Youve been at the office, youve been working in a factory , whatever youre up to. Well, were going to have some fun tonight. Busy hour to tonight. A very busy hour to come, but before we get stuck into tonights show, lets head over washington, where over to washington, dc, where gb is very own. Nigel gb news is very own. Nigel farage the farage is at cpac, the conservative Political Action conference. Lets lets catch up with what what exactly nigel is saying a bunch of teenage kids. So ive been doing this forever, and i was completely alone in british politics. I was completely and utterly alone inside the european parliament, which was an experience that i enjoyed very much more than they did in the years that i was there. And i was certainly in there. And i was certainly in there. And i was certainly in the united kingdom, complete and utterly on my own. In thinking utterly on my own. In thinking back in 2016 that not only was donald trump a very good candidate for the republican party, but i also predicted that he would win that election in 2016. And im very pleased that i did. And ive been and unwavering supporter of his ever since that day. But i might have since that day. But i might have had a few problems with banking, but just look at what theyre doing to him. Look at that doing to him. Look at that judgement in new york last week, a private contract between a commercial company and the banks, a sum of money borrowed, a sum of money repaid with interest. No one lost any money. Interest. No one lost any money. No one was defrauded. And yet no one was defrauded. And yet somehow the utterly corrupted and politicised judicial system in parts of this country finds him 350 million. I cant think. Him 350 million. I cant think. I honestly cant think of a more absurd or obscene court judge moment that ive ever seen in my life, and these are and this is just the beginning of many battles that he faces over the course of the next few months, you know, corrupt regimes, undemocratic countries, they either try to bankrupt or imprison their political opponents. And in the case of opponents. And in the case of the biden regime, they are trying to do both to donald trump. And that is why he needs from all of us our absolute total commitment and our unwavering support for him as a man , unwavering support. He is. Man, unwavering support. He is. And i know what its like. I know what its like to be demonised. I know what its like to be called all the names under the sun, but i can tell you hes been through a lot more of it than i have. And simply, folks, i believe that donald trump is the bravest that i have ever the bravest man that i have ever met in my life. If i really do, met in my life. If i really do, i really, really do. So now its i really, really do. So now its not just me in the european parliament, the renew partys right across the continent. Weve got european elections happening. On the 9th of june happening. On the 9th of june this year. Thats going to see many , many more people coming in many, many more people coming in that want to fight the globalist agenda. And its not just me for the united kingdom. Im thinking the united kingdom. Im thinking trump needs to win this election. And needs to win this election, not just for america, but frankly , for the western but frankly, for the western world and perhaps even saving the very elements of our western civilisation that we hold dear. And we do know not just me. Weve now got two former conservative prime ministers including liz truss, who was here, Boris Johnson as well, saying they want trump to win the election. So on issue after the election. So on issue after issue , on issue after issue , i issue, on issue after issue, i used to be what wed say in engush used to be what wed say in english slang. I used to be english slang. I used to be billy nomates. I was literally on my own. I was some kind of on my own. I was some kind of weird outsider. And now i find weird outsider. And now i find those things that i fought for 30 years are becoming mainstream and becoming popular. And that is good. That is good. And i look ahead , i look ahead to the look ahead, i look ahead to the election that will take place this year in america. And whilst i still have some reservations about the way in which the electoral system has been cleaned up state by state and i still have some concerns about that, im still in no doubt that on november the 5th, were going to get donald trump back elected. And in the white house, its going to happen, isnt it . Its going to happen, isnt it . Its going to happen, isnt it . Its going to happen. Isnt it good . Good because thats what we need. Belief, confidence , need. Belief, confidence, courage. But it cant happen courage. But it cant happen soon enough. I mentioned a soon enough. I mentioned a moment ago western civilisation. Moment ago western civilisation. And what is western civilisation 7 and what is western civilisation . We think about whats been built. In the . We think about whats been built. In the case of my country for more than 1000 years. Whats been built out, whats been improved upon and whats been defended. And by countries , by defended. And by countries, by the country literally going to war. What weve been defending are the basic concepts of the family of the nation and what we all have to understand is the fundamental underpinning of everything that we call western civilisation is our Judeo Christian culture that is at the heart of who we are , of what we heart of who we are, of what we are. And this week in london, are. And this week in london, weve seen the consequences is of forgetting that the consequences of not having the moral courage to stand up and defend that. Whilst youve been defend that. Whilst youve been here at cpac and on your way here, we have seen the most disgraceful and disgusting scenes in london. Thousands of people in Parliament Square waving palestinian flags, chants in Parliament Square and on marches through our cities that call for the destruction of israel. And frankly , the people israel. And frankly, the people within it. And the low point this week , i think, was the this week, i think, was the image being put onto big ben, which read from the river to the sea , palestine shall be free. Sea, palestine shall be