Here. Im Julian Glover and im ahmad daetz. Our interview with the da comes as shes facing a recall effort from critics who accuse her of being soft on crime. Abc7 News Reporter antar hassan met with price to discuss her first nine months in office and the work shes done. So far. Hes joining us live now. Answer julian omar. Good evening. As you mentioned, da price has only been in office for about nine months. She says to those who say shes been soft on crime, too, she points to the 8000 cases that have already been charged. As for the recall, she tells me shes being targeted. How would you sort of describe the experience thus far . Its an adventure. Its a great adventure. We came into a situation that was highly unstable and ill prepared for the change that was about to come. What has followed Alameda County District Attorney pamela price just nine months into the job, has been criticized and backlash for being soft on crime and now a recall effort. But to her critics, she reminds them that she was elected on a campaign of criminal justice reform. If you go today to Alameda County juvenile hall, you will only find black and brown children there. And theres a lot of reasons for that. But one of the challenges is that i have taken on and that i believe i was elected to take on as District Attorney is to eradicate the racial disparities. Da price says shes been reviewing county charging practices such as doing away with enhancements, which she says. Alameda county voters want as well enhance. Agents have been shown to be racially biased and applied in a racially biased way, and enhancements as nationally as people have looked at enhancements, they do not find that the longer sentence actually deters crime. Da price says she wants to make it clear that reducing enhancements or special circumstances, such as in the case of jasper wu doesnt mean crimes are going unpunished. Jasper woox is the child who was killed by stray bullets on i80. The wu family has raised concerns about da prices sentencing when the media said she dropped the special circumstances that that part was true. But what they did not say was that we never dropped the gun or the gang enhancements. The two men charged with murder in the case each faced more than 150 years behind bars. But concerns about sentencing have led to a recall effort. We know that the people who lost the election didnt want us to be here. We challenged and defeated the status quo. And so, yes, im very much a target. Da price says theyre currently reviewing 2500 cases that are eligible for re sentencing under the New California Racial Justice act. And she says they will continue to press ahead. Im just proud of the job that we walked in here with. No support, no transition plan, no soft landing. And yet weve managed to thrive. And a price will continue to participate in Community Meetings as a town hall tomorrow in fremont at niles discovery church. Thats starts at 6 30 p. M. Back to you in answer, we know da price recently hired 100 new staff members. Can you tell us more about what those folks will be doing in yeah. Da price says, you know, part of what shes doing adding 100 new jobs in such a short amount of time is also a sign of her commitment at some of the things that they will be doing is to expand the felony trial team. Also to increase prosecutorial support for the Oakland Police department and also assigning a seasoned deputy to advise them. So some of the things that she will continue to work on reporting live on san hassan, abc seven news. Well continue to watch it. Thank you. Answer. The familiar fall time buzz surrounded the apple campus in cupertino for the debut of the all new apple watch series nine and iphone 15. The first apple product considered carbon neutral. And now you can control your apple watch almost hands free by just tapping your index finger and thumb. You can answer phone calls. Scroll through your dock and more. It uses a Machine Learning algorithm to detect the unique signature of tiny movements and changes in blood flow. When your hand and fingers perform a double tap. It has a lot of potential. Even more potential. I think that theyre even hinting at from an iphone standpoint, i think they really did a nice job of adding functionality. The iphone 15 and 15 pro offers new features like a new Action Button on the pro that you could set shortcuts to control your phone as well as the ability to request roadside assistance through triple a. Even without a signal, youll never see Steven Spielberg or someone like that make a movie about someone stranded on a Desert Island because it will just never happen again. Because the new iphones have really eliminated that possibility. Of all the new features that were most excited about, especially while shooting on an iphone comes behind with the all new camera on the iphone 15 pro, the 48 mega pixel lens offers the equivalent of seven camera lenses in one with five x zoom the longest optical zoom yet at 120mm. If youre at that taylor swift concert, you want to get as close as you can. And five x zoom is like getting 1,000 more expensive seat. I mean, there wasnt really anything that i think that it would stop the world. But from an iterative change standpoint, i think theyre doing a lot of interesting, practical things. The one negative some consider is the new charging ports. All usbc apple is moving away from the previous lightning cables to streamline devices.
