It doesnt make any sense. It doesnt make any sense at all. An east bay family struggles to understand why someone opened fire on a freeway killing their loved one. Good evening and thanks for joining us. Im matt keller. A hero, the description used by the family of a man who died after a freeway shooting. Demarcus stopped after being shot three times. His family spoke with abc 7 News Reporter Melanie Woodrow about what they say is his final heroic effort. You can imagine the fall lets grieving. They call demarcus death senseless. Theyre speaking because they want people to know he was a hero. 24yearold Demarcus Daws was the baby brother, youngest of six in his family. Demarcus was my best friend. I lost my best friend. I really lost my best friend. Reporter thursday, someone shote drove on eastbound interstate 80 in richmond. It doesnt make any sense. It doesnt make any sense at all. I dont think nobody has slept yet, been up since thursday. Any time i close my eyes i see him. Reporter demarcus sisters say even though he was the baby, he was their protector, a role he played thursday as well for his passenger and close friend. Thats the last thing he did. He covered her and took all the bullets for her. And he would have lived. Just that one to the head killed him. Reporter Law Enforcement officials said the shooting wasnt random but demarcus family said no one would want to hurt him. College student, good kid. All he did was work out, play with the family. Reporter Richmond Police located a vehicle matching witness descriptions and took three into custody, one 24yearold and two 17yearolds. We want to see justice for sure. We want them to get the max. The max. Senseless. Everybody just killing each other for no type of reason at all. Reporter the family has set up a go fund me page to help with funeral expenses. Oakland police help witnesses will help identify suspects for two men gunned down in east oakland, dashwood avenue. Another man shot inside a car near 60th street on Martin Luther king jr. Former president obamas arrival was unlike what weve seen the last eight years on a much lower profile. This is the first visit to the Silicon Valley since he left the white house. He didnt come out to answer any questions. We just saw his motorcade drive out of the airport. This weekend is also one of his first public sightings since current President Donald Trump lodged still uncorroborated claims that Obamas Administration ordered wiretaps of trump tower during the election. The sitting president has refused to answer questions about his charge. But the House Intelligence Committee has asked the u. S. Justice department to hand over any evidence of this claim by tomorrow. The democratic Ranking Member of that committee is skeptical. I dont expect were going to see any evidence of this. A secret Service Officer stopped Jonathan Tran yards from a white house entrance. Tran told the officer he was a friend of the president and had an invitation. They say they found two cans of mace on him. Trans been charged with entering restricted grounds while carrying a dangerous weapon, faces up to ten years of prison if convicted. His brother says tran was troubled after being laid off from his engineering job and was living in his car. A missing woman found in woodside after nearly two days is now out of the hospital.
