that sright, mike, initially she accidentally sat on the child but police doubt that story. they say they has confessed to smothering her daughter. and grandma also did not believe that. let s listen to a heartbroken grandmother after this tragedy. my son, he loved his daughter with all that he has and the fact that she would kid my granddaughter, i don t understand. she s 2 years old. she s very she s small. the couch is small. you cannot, in a million years, tell me that you did not feel this baby underneath these cushions and you smothered my granddaughter, you took her life for nothing. that s heartbreaking to hear that. so, henry, grandmother obviously didn t believe. then tiffany lopez confessed, right, not long after that? hat s that s right. police are saying after interrogation that i believe was about 12 hours long, she did confess. now, keep in mind, mike, the suspect s mother believes that her own daughter, the suspect, has some kind of chemical imbalance. whether that will come into play as part of the defense will be interesting to see. okay. where s dad in all this, henry? dad has an estranged relationship with the girlfriend. he is the father of the suspect s unborn child. keep in mind, mike, this suspect is three months pregnant, also has a 7-month-old baby. so, the father is has a little difficulty with the suspect but he is also in shock. let s listen to the father, again, another broken heart here. let s listen. her own mama, to know her own mommy took her life you know what i m saying it ain t killing me, it s making me die deep inside, man. that lady, she took what was so more precious than me than anything in this world that she took my daughter from me. and the only thing that i can do is lay my baby to rest. henry, whatbout red flags along the way, what happened christmas eve? christmas eve according to san mateo police, the suspect got into an argument with her own 11-year-old brother, allegedly endangering that brother and her then 4-month-old child. so she was supposed to appear in court this april after being charged with child endangerment and resisted arrest on christmas eve, what the police are saying, now has a much more serious charge. ryan, let s hit on that real quick. we see the tragedy unfd with this issue, christmas eve. should authorities have done more after that to get her away fromhe kids? what are you seeing here? you know, i do see that. you know, a lot of it depends on the circumstances, maybe nothing happened in between that time but i m troubled by the calls that the grandmother says she s making to police to other people to say that there are problems here. if those calls happen between the child endangerment charges and these charges, absolutely there should have been a heightened level of attention here and authoties should have thought about taking these kids out of the house. but this happens a lot. what happens, there s a charge, nothing happens and then there s no followup. my thought is, if there was something that happened between, calls made to authorities to talk about this, those children should had been out of that house. she says her daughter was on lithium to stabilize mood swin. michelle golland, what do you make othat? mostly individuals taking lithium would have a diagnosis of bipolar disorder who swings between mania, as well as depression. but, i agree with the attorney that this is a situation that there should have been heightened alert looking at this this mother and her young vulnerable, extremely vulnerable children. it s a tragedy that didn t have to happen. henry, any further explanation to the christmas eve event as to what happened and was the little at the time, 4-month old, was the 4 month-old injured at all? the 4-month-old according to the suspect s mother was telling me today that this 4 month-old was not directly involved but more a case of sibling rivalry and why the 4 month-old was not removed is removed from the home by child protective services. ar be it for me but i find it hard an 11-year-old would have a sibling rivalry with a 4-month-old but again we ll try to find more details on that. michelle, ryan, guys, thanks so much. right now there s so much mystery surrounding death of actor corey haim. he died after collapsing in an apartment. haim s best friend, corey feldman saying people should stop jumping to conclusions right now. they need to stop saying, it s a drug overdose. they need to stop saying you know their theories of what they think it is or isn t because at the end of the day until the coroner s report comes out, until we have specific evidence, until we know exactly what the toxicology reports say, nobody knows and nobody s going to know. right now, feldman also had some tough words for those in hollywood and we re learning more about what was found inside corey haim s home. you re watching prime news hln. a longtime friend of actor corey haim s calling out hollywood. basically saying, stop with the taunts. corey feldman stepping up to defend his friend, his friend, former co-star, the actor who suddenly collapsed and died in his burbank, california home yesterday hours after learning of his friend s death, corey feldman went on our sister network, larry king, and he flat-out said it is time for hollywood to just basically lay off. why is it okay to kick somebody when they re down? i don t think it is. and i don t think it should be tolerated anymore. i don t think it should be accepted anymore within our society, within the entertainment industry, within the world as a whole. he s very eloquent on that point. we ll talk to jane about that. jane velez-mitchell with me by the way host of issues coming up about 12 minutes from now. anything new on the investigation as to what may have caused corey haim s death. we ll have tmv on issues in just a little while and they ve got sort of a blockbuster new report, that the prescription pills that cops say they found in the house at the time of his death were for vicodin, valium, a muscle relaxer an an antipsychotic drug, now hln has no confirmation of that but if that is true it raises a slew of questions. number one about, three weeks ago corey was caught on camera and asked him are you sober, yeah, good for a while and implying he s sober. so if he s taking all those, that s certainly questions, the sobriety. but beyond that, you have to wonder if the psychiatrist because tmz says a prominent l.a. psychiatrist prescribed all those medicine, very, very cent. if the psychiatrist is a different person from the addiction specialist that corey that corey haim s agent told us last night on issues was working with corey haim. so if it s two different people, did each of them know what the other was prescribing? because that s often where you have the drug cocktail come up that can be an o.d., and i want to stress, we will not know what happened to corey haim until we get the toxicology reports back in four to five weeks but it is certainly quite disturbing. it is and again, we ve not been able to confirm what s in his system and we won t know for a while. jane, the addictionologist, i believe the term that he was using. what kind of drug would give corey haim to help him with his addiction? that s a very good question, mike, and there are a lot of people who are debating this right now, but we had two addiction specialists who one of whom runs a big treatment center in l.a. on last night and his definition of sobriety is my definition of sobriety, and that is, no mood of altering substances. now sometimes wn you re detoxing somebody in a hospital when they re coming off a very, very severe drug binge, you can kind of detox off drugs. but that s really slowly for a couple of days or a couple of weeks, not a year-and-a-half. the agent told us when i signed on a year-and-a-half ago, i told him he had to stay clean and sober, but when i started questioning him, he said, well, he was only sober two weeks and then he said maybe he had a bad reaction to medications he was being given bythe addiction specialist, which would mean that he uld be on meds at the time of his death. so it s really what i believe, and this is just my speculation, that perhaps he was trying to manage his addiction as opposed to really going clean and sober, which is not doing any drugs at all. all right. last one. big difference. we ve got about 20 seconds, jane. corey feldman laid it out there that hollywood has got to layoff. it can be brutal for a child star, the former child star, who has risen and fallen again, right?
