You know it's read i Radio very much and every girl you talk about everything from politics to social issues and news of the day whether you're a boy or just starting your day. From ball pilot flying j. Studios this is rude i Radio all across America 86690. Good morning welcome He's our time Gary. All right game 7 of the game 7 of the World Series nobody seems to care. Now. The 1st 5 games of the World Series between Houston and Washington produced 3 of the 10 least watched games in World Series history with the other 2 games barely missing that least watch status all in all this is before last night's game and I don't have the numbers from last night's game yet all in all this World Series has averaged 11600000 viewers through 5 games so what's well on pace to beat the Giants 4 game sweep of the Detroit Tigers in 2012 which traverse 12640000 viewers for the Leafs least watched World Series ever. In fact of the Astros are able to close out the series last night last night's game would have had to average $17900000.00 viewers in order to avoid the least watched status so it will be interesting to. See. I really wonder. And again I know the bright part always does the number of people that are missing n.f.l. Games they are every week they've been doing that for 3 years now right since the whole capping thing and I've even accused him at times saying Ok that's Fotos unfair it's 15 minutes before game time when I can't you can't make that analogy if it's in the middle of 1st quarter and you take in and you take the picture and you got a ton of empty seats you can make you can make that point and they've been doing more of that there are stadiums that are and teams that are hurting you know for example they always put the Dolphins on there but the Dolphins have had that consistent problem for years right and there are other you know teams where the fans are not where the fans are not at baseball one of the things that they talk. So I don't know what how long last night's game was but the men talking about that the majority the games have been over 4 hours remember the whole thing remember when baseball is trying to get down to 33 hours and 20 minutes or yes or 3 hours and 10 minutes or last it's like it's too long well in the season goes on. Forever I mean look at how many games are in a season compared to the n.f.l. Right and so there's much more of a sense of urgency in the n.f.l. I mean you lose a game you know I go oh man right in the rest of the sports there are so many you don't I find myself doing now I love watching hockey. You know what I find myself doing more of lately. Because they do such a great job of it is I like the highlights right because now they're you know it's like 78 minutes long I'm like Ok I can sit through that but it's all the highlights of the game all right and so it's almost And so they do such a great job at it and I have I can't tell you how many games I've watched the highlights on you know my note 9 which the screen is so great where the detail is so perfect words like who I really wish to sit through an entire unless I'm home on a Friday night or Saturday night in which to watch you know wish to watch hockey and it's you know we've had a the last week and actually did that it was a little cold outside so you know made a fire and turn on the hockey game sure and watched it but I have to tell you so much of the time now even the n.f.l. Last week I never you know I got busy doing things around the house and never watch my bills game and I don't have a lot of confidence in when they were 5 and one anyway I if I've been saying they don't have a quarterback and they played you know them played great teams and I get criticized by Bills fans but it's like look I've watched football a long time I know if a team is good or not depending on the competition and sure I know if a quarterback is good or not I've watched football long enough and they have a quarterback who's never had a great game so it's like Andrew I really want to invest are they going anywhere they may make the 1st run of the playoffs and they're done well the engine span I think of spectators for for everything really it's not just sports has really do it all down if you look at right now they're testing on the net looks at the ability to binge watch faster. In other words you can speed it up a little bit and the of course the creators the directors. Whatever it might be I mean collectively they're coming together and saying no we don't want that ability we don't want viewers to skim through these shows but it doesn't matter what they want it's what the consumer wants the the people watching it so you look at the highlights of sports versus people you know sitting down and spending hours watching one game. I love my football team of a following since the 64 and 65 championship but when you don't have a quarterback I'm amazed how if you're a team that doesn't score even if it's my team you know if you win I'll d.v.r. It if you want to watch it back later right and maybe watch the highlights but you know they have a boring often so I it and again 20 years ago I might watch it like now it's like I got too much else to do and or really want to invest 2nd kind of time in that uneven that my hockey team that I like is playing great and passing great and there's a lot of action and it's fast moving and I like that and so I really wonder when it comes my I guess my whole point is that the the the teams the n.f.l. Is still a quarterback league and if you want proof of that New England she's going to be great to watch the way we would. Every week Brady so when 3 or 4 touchdown passes in getting over 300 yards that's enjoyable to watch you. Well but my team is foreign to and are scoring an average of whatever I'm not talking about my team and just an average team out there and they're scoring. Maybe 2 