They were quite simply assassinated. Shocking murders. Two officers shot and killed sitting in their patrol car in new york. Good evening. Police say officers wenjin liu and Raphael Ramos were ambushed and murdered and never had an opportunity to draw their weapons. Weve learned the gunman had made online posts that were very antipolice. Michelle franzen has the latest. Reporter a brazen deadly attack in new york city leaving the Police Commissioner and mayor shaken. Reporter police say the shooter, 28yearold ismail walked up to the police car and fired his weapon several times through the front passenger window, striking the officers in the head several times. Police say he then ran to a nearby subway station where he shot himself in the head. Earlier on saturday in baltimore a female believed to be his former girlfriend was shot and seriously wounded at her residence. He posted on social media. Which were antipolice. Those postings alerted baltimore police, but their warning about his intention to harm Police Officers arrived in new york city at the same time the two officers were gunned down. Their killings incited outrage. To turn around and be executed on the streets. At the end of the day two families are missing somebody for the holidays and its wrong. Including the San Francisco Police Department are wearing black bands on their badges to mourn the officers killed today. Berkeley police are investigating a suspicious death of a 20yearold man. He was found outside of his home near the cal campus this morning. Officers were called to the to Piedmont Avenue and dwight way around 4 00 a. M. Hes identified as apoorve agarwal. Hes believed to be a student at uc berkeley. He may have been drinking. An autopsy will be held to determine how he died. The second death near campus in a month. Another 20yearold man was found dead after a large party in november. He was an Aerospace Engineering student at uc davis. He was celebrating his birthday and visiting friends in berkeley. Police didnt get a call about an unresponsive man lying on the floor of the frat house until noon the following day. In napa tonight, outrage over a letter and questionnaire sent to tenants at a self storage facility. As we first reported last month, the tenants have not been allowed in their units because of earthquake damage. What many are calling a slap in the face now. We have a live report at the storage site with more. Reporter tenants got these in the mail today ask canning them to help them foot the bill to get access to a damaged bill that is red tagged. Tenants found out it is possible to go in but it will cost them. I consider this to be extortion. And it is like ransom for our stuff. Reporter tempers flared at this meeting in napa tonight as tenants of napa self storage sounded off about this letter from management. They were told to get stored property ou of building tenants will have to foot the bill. Shocked they will make us pay for this. But it isnt cheap. It amounts to 12 times the persons monthly rent. Does everyone agree our goal is to get our stuff out . Building 900 was with red tagged after the earthquake in august. They have no idea what condition their possessions are in since they havent had access. Owners insist it needs to be demolished but a specialized crew can help them recover what they can safely. At a Mobile Home Park in redwood city, flooding evacuees are back home. Reminders of the damage are around them. Sandbags and water pump line the road. This is a result of last week and this weeks storm. Theres a lot of standing water that needs to be pumped out. Sandbags are there to prevent flooding in the next storm. Many of the people who live there are wearing new clothing tonight. Volunteers stopped by to drop off clothing donations. They saw the news report about the flooding at the Mobile Home Park and wanted to help replace some of the items people lost. A large tree fell on a lexus in gonld gate park this afternoon. These gifts are the only ones these children will receive for the holidays. 10,000 toys were given out and they are still accepting donations. You can drop one off just make sure it is new and unwrapped. A program is short of toys for teens this year. They have signed up 3200 families in need. They will distribute 17,000 toys next week with. The Program Still needs more than 4 thourk toys. If you would like to help, drop off a toy at sacred heart at 1381 south first street in san jose.
