San Francisco Police say theres an important clue that may help them track down the driver in a violent hitandrun crash. It happened earlier this week right next to San Francisco general hospital. Sergio quintana has the story. At first glance dana fernie looks like shes recovering from her injuries pretty well, but you take a closer look and she has a bruised eye and a pretty significant head injury. I dont remember anything except getting on my bike and then waking up in the hospital. Tuesday night at about 10 15 she was bicycling home on portera avenue near 22nd street when she was hit by a vehicle. The driver left the scene. Her boyfriend says a few Good Samaritans found her and walked her to the hospital. The negative thing is some person did something horrible and selfish but four people did something fantastic. Unfortunately investigators dont have any clues because no witnesses have come forward and there arent many surveillance cameras on the stretch. But there is an important piece of evidence. A sideview mirror found at the scene that may have come from the suspects car. We believe the vehicle that struck her is a dark color mini, would be the make. We believe that the model is the cooper. Dana had been an avid bicyclist. Shes thankful to those who helped her get to the hospital. Its very rare nowadays that people stop and help other people and im thankful they stopped and helped me.