touchdowns a game and we have an average every quarterback who doesn't complete a lot of passes and really can't pass for more than 200 yards maybe occasionally that's boring so I look at baseball weather standing Iran as 162 games and then you get to the playoffs if you're in those 2 cities it's exciting if you're a baseball fan it's exciting because baseball playoff baseball can be great but when you look and one thing that we have to realize is when you talk about the numbers remember the population of this country is now roughly 330000000 people it keeps getting bigger so the share is a lot smaller of what baseball is pulling in when you look at even the numbers the numbers show that as the country continues to grow we're not increasing the number of people that really are interested in baseball and I look at it and I think to myself Ok maybe in some of the huge big cities you can find another people to fill the stadiums you know you look at like in New York New York some baseball town Farson is a base for town even if you know if you look at the Dodgers and the excitement they they they create there but it was a lot of places that you know you get to game 70 and you're out of the the playoffs who's going to waste there who's going to waste their money on that because people think that way now people aren't you you look at the cost of sports over all and even though at my age in my situation now where I could much more afford to go to sporting events. I go to fewer sporting events and I've ever gone to in my life because I see the price and it doesn't matter you and I have talked about this before we could be billionaires and still we would look at spending $100.00 and say am I getting what is I'm paying $100.00 right I still know whether I have a $1000000000.00 or not I still know the value and this is for the God uses of being billionaires remember that a few months ago even if I was a billionaire I'd look at a 100 bucks and say am I still getting my money's worth Fort it's about the value not right off and and most right and most sporting events I'm not getting a return on my investment for what I'm spending for that's And I think I just wonder and I think it's increasing more and more every day and if television for the most part I mean a lot of these games not even on baseball do the playoffs ahead of cable to get it and if you're caught off you're not going to watch it anyway and that's the other thing too I wonder how much that's affecting it as people cut the cord now well that's what e.s.p.n. Is going through and and you have a ton of these games that are on t.b.s. And the networks the free t.v. Is not carrying the majority of the playoffs and baseball you're not going to have as much interest no no you're not. You know again you point out the the markets I don't know what I really don't know I mean the if you look at Houston. Certainly have a great following for their team I don't know about d.c. In the d.c. Area I guess that region I don't know what the loyalty is for that team but you know they're there and certainly their fans locally are going to you know to an end but where is that when you talk about the value you know like going to a game paying for something beyond that it's also paying in your time. Is it worth spending my time sitting in front of a t.v. If neither team is from my town that's not my team. Right it might be exciting baseball but I'm not going to spend 4 hours sitting in front of a t.v. . And leisure from then that town Well we talked about there's only as we said there's only really one true baseball fan in d.c. . George Will. Right you are just kidding we know. By the way what was the highest rated game so far. The one Trump was at now the site again and as yes that question was there was her interest in people tuning in to see what their reaction would be to trump and that's why we suggested like Major League Baseball have Trump. Put him in the body armor that he was talking about. Have secret service all around him put him in a pope dome. And heavens are all the 1st pitch you want ratings that would get them yeah I mean it is that really I think we're kind of done with that kind of again time investment as a society for just about any given form of entertainment today it's on demand isn't it I mean when I have the time it's yes because it used to be that. You would you know you would while you had to be in front of the t.v. If your t.v. Show was on you had to you had to watch it then here comes the v.c.r. Right we could record it and then the d.v.r. But even the d.v.r. I'd love to see what the activity is and the behavior is with people on d.v.r. Is right now. Because if you do that of course you're storing it so you can watch it on your time but on demand stuff the Netflix Hulu You Tube whatever it is that's where it really you know gets down to people just deciding when they're going to watch t.v. Or watch anything Oh and I think sports right now is hurting as a result of that in part but if you look at the n.f.l. Going more digital if you look at that it's likely they'll all have a greater digital footprint going forward they have to if they're going to survive forget about digital footprint carbon footprint We'll get to that coming up next in 6698 right I coming off more with Gary Mike tomorrow and every quarterly it's what i Radio. And movie services which they are calling a waste of resources at all levels a waste of resources Researchers estimate that watching a half hour show. Via an on demand video app a mits 1.6 kilograms of carbon dioxide into the environment the equivalent of driving for miles. All right the study reports that while 34 percent of traffic goes to streaming services such as Netflix Amazon Prime and Hulu the 2nd leading source comes from internet porn Ok so here's here's the here's the fix then carbon tax Yeah.
