61 in San Francisco. And 50 at the coast. Heres our sutro tower camera. Look at that. Yeah, not only sunny skies at our beaches, but some 60s and even 70s. So a look at 50 right now. Santa rosa, napa, as well as fairfield. Cooler morning out there for most. 56 concord. 55 livermore. And from emeryville right now you see its sunny. We will see tons of sun with highs near 90 inland. Carolyn. Thank you, lisa. We have developing news out of the east bay this morning. Fire crews are keeping an eye out for hotspots after a threealarm fire damaged three buildings in oakland. It started 7 15 last night on walnut street. Thats near foothill boulevard. There was a fire in a nearby warehouse that spread quickly to buildings on foothill. A church and a Realty Office were burned. Investigators are working to figure out how that fire started. In Contra Costa County a twoalarm fire has destroyed a singlestory home. This video is from contra costa fire. It happened around 10 00 last night on bay point on beach drive. No one was hurt, but the family dog has minor burns on his paws. The home is a total loss with 135,000 in damage. Downed powerlines may have started the blaze, but the cause is still under investigation. The impact of that devastating fivealarm fire in San Francisco will be felt for some time. Flames spread through several buildings. While there are no serious injuries, more than three dozen people cannot return home. Abc7 News Reporter Lisa Amin Gulezian told us it took four hours to contain the fire. Reporter thick smoke hung over Bernal Heights for hours. As fire ripped through six buildings at mission and 29th streets. Early indications are the fire started near the rear of coles hardware store. We do have products with chemicals, and we dont really know how it started. But unfortunately that might have helped spread it across the whole building. This was an aggressive fire. Firefighters had a hard time with it. At one point firefighters had to get out of the building and fight it from the outside. Within the hardware build we may be dealing with flammables. I believe the prevailing winds come outs of the west, flowing west to east, when the windows in the rear of the building broke, it added wind and oxygen to the fire that caused it to increase in intensity. The intense flames created so much smoke that a shelter in place area was issued for everyone within five blocks of the area. The owner of this restaurant watched the chaos around him. My biggest concern is the neighborhood and the people who live in the building, number one, and the safety of everybody around. So he opened up his kitchen to firefighters and volunteers. Because doing something made accepting this a little easier. Down the street a man started sandbagging a neighbors business. In this neighborhood every little bit helps. In San Francisco, Lisa Amin Gulezian, abc7 news. And thankfully no one was seriously hurt. But whats next for those who lost their homes . Abc7 News Reporter Sergio Quintana spoke to some who are staying at a temporary shelter. Reporter as the fire raged in the distance, residents trickled into the park lot. Kids, adults, seniors. All without a home and some in shock. What was it like leaving home . Stressful, scary. I woke up to a fire alarm, and i thought maybe somebody was playing with it so i went out to see what was going on and the Fire Department said get out you cant go back in and to see how much they can preserve as much of their life as possible against the mayor said he will work on helping them transition. Housing is a huge crisis, an issue in how fires destroy. Thats really my concern. The residents will have a temporary shelter for several nights. They will get timely updates whether they can retrieve their belongings, if any survive the fire. This is also the first fire since the new Good Samaritan ordinance. We need folks to step up and provide an affordable place. Under the new law landlord can troy a home with the same rent control price residents lost in a fire for two years and then rent controls would be lifted for that landlord. Reporter city leaders are shaking their heads in disbelief over a growing sex scandal in the Oakland Police department. At least 14 officers may have had an inappropriate more are implicated. And another scandal involving the homicide sergeant for allowing his mistress to help write police reports. A clearly disgusted oakland mayor put a fourth person, city administrator, in charge for now. Im here to run a police department, not a frat house. This City Council Member is ready to have federal regulators running opd. Too many years with that negative behavior and now im supposed to accept it, pay your salary and continue to do that and violate my children and families . Absolutely not. Young people volunteering scandals are a breach of trust. Young people volunteering said the unfolding scandals are a breach of trust. Im really sad about it. This Outreach Coordinator for sex trafficking victims is appalled. Even if they approached them, then they may get accused of messing around. Its kind of weird right now. The position that the cops are in dealing with the prostitutes. Not only will oakland have to recruit a new chief, but they will have to look long and hard at how they are recruiting police officers.
