The 2 billion program finally able to secure funding, pushing the 153yearold rail line into the 21st century, by converting the Diesel Service into electric trains. Today, were recognizing a successful train, its about the future, about clean air, about efficiency, speed, and not sitting on the freeway for a couple of hours bumper to bumper. Lawyers for the suspect continued their efforts to force a federal ranger to testify in the case. Prosecutors claim that Lopez Sanchez used a gun stolen from a rangers car to shoot the 32yearold on a pier along the citys embarcadero. Federal officials blocked an attempt to make the ranger testify. The defense explained why the agents testimony about the condition of the gun would be relevant. We find it ironic that the Trump Administration is trying to prevent this person from testifying or telling the truth about what happened. So this is really about two things. Number one, whether or not the defendant fired the gun. And number two, whether he did so with implied malice. And thats what this case is all about. The judge gave the defense until september to complete their request with federal authorities. In the meantime, the case will continue next week when it could be assigned to go to trial court. Evacuations were lifted today near the delwiler fire. The fire has been burning for six days and covers an area nearly the size of San Francisco and oakland combined. Containment is up to 15 merz. 58 homes and 60 other buildings have been destroyed. The fire continues to move south. So far 11 million has been spent fighting this fire.