free. That went on big ben , that that that went on big ben, that that was calling for the destruction of the jewish people. And there of the jewish people. And there hasnt been a single arrest. Hasnt been a single arrest. Just imagine the equivalent here that somebody flashed that image onto your white house think how you would feel. And now we see you would feel. And now we see british politicians as cowed, scared. And they were even scared. And they were even scared. And they were even scared to leave the building. On wednesday and thursday evenings because weve forgotten who we are. Weve forgotten what we are, and weve allowed an extremist fringe to bully us and threaten our very democracy. And threaten our very democracy. And thatis threaten our very democracy. And that is why we need strong leaders , why we need leaders of leaders, why we need leaders of conviction. Its why you in conviction. Its why you in america , and we in the world america, and we in the world need trump back in that white house to return some common sense. But but let me say this sense. But but let me say this to you. Please dont just come along to cpac to listen to the great guy tomorrow and hell be his usual self. Hell be larger than life. Hell say things that than life. Hell say things that enrage the left wing press. Enrage the left wing press. Hell be funny. Hell be terrific. You know he will. Hell be terrific because he loves you. The Grassroots Movement in this country. But coming along to cpac and enjoying the event, going to the cocktail parties , the way im cocktail parties, the way im feeling today, the endless cocktail parties that happened in the evening, agreeing isnt enough. Coming together with friends, meeting new friends. It isnt enough. If you really want isnt enough. If you really want this to work , and i want it to this to work, and i want it to work here because it is our western civilisation that we need to start standing up and defending. But this to happen. Defending. But this to happen. It needs you to commit to doing more than that. You folks have got to get your walking boots on. Or maybe golden sneakers. So on. Or maybe golden sneakers. So please, i urge you, if you want the same things that we want this election here in america affects all of us. It affects the safety of the world. As for the safety of the world. As for the First Time Since 1945, a possibility of world war iii looks real. We only get the right things in life. If peace only comes through strength and trump can deliver it. Please do your all to go out, work hard, donate , put your walking boots donate, put your walking boots on, deliver your leaflets. Lets get this man back in the white house and lets get common sense back into the western world. Thank you very much indeed. Thank you very much indeed. Thank you very much indeed. Thank you , thank you. Thank you, thank you. There you go. There you go. Live from the United States. A barn storming performance from nigel farage. Gb news star, of course, giving his backing to donald trump for his run for the white house later this year, he said it is essential that the conservative movement in america and around the world supports donald trump in order to get the United States back on its feet. United states back on its feet. There he was speaking live from the conservative Political Action conference. Its action conference. Its fantastic stuff now moving on to other aspects of the show should sir keir starmer resign over the gaza vote scandal . Can speaker gaza vote scandal . Can speaker hoyle survive the crisis . Does hoyle survive the crisis . Does Shamima Begum deserve to be a british citizen . Do we need an inquiry into the covid 19 vaccine . And how about this one . Is menopause a disability . All of that, plus much more on friday night live with me. Mark dolan. We start a little later than usual thanks to nigel with my friday big opinion. Than usual thanks to nigel with my friday big opinion. A baying my friday big opinion. A baying mob threatening murder, forcing the scrapping of a vote in westminster , the mother of all westminster, the mother of all parliaments and the home of our representative democracy. What representative democracy. What a time to be alive. Can culture and big tech censorship has seen free speech brought into question in recent years , and question in recent years, and now a terrifying bloodthirst a rabble of extremists disc and on the Nations Capital to threaten our elected officials. No one our elected officials. No one comes out of this utter debacle with any credit. Its the leader with any credit. Its the leader of the opposition, sir keir starmer, lobbies the speaker of the house to scrap a perfectly reasonable snp vote on whether an immediate ceasefire should happenin an immediate ceasefire should happen in gaza. Stop his argument was the safety of his mps, who he said could be attacked or murdered if they didnt vote for an immediate ceasefire. The funny, though, that by getting his way, the outcome is that he avoided an embarrassing defeat with the humiliating backbencher revolt and a likely front page frontbench set of resignations. Frontbench set of resignations. Thats very convenient for keir starmer. Labour denied that starmer. Labour denied that starmer threatened Lindsay Hoyle that hed cease to be speaker in the event of a labour government, but they dont need to make that threat, do they . Its implicit that his failure to support the Party Leadership would be duly noted. Its also worth pointing out that bbc newsnights nicholas watt, no friend of the tories , is friend of the tories, is standing by his story that the labour Party Leadership did indeed make such a threat to chuck him out when they achieve power. Um, extraordinary stuff. Power. Um, extraordinary stuff. Now the speaker is supposed to be independent. Hes not there to be lobbied and cajoled. Guilt tripped or bullied by members of parliament. He just has to be impartial all and maintain parliamentary protocol, speak for hoyle is a decent man and has impressed mps from across the house with his efforts in recent years. Hes been like recent years. Hes been like mary bloody poppins compared to that bad tempered and proven bully john bercow. Its bully john bercow. Its therefore unfortunate that hoyles unconstitutional