God bless america for him a few bumps and bruises is worth it if 50 inmates get a brief reprieve from the hopelessness of prison. Over 80 of angolas inmates will never be free again. Some dont even leave when they die. Theyre buried right here, inside the prison walls. Its like take you away from being incarcerated while being incarcerated. Reporter timothy gaye gaye and aldricklathan are both in for armed robbery. Is it something you guys look forward to all year . Yes indeed. Yes, sir. Ive got to try to change this because corrections means corrected deviant behavior. Im charged with correcting him. Thats my job. Its not lock and feed and torture and torment. Reporter so the rodeo in his mind is rehabilitation. Helping to give the inmates purpose. Okay. Even though i wasnt even shopping or anything. Actually talk to them as if they were human again. Reporter john sheehan has been locked up here for 28 years for killing his wife. Like for my i. D. I keep my i. D. Just like that. Reporter the rodeo has given him a chance to start a small leatherworks business from behind bars. I had to try to find meaning in my life and purpose for my life. And thats what ive done while ive been incarcerated. Reporter to be sure the rodeo does make money. Whoops. Stay with him. Reporter this year the event is expected to net close to 4 million. Proceeds to fund a host of inmate welfare programs that might otherwise be paid for with tax dollars. Hang on. Its a wonderful feeling. Ive got to be doing something right for them to like me the way they like me. Reporter marlon brown, known as tank, is doing life for murder. Perhaps its no surprise hes champion of the toughest rodeo event of all. Taken the chip 20 times. Thats a record. Reporter its called guts and glory. Here we go. Reporter barehanded inmates try to grab a poker chip thats tied between the horns of a pretty angry bull. When youve got a 2,500pound animal in front of you you cant be worrying about nothing else. Reporter this day was not tanks best. He was run over repeatedly. Whoa. Tank, try to reach in, get the chip. Reporter his last attempt got him thrown into the fence. Got to reach to get it. Reporter the chip flew off, into another inmates hand. He limped out of the arena with a smile. Take a lot. Im glad youre all right. Reporter like so many here he figured he had nothing to lose. Hell never be free, so why not go for it . Whatever you think of the oldest prison rodeo in the country there does seem to be no shortage of willing participants looking to feel free. There is a new installment of the bestselling series the dork diaries in bookstores this week. The novels have already sold more than 25 million copies worldwide. Chip reid has a look at whats fueling dorkmania. Thats for sarah. Reporter Rachel Renee Russell and her daughters erin and nicki call themselves team dork and they have millions of tweens wrapped around their fingers with the diary of nicki maxwell. Nicki turns dork into something to be proud of as she navigates the trials of middle school with her bffs zoe and chloe, spending most of her time trying to archnemesis and bully. Raise your hand if you are a dork. Can i raise two hands . Can i do jazz hands . Double dork . Yes. What is a dork . A dork is a person who may be considered unusual to others. Theyre very independent. Dork was a very derogatory term, and kids your feelings were hurt if you were called a dork. But since 2009 and the dork diaries coming on the scene its a term of endearment, its a term of empowerment, and its good to be a dork. Reporter its not just the word dork. Theres also dork alicious, adorkable, and dorkify. Ooh, thats my favorite. Thats when i get to draw people in dork diaries style. You dorkify them. Reporter and its all a huge hit with very young fans. Can you all guess who it is . You. Come on up and get your dorkification. Reporter who see themselves as dorks. Lot of life problems. People call me weird but i just youre helping Little School girls. We both thought we were just freaks, but it turns out there are a lot of kids who feel that way. And if i can help them through my trauma ill do it. Reporter as kids erin and nikki were both bullied by their own real mckenzie, and the books are loosely based on their experiences. This is middle school. So this is the inspiration for dork diaries. We made lemonade out of lemons. Reporter those lemons include the event that convinced rachel to put pen to paper. I was married 25 years, and i went through a divorce, and it was pretty traumatic. I basically lost everything, house, cars. Part of my motivation for wanting to write the book was to try to launch into another career and generate some cash. Reporter and it pays off, bigtime. So this is the house that dork built. Yes, it is. And sometimes i pinch myself to make sure im not dreaming. Reporter the writing is collaborative, but nikki is trusted with her namesakes image. What do her eyes tell you about her . I think these eyes tell you that she is funny and that she is outgoing and she is also warm. Reporter rachel says she made nikki white simply because thats how she imagined her when she started writing. Nikkis best friends are africanamerican and latina. All of the books have one big thing in common. You should treat people the way you would want to be treated. The golden rule. Exactly. The golden rule. And if you are treated poorly or bullied, number one, its not your fault. Number two, seek help from an adult. And number three, do not let it get under your skin because you should always let your inner dork shine through. The cbs overnight news will be right back. So why do i do it . Because i get paid. Und. On this side of the glove i know prostate exams can save lives. So, if you are a man over 50, talk to you doctor to see if a prostate exam is right for you. If we can do it, so can you. Blimp is on the ground in pennsylvania, but it caused havoc from the heavens and became a social media sensation. Heres chip reid. Reporter the unmanned blimp houses a stateoftheart radar system. After a threeyear test period its supposed to track the skies over the atlantic for incoming cruise missiles. Today what was being tracked was the blimp itself. Around 12 20 p. M. It somehow detached from its mooring at the armys Aberdeen Proving Ground in maryland. It drifted north through pennsylvania for hours, trailed by two f16s, while military minds tried to figure out a way to bring it down. It finally deflated and landed in a wooded area in montour county, pennsylvania in two parts first the tail section, then the rest of it. The blimp is massive, more than 230 feet long, and flew with thousands of feet of its steel tether dangling below, dragging along the ground, knocking into power lines and causing tens of thousands of outages. It was rainy and windy in maryland today but the tether, just over an inch thick, was designed to withstand hurricaneforce winds. In february, soon after it was deployed, captain matt villa told us he had full confidence it wouldnt fail. No, no. There is absolutely no concern. I mean, we really do not worry about the tether. Theres a one in a million chance of that tether breaking. Reporter but some who live near aberdeen like Tom Neuberger have long worried the blimp would get loose and crash into their neighborhood. And make americans better off because your greatness would replace the stupidity and incompetence of others. Thats right. Lets be honest. Is this a comic book version of a president ial campaign . No, its not a comic book. And its not a very nicely asked question the way you say that. Larry kudlow is an example, who i have a lot of respect for, loves my tax plan. Were reducing taxes to 15 . Were bringing corporate taxes corporate inversions. We have 2. 5 trillion outside of the United States which we want to bring back in. As far as the wall is concerned, were going to build a wall. Were going to create a border. Were going to let people in. But theyre going to come in legally. Well, first of all, i didnt say that the rate would be 10 . I used the tithing analogy. I understand that. But if you look at the numbers you probably have to get to 28 the rate is going to be much closer to 15 . 15 still leaves you with a 1. 1 trillion hole. You also have to get rid of all the deductions and all the loopholes. You also have to do some strategic cutting in several places. Remember, we have 645 federal agencies and subagencies. Anybody who tells me that we need every penny in every one of those is in a fantasy world. So also, we can stimulate the economy. Thats going to be the real growth engine. Stimulating the economy because its tethered down you have to with so many regulations youd have to cut government by about 40 to make it work with the 1. 1 trillion its not true. It is true. I looked at the numbers. When we put all the facts down, youll be able to see that its not true. It works out very well.
