists celebrating. Women have larger access today to make a decision then they will have the best impact for their lives in the lives that they choose or not choose to bring into the world. Martha john kennedy joins me now, good evening, senator. What is your reaction and what is the reaction of the people of your constituency and louisiana . The process bothers me as much as the result. The chief justice today joined with four liberals on the court to strike down the louisiana statute. Four years ago in a case out of texas, same statute, same issue come the chief justice voted with the conservatives. Today he voted with the liberals. He changed his vote. He flipflopped. He flipflopped like a catfish. And thats why i say the process worries me is much as a result. This is why so many people think that our federal courts, our federal judges have done nothing but politicians and robes. The chief justice famously says all the time that he is just calling balls and strikes. Well, four years ago he called a ball. Today he called the same pick, he called a strike. And i
