They did block off those two lanes. Take a look at why they did that. There is a big divot here in the overpass, the embarcadero road overpass, and that is your view from the front. Now check out how it looks from underneath the overpass. Yeah, oh boy, what a mess here. You can see the damage done by the bed of the dump truck. It slammed into the embarcadero road overpass on southbound 101 at about 10 50 last night. Chp says the driver dropped off his load at the construction project, just up a little ways here on 101, and investigators say the most likely scenario is the driver just forgot to put down that bed and it crashed into the overpass, ripping it off the truck. Officers say he was taken to the hospital to be checked out for a possible broken nose. Crews are waiting on a Structural Engineer from caltrans to arrive on the scene from sacramento. Hell get up in a scissor truck, check out the damage, decide if repairs need to be done immediately or if they can wait. Chp says that an optimistic time line on all of this getting reopened is around noon. They say that is being optimistic. Reporting live in palo alto, matt keller, abc7 news. That is not the only commute issue this morning. B. A. R. T. Also having major issues. Lets go to amy hollyfield. She is at the hayward b. A. R. T. Station this morning. Reporter hi, reggie. They had a switching problem this morning so it looked like trains werent going to be running but were happy to report they have solved the problem. So these people that you see waiting here on the platform, theyve got a train scheduled to come here in 12 minutes readed to richmond and that would be right about the time, according to their schedule, that that train should be coming through here. So it looks like they have adjusted and things are going to be okay. They were worried, though, this was quite a scare that the morning commute was going to be crippled, that this switching problem was giving them problems, getting trains going, so it looked like the richmond line was not going to have trains running this morning, but they have fixed it and you can see that weve seen a train already come through here and scoop up the people who were here on the platform. These passengers have just arrived and are waiting for the next train which should be here on time. Reporting live in hayward, amy hollyfield, abc7 news. So we have that problem cleared up. Alexis, what else is going on . Man, what a rough start to our friday here. I just wanted to sit back and drink some coffee but that was not the case for the Early Morning commuters. I do want to take you back to where that crash is that matt keller is on the scene for. Southbound 101 at embarcadero road, just want to show you where this is on our traffic maps. Its in palo alto so the two left lanes are blocked. So, yeah, once we really get into the heart of it, we will certainly see some delays. Also wanted to show you on a map what amy was just talking about with the b. A. R. T. Delays. That switching problem was at hayward so none of those trains could move, basically from hayward south of there down to fremont, folks were having to go to bay fair to get around it but b. A. R. T. Is saying about a 20minute residual delay, amys saying maybe better than that. So we are on the mend as far as mass transit is concerned. Lets check in a mike nicco.