actions, which im told he was advised against doing by parliamentary staff, have advised against doing by parliamentary staff , have got parliamentary staff, have got the labour party out of a political bind. A labour split political bind. A labour split would have been very illuminating for the british people, who would have been indulged with an exclusive and compelling preview of what a starmer government might actually look like, one utterly divided the optics would have been potentially disastrous for sir keir starmer, with a clear message that this man has no real control over his own party. See if they do win. I actually hope that labour achieve a landslide victory. God help us if they only get a slim , narrow if they only get a slim, narrow majority in which case the bonkers left of the party, the likes of John Mcdonnell , richard likes of John Mcdonnell, Richard Burgon and self confessed proud socialist rebecca long bailey , socialist rebecca long bailey, bailey will hold the whip hand over the man who would be our next prime minister. The lefts answer to the erg yikes. Next prime minister. The lefts answer to the erg yikes. Now hoyle was either naive in yielding to starmers lobbying , yielding to starmers lobbying, or he allowed his Party Loyalty to prevail because whilst as speaken to prevail because whilst as speaker, he is an independent, he entered the house of commons as a labour mp, either is disastrous for someone whos role is to be the custodian of our elected chamber. Those defending him would argue he was deeply worried about the idea that labour mps could face violence if the vote went ahead , violence if the vote went ahead, and they didnt support an immediate ceasefire. But if hoyle genuinely made this decision for fear of mob violence , then as speaker, he violence, then as speaker, he has allowed the to house of commons be dictated to by an army of violent thugs outside of parliament, projecting the words from the river to the sea, a known anti semitic slogan onto elizabeth tower, known more colloquially as big ben. If the colloquially as big ben. If the opfics colloquially as big ben. If the optics of hateful, racist language projected onto probably our most iconic building and the home of our democracy, dont worry you if that image of big ben hijacked by anti jewish propaganda doesnt demonstrate were losing control of our country, its laws and its values, then i cant help you just reflect for a moment on the idea that members of parliament are now afraid to vote a certain way in the house of commons for fear of physical attack. When they are outside. That our they are outside. That our parliament is sovereign and all powerful , is sacrosanct in this powerful, is sacrosanct in this country. See this pathetic fudge country. See this pathetic fudge by speaker hoyle as a result of pressure from renowned political opportunities , sir keir starmer opportunities, sir keir starmer will give encouragement and succour to those dangerous ideologues who preach hate, death and destruction, and whose pronouncements are not just illegal but are an affront to british values. These vicious british values. These vicious thugs are threatening to tear down our democracy. The speaker down our democracy. The speaker of the house is there to uphold democracy, not undermine it, which is what was allowed to happen earlier this week. This happen earlier this week. This is like political and cultural quicksand and we are sinking fast. Britain as we recognise it, risks becoming a thing of the past. Welcome to hell the past. Welcome to hell. Coming up , the past. Welcome to hell. Coming up, should sir keir starmer step down and can speaker hoyle survive the crisis . Full reaction to my big opinion from Philip Davies mp, Michael Crick and Stephanie Takyi. Michael crick and Stephanie Takyi. My. Radio. Coming up. Should sir keir starmer resign over the gaza vote scandal, will be joined by the former leader of the liberal democrats , vince cable. But democrats, vince cable. But first, lets get more reaction to the fallout from the ceasefire vote that never was with me in the studio is gb news favourite and conservative member of parliament for shipley , Philip Davies. Plus my friday friends , the wonderful stephanie friends, the wonderful Stephanie Takyi and Michael Crick. Now takyi and Michael Crick. Now listen, its great to have you in the studio with us, philip. First of all, you were there with ringside seats for this drama midweek. Whats your reaction to the manoeuvres of labour and the fact that in the end, this vote didnt happen . Well , the decision the well, the decision the speaker made was indefensible. I mean, it was completely wrong. He just changed the rules. Um, and, you know, hes a referee. Hes supposed to apply the rules, say, dont like rules, not say, i dont like this rule, so we this particular rule, so we wont with it today. Wont bother with it today. Thats acceptable. Im not thats not acceptable. Im not one of the people who wants him to i him to stay. To leave. I want him to stay. I think hes a good, decent, honourable man. He made a mistake hes the mistake and hes come to the house twice to say he made a mistake. And we should accept that move on. But he was that and move on. But he was clearly under intolerable clearly put under intolerable pressure the labour Party Pressure by the labour party and the ive the labour leader. And ive spoken about what spoken to labour mps about what went on and they he they clearly said the speaker that labour said to the speaker that labour mps serious mps would be under serious physical he didnt physical threat if he didnt allow amendment to go. And allow this amendment to go. And ive phrase you ive heard the phrase of, you know, youll have blood on your hands that is completely and hands now that is completely and utterly to be put utterly unacceptable to be put in of pressure on the in that kind of pressure on the speaker the of Commons Speaker of the house of commons and that is true, if that is and if that is true, if that is true, then keir starmer has got some very questions. And some very serious questions. And i i think a complaint i believe, i think a complaint has to the has gone in about him to the standards commissioner today about that bringing the about about that bringing the