The president looking pretty energetic as he came down the stairs of air force one, even taking time to walk over, meet some democratic donors on the flight line, even hold a baby and said a few kind words to folks who came out to greet him. The president in town for a couple of fundraisers, democratic fundraisers, where tickets cost from 500 to 32,000. Police are warning drivers to avoid the area where he will be in just about 10 to 15 minutes, the w hotel. That is an area thats seen a lot of traffic gridlock over the last couple weeks. Theres a Convention Going on at howard and third. That area is shut down so even before the president arrived today, the traffic was pretty bad. San Francisco Police warning anybody who is coming to the downtown area tonight to take Public Transportation if they can and perhaps you will get a glimpse of the president. You will no longer see offduty San Jose Police officers moonlighting at levis stadium. This afternoon their department temporarily banned them from doing any Security Work for the 49ers and their players, this following an abc 7 news report from last week that a sergeant who worked security for the team received a personal call from niners defensive tackle ray mcdonald right around the same time as a 911 call was placed from mcdonalds home. That officer responded to mcdonalds house even though he wasnt assigned to that case. Other officers then arrested mcdonald for Domestic Violence on his fiancee. Prosecutors have not filed formal charges against mcdonald and the presence of that sergeant has complicated the investigation. Cal fire has given its fleet of 22 air tankers the green light to go back to work. The agency grounded the aircraft after one crashed in Yosemite National park tuesday. The pilot, craig hunt from san jose, died in the crash. Cal fire officials lifted the flight ban once federal investigators determined the crash was not related to mechanical problems that could impact other aircraft. Today, the body of a pilot, craig hunt, arrived in san jose from the Coroners Office in modesto. A small Family Service was held at a funeral home and thats where abc 7 News Reporter vic lee is live with us right now. Reporter this is where craig hunts body was brought late this morning for that brief Family Service. It was then taken to a crematorium in fremont. After he is cremated, his remains will be brought back here again to this funeral home and ultimately at some point, will be flown to indiana to a cemetery near his grandfathers farm. That is where he was born. But today, it was a sad day, a day of honor, respect and goodbye. The procession started at the Coroners Office in modesto. The hearse carrying the body of craig hunt along with a fire engine. When it arrived in san jose, a Motorcycle Unit escorted the convoy to the funeral home. Across the street, san jose firefighters raised the American Flag from aerial ladder trucks, a sign of respect for a fallen brother. This is just one more reminder of the ultimate sacrifice some of the firefighters have to pay and really, the risk that comes with doing the profession we chose to do. Reporter the brief service at the funeral home was private, only family members of the 62yearold air tanker pilot. Daughter sarah lauderback. My father was a true hero. Its a very very sad day. Reporter hunt was flying an air tanker on tuesday while battling a wildfire near yosemite. The plane hit the side of the valleys granite wall and burst into flames, engulfing the ridge in fire and smoke. Cal fire captain Richard Cordova recounted just how dangerous piloting an air tanker can be. Some of the maneuvers they do, they are truly amazing heroes to our department. Reporter search teams recovered and brought hunts body back over steep, rocky terrain wednesday morning. A ceremony was held in the field before his remains draped in an American Flag were transported to modesto. A cal fire honor guard brought the casket inside the funeral home for the short service. Hunt was a navy pilot who battled wildfires after he left the service. He was a chemistry teacher during the offseason but his first love was flying. The adrenaline is what had him going. He loved his job so much. I know he loved what he did and he died doing what he loved. Reporter hunt would have been a grandpa in january. Sarah is expecting a baby girl, who in her words, will have a best friend in heaven for the rest of her life. Vic lee, abc 7 news. San Francisco Police say they received four 911 calls in the hours leading up to a shooting that left a woman in Critical Condition and her exboyfriend dead. Police say officers responded to three domestic disturbance calls at the apartment overnight, even arresting the suspect at one point for public intoxication. After his release, police got another call when the suspect returned to the apartment demanding his things. The victim agreed and actually helped pack some of his personal effects and the Police Officer stayed at the scene to make sure the transaction was peaceful. Unfortunately, we got another call at 5 00 and thats when the shooting had occurred. Police are still trying to figure out where the suspect got a gun. The peninsula serial flasher may have struck again this morning. Belmont Police Say Two women were inside this coffee shop when they spotted a man inside a white bmw who appeared to be fondling himself. He was visible through the coffee shop windows. Take a look at the sketch released by police within the hour of a man who exposed himself yesterday in palo alto. Police say it matches the description of belmonts flasher from this morning and this is the sketch of possibly another man or perhaps the same person who exposed himself to two girls monday and wednesday in palo alto. Bicyclists riding through Golden Gate Park are being warned about a series of attacks by robbers. At least three cyclists have been targeted recently. The last two happened early on friday and late on sunday. Early last friday, excuse me. In both incidents, the bicyclists were knocked off their bikes by a group of men. The robbers threatened the victims with knives, then took off with the bicycles. That kind of shocks me there was an attack because i have never seen anything like that out here. I feel absolutely safe. I guess this happened at like one in the morning or something. Im really not riding my bike that late at night. Police say the same group of men may be responsible for all three attacks. The Bicycle Coalition has asked police to increase patrols in the area during nighttime hours. A popular restaurant in San Franciscos lower haigt neighborhood will close its