A toddler was killed after he ran into traffic outside of a store in union city. It happened yesterday in a safeway parking lot. The 23 month old boy ran out to the parking lot from his parents were shopping. The boy was hit by a slow moving car and ended up underneath the vehicle. The driver is cooperating with them about the trajectory. Bart partials are trying to take a proactive approach in dealing with last weeks mob style robbery take over. They have made an emergency staffing decision adding more Police Officers at the coliseum. Reporter many bart Police Officers are working overtime as part of an emergency staffing call ordered after this. 30 kids board my train, beat up someone, robbed them and then runoff the train. Reporter fridays rush hour commute came to a standstill after chp responded to a call about a vehicle collision and a man with a gun on highway 101 in the peninsula. Based on the statements that we have now, we know that this suspect was trying to use his firearm as a tool to steal the vehicle. Reporter sky 7 captured the suspects gun lying on the side of the highway. Witnesses shared cell phone video with us. This photo with officers raising their firearms toward the suspect. All three officers fired their weapons. Reporter police say witness accounts indicate those chp officers ordered the man to drop his gun. After many independent witness statements that officers took extreme measures to issue commands to drop that firearm, to attempt to deescalate and negotiate with that suspect. Investigators havent said much about their confrontation or what prompted the suspect to point his gun at the officers. But once they shot him, officers say they tried to revive the suspect. The driver of the other vehicle was unharmed as were the three chp officers. San mateo police are conducting an independent investigation as well as the d as office and california highway patrol.
