Plenty. away I have to be honest with you I had no idea no idea who you were so just going to get that right help there. You. That's a little well let's get right oh you're so welcome. You're so welcome thanks for calling us let's get right to the point you have cerebral palsy and you talk a lot about. Your disability in your acts and tell me just a little bit about how old you were when you were diagnosed and a little bit of what that was like for you as a child or you have a good thing to talk about early in the interview otherwise you live. The whole life and just. Part of who I am and. Talk about from the perspective of a disabled person. Joke of a finger but this is my viewpoint that's really amazing your big break into the comedy scene happened when you won N.B.C.'s Last Comic Standing What year was that and the long had you worked in your comedy journey to get there you know. A woman who's sick and been doing comedy for about 15 years 15 years so what inspired you to be funny. Very real inspiration just. All of me. And we should stop. You're just too funny for your own good. Most recently you appeared on The Tonight Show with Jimmy Fallon and you were the 1st comedian to perform stand up on the Ellen degenerates show when you 1st started telling your stories and jokes and all of this started happening happening did you dream of all of this happening to you oh yeah I. Have been a big dreamer. Do the Late Show with huge Tony Harry. And then. Some huge fan of. An amazing experience the fact that she picked me to be the 1st and upon her show the 1st oh just how wonderful and congratulations for all of that how did you feel about the odds of making it as a person living with c.p. . You know I mean that anyone feeling in the end of the. When you're so probably in the mix and therefore you. Are more. Just amazing this far and then you continue you have a do over $200.00 showing the year of traveling all over the world and on the story that is a lot of travelling How do you deal with fatigue you know. So much that it's just what I do you know at this point it. Is part of my life. Trainable recreate days or so oh my goodness just like that's amazing Well you're also known for your impeccable comedic timing and breaking down stereotypes of people living with disabilities what stereotypes of disabled single fathers would you like to abolish or make disappear because you're a single father too yeah you're missing said. You know I think the bar is 'd for every disabled person when you lose anything it takes only. Do. You know if they really needed trains or perception of what disability years unfortunately. I mean when you hear disability you crumple. I'm in the same category as a blind person or a deaf person or. Mentally disabled on. The like very power in the people for who they are and what they're capable of. They have a long way to go. Absolutely I couldn't agree more with you it's more about what's inside of the body that you've been given and it's not a disability it's a strength and just a difference right exactly. And so feel very fortunate to have put this brain. Well you made the rage Oh I love that well on some of that conversation about differences in your 3rd one hour special called the delete available on Hulu and Amazon you explain why people should not call someone living with a disability inspirational tell me why. Condescending I mean . You're like oh you're so inspirational. If you only kill myself. You know about Malaysia. By words I'm very direct with it and. I feel like people go learn the more they try to get punched in the face right so you're speaking to the real struggle that exists and from the outside an inspirational person is going through something really hard and it takes a lot of dedication and passion and work here and tons of work. If you do over 200 a year I'm really growing and you are always grinding out speaking of grinding it out you were also a member of the u.s. Paralympic soccer team that competed in Athens Yeah I know 4 in 04. Yeah it is amazing another amazing ride that are going on I'm no longer just old. Own team for 8 years in trouble all over the world the trip the country. Beautiful that's the thing that's very rare I mean that's just really amazing Yeah and I'm still so lucky. Very crazy to get to say that I have. And then a comedian at the same time yeah so you've been beautifying the struggle your whole life you know what beautifying the struggle feels like yeah definitely. Leave it yes it is isn't it because it's all about choice an attitude to give a voice to a group of people really using heard and. Yes giving a voice to people who need to be heard just how has being funny positively affected your physical and emotional health well just going to say laughter is the birth mother but shouldn't it be better but. Well you know. To me it's like you can go through your life war with me and be sad about your. Condition or whatever cards you're dealt until you die or you can just have. Far left you so much better so much better and laughter needs to continue to be the best medicine for all of us doesn't it yeah. They needed their us. Bring it to people because everybody just. There's so much negative. Stuff in our world and you were. So much for me ill. So many great. To me. From both. The.