house into disrepute. Michael crick, that sounds like emotional blackmail from the of the labour party. The leader of the labour party. Well exactly what well we dont know exactly what went on, i dont think i doubt very. Very much. I mean, keir starmer is not an extreme man. He doesnt use extreme language. The extreme language. And the trouble with the whole of this debate, outside and i have debate, both outside and i have to inside, including your to say inside, including your opinion is that we opinion piece, mark, is that we all need to calm down a bit. I mean, you say at the end of your piece, britain, as we recognise it, becoming a thing of it, risks becoming a thing of the , but you know, the past, but well, you know, britain has been known as the place of fair play, tolerance, moderation in temperate language and the whole of what went on in parliament and our discussion around it. And you calling, you around it. And you calling, you know, asking whether starmer should resign and even more, the whole of the well, frankly, lack of debate about whats been going on in gaza and israel. Uh, is it is worrying and its a mess. But, i mean, you were way mess. But, i mean, you were way over the top in your i mean, you were talking about a baying mob threatening murder, a terrifying , bloodthirsty rabble of extreme beasts. Um, you know, thugs threatening to tear down our democracy. Okay, there are a few individual idiots and thugs out there, but the vast majority of there, but the vast majority of the people and many of them are my friends, and some of them are my friends, and some of them are my family who have marched in those palestinian marches are people genuinely people who are genuinely concerned the plight of the concerned for the plight of the palestinians right now, in gaza and over the last, ever since the establishment of the state of israel and the way in which, uh, you know, bit by bit, the prospect of a two state solution to this has been taken away by this extremist government in, in. Tel aviv. And the way in which debate in this country has been stifled. And, by the way, by people saying anybody whos critical of the state of israel in its current form, the government of israel is immediately denounced as anti semitic , conflating lots of anti semitic, conflating lots of different things. So i am i am those those marches. Yes, marches. Ive defended because i think the majority of them seeking. You did actually. Yeah. But you implied in other parts that anybody protesting was an extremist. Definitely that no, i definitely that wouldnt be my view. But the issue is that this didnt issue is that this vote didnt happen the threat of happen because of the threat of violence towards mps, as expressed the leader the expressed by the leader of the opposition. Is not opposition. This is not a Conspiracy Theory dreamt up by opposition. This is not a consthese theory dreamt up by opposition. This is not a consthese are ory dreamt up by opposition. This is not a consthese are keir reamt up by opposition. This is not a consthese are Keir Starmers3y me. These are Keir Starmers words concerns. Words and concerns. Lets lets make it clear these opposition day debates are not the most important parliamentary occasions. Theyre parliamentary occasions. Theyre not binding. Not binding. They are politically significant. If labour lose it, if labour suffer a rebellion front page front bench resignation, that is indeed the it is significant. Then there is a clear split going on right in the labour party right now. But lets calm down, shall we . And not not make out that parliament is surrounded by a mob. It was literally surrounded by a mob on wednesday night. Well, and they fasted the hologram, the projection from the river to the seas. I dont think people should be allowed to put holograms on on the on the, on the elizabeth tower. But but even that you say thatis tower. But but even that you say that is clearly an anti semitic anti Semitic Jewish slogan. No, it is a slogan of the palestinian. Many of the people who come out with that slogan are , most of the people who come are, most of the people who come out with that slogan are not anti semitic, anti jewish, shouldnt starmer say shouldnt starmer just say palestinian . Shouldnt starmer just say palshouldnt starmer shouldnt starmer just say pal shouldnt starmer just shouldnt starmer just say palshouldnt starmer just say shouldnt starmer just say what to the speaker . What he said to the speaker . Should he not just tell us what he said . What words he help . Yes yeah, exactly. But he wont really. But i mean, the more worrying thing whether is worrying thing is whether is whether some other labour person threaten speaker if threaten and the speaker that if you then were you dont do this then were going you right. Going to vote you out right. Stephanie do think it Stephanie Takyi i do think it is a day for sir Lindsay Hoyle because a e mp should have trust in the commons. Speaker and clearly lost that. And hes clearly he lost that. And hes lost. Got this growing lost. Hes got this growing amount of vote of no confidence as well. He i think he did. Amount of vote of no confidence as well. He i think he did. And as well. He i think he did. And also its a sign of things to come. If there is a labour government, because it means that theres more room for dirty politics. Clearly he wasnt politics. And clearly he wasnt being impartial in that. And he does need to face the music when it comes to this. Mean, look, whilst were i mean, look, whilst were talking, lets a talking, stephanie, lets take a little at Martin Daubney little look at Martin Daubney being egged outside parliament on wednesday day, demonstrating that there was a rabble. I understand that my language was pretty spicy, but lets take a look at this. Actually, well play look at this. Actually, well play the whole clip if i want to cry. Cry. Look, rosa. For look, rosa. For look, rosa. For can you exaggerating a rabble. An egging. Thereve been eggings in british. Im sure philips been egged before. Now. Philips been egged before. Now. You know edward heath. I remember having ink spilled all over him and things like that. It from time to time this happens. Its not a good idea. But lets not exaggerate. Its but lets not exaggerate. Its not the end