There is a Historic Nuclear Agreement between iran, the u. S. And five other world powers. It was reached early today, gentleman kneea time pf after weeks of secret meetings and decades of diplomatic silence. But some loud objections are already coming from israeli leaders. Abc reporter has the details. Reporter u. S. Secretary of state john kerry shakes hands with diplomats. This deal marks an important step in what has been a cold history with iran. For what, 34 years, iran and the United States have not been able to talk to each other. At the white house, president obama said this agreement marks a promised new path for curbing Irans Nuclear ambitions. So if i took office, id make clear my determination to prevent iran from obtaining a nuclear weapon. In this sixmonth agreement, iran will limit its uranium enrichment. They will dilute any weapons grade fuel they already have. They will also open their facilities to increased inspections. In return, iran will see sanctions that allow up to 4. 6 billion in oil sales and 1. 5 billion in sales of other goods and International Community will not impose any new sanctions for six months. Israeli Prime Minister netanyahu has been the biggest critics saying tougher sanctions should continue but secretary of state kerry says ignoring iran would encourage them to grow their nuclear program. We believe you would wined up with an iran of bigger stockpiles, with more advanced center fusions. All sides in this negotiation, say this is the first step in a long process, and if iran does not israeli, the country could see even stricter sanctions. Abc 7 news. Secretary of state john kerry says there is no daylight, his words, between israel and the United States. Even though leaders from both countries will portray that iran agreement very differently. Secretary kerry arrived from london in geneva this morning during an interview with george stephanopoulos. Kerry says it does serve a security interest of both the u. S. And israel. We both want it make it certain iran cannot have a nuclear weapon. And while we are negotiating for the dismantling, theyll not grow the program in their capacity to threaten israel. Some congressional members from both parties are saying this morning they want to see a roll back of Irans Nuclear program. Not just a freeze of where it stands now. President obama will no doubt face questions about the deal when he comes to San Francisco tomorrow. He will meet with supporters during fundraiser at Sf Jazz Center and also visit the Recreation Center in chinatown to push for immigration reform.