doors monday after losing its battles with a notorious landlord. It has been in operation for 23 years. The landlord is terminating the Restaurant Owners monthtomonth lease after they refused to remodel and upgrade at their own expense. The landlord is robert shelton, the same person abc 7 news exposed for illegally trying to require that existing residential tenants make a minimum income of 100,000 per year. We have a few low clouds and high clouds as well. Mixed sky conditions but lots of blue, bright and sunny. The red flag warning is in effect for much of the bay area from late tomorrow night to early monday morning. Winds will gust out of the northnortheast, 35 miles per hour. Humidity will be as low as 6 at times. A beach hazard statement is in effect also. Large northwest swells, strong rip currents possible as well from saturday morning to late sunday night. The catholic nonprofit daughters of Charity Health system will sell its six california hospitals to Southern California based prime health care services, including its bay area facilities oconnor in san jose and st. Louise in gilroy and Seton Medical Center in daly city. Prime health care, californias largest forprofit system, will acquire all its assets and liabilities. A prime representative today promised the hospitals will stay open forever but layoffs may be inevitable. Based on their past history, we are not confident that they are going to be supported with the union in keeping the current staff we have here that has built a relationship and rapport with our community of all service types. United Health Care Workers president dave regan released a Statement Today saying we are not going to roll over and risk watching prime health care cut services, raise prices and lay off care givers like they have done in so many other communities in california and other states. A parade of ships arrived in San Francisco this morning. Hundreds of people watched along the waterfront to see them dock. This group of friends has made it a tradition to park their gmc classic motorhomes on Treasure Island every year for fleet week. The visibility wasnt ideal but they were excited to see the parade of ships make its way down the bay. The best thing is the flyover from the blue angels. That is the ultimate. Reporter the blue angels are the stars of fleet week. They cruise down, turned sideways like they were viewing our motor homes. Reporter these two decided to hang out here without their wives. She went with my grandkids to phoenix and that may be her whos calling. It is her. Reporter she wants to know what youre doing. The public will enjoy touring the ships, including the uss america, the navys newest Amphibious Assault ship which will be commissioned tomorrow. Others are here for training exercises. Some of the pilots on board the america participated in this urban search and rescue training on Treasure Island with San Francisco firefighters. As pilots, we get to see what the guys on the ground need from us, how we can assist them from the air. Reporter a group of latino First Responders was also here to get ideas on how to search for victims of an earthquake. A powerful quake hit the central philippines last october. This should give us some idea how to do things right. We might be doing things but we are probably not doing it the right way. This is another opportunity for us. Number one question for Spencer Christian is, what will the fog be like tomorrow afternoon, because lot of people want to see the blue angels. There is certainly going to be more fog in the morning than in the afternoon. By afternoon we should see mainly sunny skies with high clouds and there will be patches of fog near the coast, but it will be a sunnier day than today. Heres live doppler 7 hd. This is how things look right now. Lots of blue sky above but we do have areas of low clouds and some broken high clouds passing over as well as evidenced by this shot from the east bay hills camera looking at the western sky. A beautiful afternoon around the bay area right now. These are the forecast pictures. It will be turning quite a bit warmer tomorrow. The warming will peak on sunday. Remaining warm on monday. But theres a chance of rain on tuesday and wednesday with cooler, more autumnlike weather. Overnight look for patches of fog near the coast and some passing high clouds. Low temperatures mainly in the mid to upper 50s. Heres our fog forecast or our forecast animation. Overnight, we will see fog pushing up against the coastline. Notice the waves of high clouds passing over in the Early Morning hours. That pattern will continue through the Early Morning hours of sunlight. By midday into the afternoon, we will see sunnier skies, fog confined mainly to the coast and mainly sunny over the bay. As we look at the wider satellite image, you see as the High Pressure builds in to bring us our brief weekend warmup, it is going to be brief because coming not far behind is the cold air Mass Associated with this storm system moving out of the gulf of alaska that will bring us a little fall chill and some rain arriving next week. Lets set the maps in motion starting on monday. Notice the rain moving in on tuesday and lingering until wednesday, then late wednesday, we will see the rain taper off. We will have a little bit of wet weather which we badly need. But tomorrow, no wet weather in sight. Sunny skies, high temperatures in the south bay, mainly in the low to mid 80s, about 82 at san jose. 86 in los gatos and morgan hill. On the peninsula, look for highs ranging from mid to upper 70s up to about 80 at redwood city. On the coast, it will be foggy or partly foggy with highs ranging from about 68 pacifica to 70 at half moon bay. Downtown San Francisco will see a high of 71 tomorrow. 69 in the sunset district. North bay, nice and sunny and warm with highs ranging from 83 at novato to 86 at santa rosa and 85 at napa. East bay highs, 75 in oakland, 77 san leandro, up to 79 in fremont and 80 at castro valley. The inland east bay will be nice and toasty with highs in the mid to upper 80s, about 86 at walnut creek, 87 at fairfield and livermore, 88 at antioch. Heres the accuweather sevenday forecast. Notice sunday will be the warmest day in the forecast period. Still quite nice and warm on monday which is columbus day. We will see highs near 90 inland on monday, mid 80s around the bay up to about 70 on the coast. Then we get sharply cooler weather on tuesday and wednesday. Chance of rain tuesday into wednesday and its probably going to be a wet morning commute on wednesday. Bear that in mind if you are a morning commuter. It may be a slow go.