of democracy as we know. Stephanie and i do. Overstated situation . Do think the talk of an do you think the talk of an angry rabble is overstated . Most of the media angry rabble is overstated . Because 3st of the media angry rabble is overstated . Because to of the media angry rabble is overstated . Because to be the media angry rabble is overstated . Because to be honest, iia angry rabble is overstated . Because to be honest, most has, because to be honest, most of these protests are peaceful and the actions of the few and not the actions of the few shouldnt tarnish whole shouldnt tarnish the whole entire protesters. Most of them entire protesters. Most of them are for peace. Weve are marching for peace. Weve had problem since october had this problem since october 7. People are calling for a ceasefire. But the thing is, theres very little we can do as a country anyway. A country anyway. Philip davies i dont agree with Stephanie Takyi or Michael Crick even though theyre good friends because i think friends of mine, because i think that mps have been threatened in their theres their constituencies. Theres talk of some mps having sort of panic buttons or alarms in their own constituency homes because of theyre facing. Of the threats. Theyre facing. Rachel streeting Rachel Reeves wes streeting Angela Rayner have all been set upon by these thugs. So i defend what ive had to say. Yeah, i mean , weve all had ive had mean, weve all had ive had some ive had some deeply unpleasant messages from telling my constituents i support israel. Some people spent night some people have spent night in custody based on the in Police Custody based on the messages that theyve sent to sent and all the rest of sent to me and all the rest of it. Lets not it. But look, lets not overstate it. I saw the clip with Rachel Reeves. She was challenged people in public. Challenged by people in public. That happens all the time to politicians. Happens me. Politicians. That happens to me. Thats reasonable thats a perfectly reasonable part if you cant part of democracy. If you cant hold your own and argue your corner, i. I suggest you shouldnt in politics. And it shouldnt be in politics. And it seemed me just couldnt seemed to me she just couldnt argue her corner. Do think argue her corner. Do you think she ran away. She she ran and she ran away. She was weak to give to throw michael bone. Michael crick a bone. Shouldnt although i shouldnt encourage him and feed the monster. Do you think monster. But do you think actually concerns about actually that concerns about this our democracy this assault on our democracy have overstated to have been overstated to a certain extent . Think theres a group of i think theres a group of mps who like to be victims and like to have have that. Its an unfortunate part of the situation. I they need to situation. I think they need to be a bit robust. Anybody be a bit more robust. Anybody who a way to who is voting in a way to appease a mob isnt worthy of being in parliament, as far as im concerned. But look, we shouldnt people shouldnt stop people approaching politicians the approaching politicians in the street and giving them a hard approaching politicians in the street michael ng them a hard approaching politicians in the street michael madeem a hard approaching politicians in the street michael made iiisi hard approaching politicians in the street michael made his career by time. Michael made his career by going giving politicians going and giving politicians a hard and he hard time in the street, and he did that to me. And its perfectly its perfectly legitimate. We i dont want this perfectly its perfectly legideaate. We i dont want this perfectly its perfectly legideaate. Vpolitician want this perfectly its perfectly legideaate. Vpolitician shouldiis an idea that politician should be behind a metal be hidden away behind a metal screens , and everything away screens, and everything away from were there to be from the public were there to be challenged by by the police. Im alone. Alone. A lone voice on this one, because i think were in the realms of death we. Death threats. Of course we. Well unacceptable. Well theyre unacceptable. Ago. No. Of course. But years ago. No. Of course. No, all of that. Theres line no, all of that. Theres a line to but and to draw. But going and challenging a politician in the street, to my mind , is the street, its to my mind, is the cut and thrust of politics. Make of slogan do you make of that slogan being projected . Do you make of that slogan beiithatojected . Do you make of that slogan beiithat was ed . Do you make of that slogan beiithat was completely that was completely unacceptable. The police unacceptable. And the police should dealt with they should have dealt with it. They should have dealt with it. They should have dealt with it. They should have dealt with the perpetrator. From the to the sea. Is anti semitic. Yes, it clearly is. It clearly is. Thats clearly is the intention behind it. Its unacceptable. The police unacceptable. And the police should with it. And should have dealt with it. And the police, the policing of these been these protests has been unacceptable. These protests has been unaccetoable. These protests has been unacceto happen that they things to happen that they shouldnt have allowed to happen, have happen, that they should have clamped and theres clamped down on. And theres been much tolerance of been far too much tolerance of that. The police to get that. The police need to get a grip of some of these protests. Philip, let me that you philip, let me say that you havent in havent wasted a second in parliament and you were very busy this week, drawing attention its busy this week, drawing at conversation its busy this week, drawing at conversation we its busy this week, drawing atconversation we need its busy this week, drawing atconversation we need have. No, were talking no, no, no, were talking about young or healthy , healthy about young or healthy, healthy men women who dying men and women who are just dying with men and women who are just dying witiand we dont we dont and we dont and we dont know why. Im not saying that im not speculating as to why. We now the sad we dont know why now. The sad part is , is that the data does part is, is that the data does exist as to