Chris . Thank you. Breaking news. The world is reacting this morning to the death of a boxing legend. Muhammad ali died last night at the age of 74. He called himself the greatest and backed it up with a dazzling combination of speed and power and bravado that made you stop and stare. Ali who could float like a butterfly and sting like a bee passed away at an arizona hospital. In his prime he was perhaps the best ever in the ring, also a selfpromoter. His post career was marked by a battle with parkinsons disease. Abcs jim avila has more on his final days. Reporter are muhammad ali was taken from his home just outside phoenix by ambulance on may 31st at 1 00 in the afternoon. The ambulance call said a 74yearold man with respiratory issues needed transport to the hospital. Ali suffered from parkinsons disease and had a similar breathing problem that led to a similar hospitalization in scottsdale last year. His daughter leyla changed her facebook picture to a photo of ali and her and posted a message, thanking fans for their thoughts and prayers. Those thoughts poured out overnight as friends and fans alike mourned the loss of the boxer. A great boxer but far more reasons than just boxer. Reporter don king, the fighters former promoter said ali will never die. He stood for the world. Ali spent lots of time here in scottsdale supporting the fight Night Charity which supports research into parkinsons. He was last seen in public ap that charity bank wet in april. He said it was a privilege spending quality time with the remarkable ali. In 1998 ali gave spencer a portrait for his last day on Good Morning America signing it, to spencer, you are the greatest. Police ended a fivehour standoff yesterday afternoon using a flash bang to chase the suspect out of an apartment. Abc 7 news was at powell and pacific as he ran into a nail salon next door. The suspect went inside, violently fought with officers. He was covered in glass and resisted by biting and spitting at officers. Officers were slashed by the glass. There was blood on blood contact. The suspect was not seriously hurt. Stanford Public Safety officers are on the lookout for a man sneaking into the rooms of students. People have been victimized by having criminals running around for 24 hours with their clipper card running up fares. We took this issue up with the chairman of the metropolitan transportation commission. He said he would have that rule changed and, in fact, it has. As of this year each Transit Agency will wave fares charged for stolen cars. However, you would never know that by looking at the card holder agreement. It still says customers are responsible for solo rides. If they were serious, they can put it in writing. Until they dorks theyve lost me as a customer.
