Hes going to do everything in his pow tore stop every threat that we face. Its giving a green light to go over muslims. The council on American Islamic relations also known as cair. The other lawsuit was filed by state of washington. President trump has also promised to rid the country of all undocumented residents, including children who came to the u. S. With their undocumented parents. Theyre commonly known as dreamdream e ers. The question is are they next . This whaz been a persistent fear for dreamers and the families for years. If you think back to whats going on with the campaign, donald trump ran for president pledging, as we said, to return all undocumented immigrants to their original countries. Now with that victory, trump feels that, well, hes got the right to restruck our immigration program. There are limitations. The president can move only in limited areas previously legislated by congress. The deferred action on childhood arrivals or dacca is one such area. The program was initiated as an executive order by former president barack obama in 2012 which means of course that President Trump can easily revoke it with his own executive order. Okay. A lot of people dont really understand how dacca works. Can you explain it . Any child who came to this country illegally with his or her parents can apply. If the child was under the age of 31 as of 2012. Now many are not yet in their teens so theres a wide variety here. Assuming that the child is in good standing, for example, no felony convictions, the child can apply for reinstatement every two years. Those are the rules. As for now dacca places no limit on how long recipients may stay in the u. S. So you can see a wide range of ages with no ending until perhaps the next week or two. This is a serious concern for the bay area because if the president signs the executive order eliminating dacca, it could impact us here. The bay area the full of undocumented children. But in addition to that, youre talking about a state with 250,000 residents who reside in california. mostly of course these kids are with their parents. Above all, thats one third of the three quarters of a million located across the nation. So is the scenario here that if dacca is eliminated the feds have the pow tore immediately remove these children . What happens to the parents . Are we looking at a scenario where they could be separated . It appears that way. It appears that if federal authorities will be able to remove these children from the u. S. And because of existing legislation in many cases, it may be easier to remove them than their parents but it would partially fulfill trumps intent to restructure the immigration policy. Heres the bottom line, the president S Immigration Reform Efforts seems that theyre only beginning and it remains to to be seen whether undocumented children may be next and whether the president receives the pushback in the form of protests which of course you we witnessed this weekend. A lot of families will be holding their breaths. President trumpS Immigration ban affects people from seven countries. Our Investigative Unit dug into those facts. A new report issued by the Cato Institute looked at the number of americans killed by foreign nationals between 1975 and 2013. During that time no americans were killed by immigrants from the nations that President Trump has now temporarily banned from entering the country.