why, you know, there is data out there which i, you know, official mortality data is there. I understand that the uk , there. I understand that the uk, hsa and the ons and the and the mhra, all these Health Agencies have shared this information with pharmaceutical companies, but havent shared it with but they havent shared it with parliamentarians or the general public. And of course, what you end up with on the back of that is people speculate as to what the reason is for all these excess deaths and, you know, a lot of relates to the covid lot of it relates to the covid Covid Vaccine that lots of people say Covid Vaccine is people say the Covid Vaccine is responsible it. Now my point responsible for it. Now my point is, you cant rule that in and you that out because you cant rule that out because we simply dont and we just simply dont know. And what is, if the what i would say is, if the government and the Health Agencies want to end this speculation , all have to do speculation, all they have to do is publish the data so we can all for see ourselves what the reasons , and then we can all reasons are, and then we can all make a rational based make a rational decision based on but all theyre doing is on it. But all theyre doing is encouraging all of this wild speculation. And by not speculation. And by not publishing the data. And of course, the more they dont pubush course, the more they dont publish it, the more people say, well, got well, theyve clearly got something thats something to hide. And thats a reasonable to it. So reasonable reaction to it. So all say is, can they publish all i say is, can they publish this data and explain for the for why theyre not . And briefly, youre not alone as a member of parliament, concerned about this, the likes of professor carl heneghan, who is a professor of evidence based medicine at oxford university, hes happy with the hes also not happy with the statistics and the data, and hes concerned about, you know, not having enough information at his disposal to get an answer. Yes. And we need to know these are not numbers, by the way. Ones. Way. These are loved ones. These are people. Family are people. These are family members. All have a right members. They all have a right to know exactly whats happened. And know. And and we just dont know. And youre its not just me. Youre right. Its not just me. Ive just sent a letter asking for data. Its a cross for this data. Its a Cross Party Letter for people from all parties. Must have this parties. But we must have this data i the media data. And i think the media should doing much more in should be doing much more in pressing ministers pressing government ministers and agencies say, and the Health Agencies to say, can we have this data . If and the Health Agencies to say, can why ave this data . If and the Health Agencies to say, can why not . His data . If and the Health Agencies to say, canphilip iot . His data . If and the Health Agencies to say, canphilip davis,; data . If and the Health Agencies to say, canphilip davis, more . If and the Health Agencies to say, canphilip davis, more powerif and the Health Agencies to say, canphilip davis, more power to philip davis, more power to you catch up soon, have a cracking weekend and sell our send love the misses cracking weekend and sell our send up. Ve the misses cracking weekend and sell our send up. Should e misses cracking weekend and sell our send up. Should sir1isses coming up. Should sir keir starmer resign over the gaza vote scandal . Will be joined by the leader of lib the former leader of the lib dems, vince whos. To gb news radio. Coming up. Does Shamima Begum deserve to be a british citizen . And is the be a british citizen . And is the menopause a disability . But first, as pressure grows on the house of Commons Speaker to resign after his decision to axe a vote on an immediate ceasefire in gaza , does the leader of the in gaza, does the leader of the opposition have a case to answer, given that it was his meeting with the speaker which led to this debacle . Writing in the telegraph today, their top columnist tom harris says that if the speaker goes , sir keir if the speaker goes, sir keir starmer must go to , so should starmer must go to, so should hoyle and starmer both pay the price for what many see as the abdication of our democracy . Lets get the views now of esteemed politics. Veteran, former business secretary and leader of the liberal democrats , leader of the liberal democrats, when they were fantastic and very valuable. Vince cable, vince, great to have you back on the show. Do you think sir keir was wrong to push for the scrapping of this vote . Scrapping of this vote . Well, it was perfectly reasonable to go to the speaker and say , theres a you know, and say, theres a you know, theres a very serious issue affecting the safety of politicians. Politicians. So i dont think he should be going. Think polls going. I dont think polls should going i mean, should be going either. I mean, he perfectly good speaker, he was a perfectly good speaker, certainly improvement on his certainly an improvement on his two years. I mean, two predecessor years. I mean, my im longer an mp. I was my im no longer an mp. I was just this from the just looking at this from the outside and think the outside and i think the overriding impression which Michael Crick made this point, that this is a terrible war with people suffering on both sides , people suffering on both sides, hostages, um, and, you know, the British Parliament is squabbling over procedure, uh, parties are, you know, engaged in, in sort of petty positioning issues. I petty positioning issues. I mean, its made the parliament look, look very small and irrelevant, but, you know, demanding the resignation of starmer or hoyle over this. There seems to be completely missing the point. Uh, for what its worth, i dont think starmer should step down over this or hoyle. Although i think there should be accountable for their actions as well. Are you not concerned that Members Parliament have that members of parliament have been intimidated against voting or not voting for , for a vote in or not voting for, for a vote in the commons, for fear of physical attack, for fear of violence . Yeah , of course we should all yeah, of course we should all be concerned and its clear that hoyle himself made a mistake in buying the argument that they should change the procedure in order to avoid people being intimidated, and that that was a mistake. Hes apologised and should not do it again. Of course , we shouldnt give in to course, we shouldnt give in to threats of violence. Um, you know , i think your earlier know, i think your earlier discussion was right. You know, we need to put this in a context. I mean, i, i was an mp, i was a cabinet minister at the time of, you know, tuition fees. I had appalling mobs, you know , i had appalling mobs, you know, threatening you had to live with it. And and, um, you know, and i agree with phillip davis, you know , you should, you know, if, know, you should, you know, if, if you cant stand the heat, you shouldnt be in the kitchen. Uh, if people are actually personally threatened. And of personally threatened. And of course, the police should be involved , but but the, you know, involved, but but the, you know, the rough and tumble of public debate and demonstrate and angry debates , um, is part of what debates, um, is part of what democracy is about. Vince. Labour is divided on vince. Labour is divided on the issue of the war in gaza, though isnt it . Will this be a problem when starmer likely becomes our next pm . Uh, well, it it is because in many ways, our societys divided over this issue. Um the point i would always make to people, actually, is that weve got two wars going on. Theres one of them in the ukraine, which is actually much more important for us. Its a direct threat to us. The issue in the middle east is, is horrible. But but its not an issue that britain can influence. It doesnt directly affect us. And nobody is terribly interested in what we have to say about it. So i think we should just got to calm down about war in the middle about the war in the middle east. But but, you know, if there are groups in the uk who are um, aggressive and, and, are, um, aggressive and, and, you know, very motivated about it, then clearly its a problem for politics. Well, indeed. I mean, are you concerned about the rise of islamic extremism in the country that weve seen in the wake of the october the 7th attack . So youve got jewish people afraid to go into Central London at the weekend . Also, jewish people not weekend . Also, jewish people not going to the synagogue wearing any religious clothing for fear of attack. Do you think that radical islam poses a threat to britain and our democracy . Britain and our democracy . Uh, amongst other extremist groups . Groups . Its not the only one. I remember in the cabinet, we were very concerned about islamic extremism. Thats partly why the whole Prevention Initiative was taken. But its not the only Violent Group and threatening group. Theres the extreme right as well as the extreme left. I mean, comparable, though, is it servins . Is it servins . Um, not at the moment. Is it servins . Um, not at the moment. You um, not at the moment. You know, the extreme right talk. Know, the extreme right talk. And there are elements of, um, you know, islamic fundamentalism where it verges into terrorism, which of course is a threat and it needs to be dealt with on that basis. But lets not try and pretend that this is just one in a one faction. I mean, im old enough to remember , um, im old enough to remember, um, some of the horrible emotions that spill to the surface of a racism. I had a mixed marriage racism. I had a mixed marriage myself, so i saw it directly. Uh, and weve had this on the extreme now. Weve now got, um, you know, people who are aligned to or supportive of terrorist organised actions and theyve got to be dealt with if they are a threat to this country. But its not new and its not unique to this group. To this group. Vince cable, always a privilege to have you on the show. I look forward to catching up in the near future. My thanks to the former leader of the liberal democrats, vince cable. Coming does Shamima Begum coming up, does Shamima Begum deserve british citizen deserve to be a british citizen and menopause and is the menopause a disability . Well debate of disability . Well debate all of that. Next. Welcome back. Now Shamima Begum has lost a court of appeal decision to regain her uk citizenship tip. The ruling means that the 24 year old must remain in syria. The government stripped her citizenship on National Security grounds in 2019. Begum left london nine years ago, aged 15, to travel to syria to join the Islamic State terror group. The ruling, by three appeal judges was unanimous but could still be challenged the Supreme Court challenged in the Supreme Court by begum her lawyers. Lets by begum and her lawyers. Lets get reaction to this from the brilliant spectator columnist and broadcaster alexandra marshall. Alexandra, great to see from sydney, see you live from sydney, australia , where she was a child australia, where she was a child when she left the uk. Is she still our problem . Still our problem . Absolutely. She is not your problem. I was surprised to read this article and find that the uk did the right thing for a change. If you go and join an islamic foreign Islamic Terror Group and fight for another state, then of course you should lose citizenship and never lose your citizenship and never be granted again. And mean, be granted it again. And i mean, lets lets be honest, if isis had not lost the war, these kids would not be wanting to come home. They only want to come back to britain because they lost, not because theyre sorry for what they did. Its because theyre in the desert theyre sitting in the desert now. The wrong now. Australia did the wrong thing weve out of our way now. Australia did the wrong thibringveve out of our way now. Australia did the wrong thibring back out of our way now. Australia did the wrong thibring back as out of our way now. Australia did the wrong thibring back as many of our way now. Australia did the wrong thibring back as many isis ur way to bring back as many isis bndes to bring back as many isis brides as we can, and australians are furious. But labour ignored kept labourjust ignored us and kept going and now we have going anyway. And so now we have hundreds potential terrorists hundreds of potential terrorists brought and we call them brought home and we call them isis brides. But really we should call them female isis terrorists. Terrorists. Lets bring my friday friends in if we can. Alexandra Stephanie Takyi and Michael Crick stephanie, do you think that Shamima Begum should have british citizenship . I dont think she should have british citizenship , but at the end of citizenship, but at the end of the day, shes still british and no matter where she goes in this world, she will forever be unked world, she will forever be linked to britain. Linked to britain. So she will forever be our problem. Unfortunately for her, she was 15 when she decided to uproot. And so thats a very impressionable age. I dont think she should be let back in this country, but i do feel like she is our problem to deal with. Michael crick do you think the Supreme Court were right in their judgement today . Their judgement today . Was the lower court, it was the lower court, wasnt the Supreme Court . Wasnt it . The Supreme Court . Right. Yeah, youre quite right. Forgive me. Forgive me. But the i dont actually yes, but the i dont actually i think well im not a lawyer so im grounds couldnt im on legal grounds i couldnt make but i think that make the case, but i think that she is ultimately britains responsibility. She should be given citizenship. She given british citizenship. She was time. She was was 15 at the time. She was essentially you know, was 15 at the time. She was essethe lly you know, was 15 at the time. She was essethe girls you know, was 15 at the time. She was essethe girls rochdale know, was 15 at the time. She was essethe girls rochdale and v, like the girls in rochdale and oldham and. But for different purposes and, you know, otherwise, she ends up basically saying, well, shes not your problem anymore. Shes someone elses problem. Uh, weve youve elses problem. Uh, weve youve got to look after the people who started out as british citizens, unless they voluntarily changed to a different citizenship. To a different citizenship. Now, alexandra, youre far too young for this other story , too young for this other story, but the equality and Human Rights Commission have said the menopause should be considered a disability , with bosses facing disability, with bosses facing legal action if they dont make reasonable adjustments. They say failure to look after employees who suffer from hot flushes, brain fog or low energy amounts to disability discrimination. To disability discrimination. Under the equality act 2010. What do you think . Is the what do you think . Is the menopause a disability . Menopause a disability . Sorry , mark, are you saying sorry, mark, are you saying that the Health Authorities suddenly understand the difference between men and women and theyve classified women as and theyve classified women as a biological. Gender because last time i checked, they couldnt tell. But in answer to your actual question , i feel as your actual question, i feel as if as if women are if i feel as if women are playing life as a video game on a harder setting than everybody else. Because were else. Because when were young, we very, ill in the we get very, very ill in the office theres no office and theres no accommodation that. Ive had accommodation for that. Ive had to work with women who are to work with many women who are sitting shaking, fainting, sitting there shaking, fainting, throwing up, and theyve got they get medical they have to get medical certificates to leave. For what . For a woman. So they have for being a woman. So they have that, then get pregnant and that, then they get pregnant and theyre ill in pregnancy. Theyre when they leave. And theyre ill when they leave. And then older, then when they get older, theyve disability. Theyve now got a disability. Apparently according to this health i think the health advice, i think the answer is instead of classifying womanhood disability to womanhood as a disability to just a bit flexibility just put a bit more flexibility between employees between employers and employees to handle this. Otherwise, whos going to employ women . All of this hurts us in the long run. Okay stephanie, briefly, do you think menopause is a disability . Of its a long way off of course its a long way off for you, but whats your view . It is not a disability. No, it is not a disability. Its a natural process for women. I just hate they women. And i just hate when they come these things come out with these things because very patronising. Because its very patronising. Women been going through women have been going through menopause since the ages menopause since the stone ages and people, and weve met, well, people, women for it have women who are going for it have managed to handle it. Well. Yes. Lets talk about it. But lets not like they not make women feel like they cannot such things. Not make women feel like they canmichael, such things. Not make women feel like they canmichael, would things. Not make women feel like they can michael, would yomgs. Not make women feel like they canmichael, would you like michael, would you like provision for male menopause provision for the male menopause when kicks in . When that kicks in . Blimey , i dont know anything blimey, i dont know anything about the male menopause. I dont seem to have experienced it anyway. The on the it anyway. But on the on the main i do think that main point, i do think that perhaps disability perhaps calling it a disability is too far, but i do think is going too far, but i do think employers need to have more understand thing, more willingness to accept that this is bound to happen at and. But using the word disability is over the top. Over the top. Alexandra marshall always a thrill to have you on. You can find alex on twitter and its at lml. D0 find alex on twitter and its at lml. Do check it out. Brilliant lml. Do check it out. Brilliant columns in the spectator. Plus shes on tv as well. Next up , shes on tv as well. Next up, the brilliant Patrick Christys. What you would expect from Suella Braverman who has a history of just deliberately saying inflammatory things for the sake of headlines. So i dont think we should take seriously her comments. Does labour really care about islamist extremism . Talking of extremism, he has no proof that im a threat other than that i was in isis. Im a threat other than that i was in isis.
