Happening later, the Palo Alto School board is set to talk about controversial new Sex Education curriculum. Kris sanchez joins us to talk about why parents are so concerned about the program. Good morning, kris. Good morning. For parents, they say this is just much nife for seventh graders. They are pretty young going into seventh grade. But under california law, they have to get this sort of instruction. So the Palo Alto Unified School district is partners with health connected. According to their website, the middle School Program is ten hours of instruction over two weeks time. It includes gender roles, relationship, sexuality as well as reproductive health, including contraception and sexually transmitted diseases. Under californias Healthy Youth act, students have to get Sexual Health education once in middle school and again in high school. The courses have to cover the topics. According to the school board agenda, parents will have the opportunity to opt out of this if they see fit. And they will have access to all materials before their children do, but thats really one of the issues for parents. Health connected does not offer all their materials online because of proprietary reasons. So parents have to show up in person to look at one copy of that instruction curriculum. Thats one of the issues that will be discussed at the meeting tonight at 6 30 at the Palo Alto Unified School district. David morillo is expected to be arraigned on murder charges. Police say morillo got into a fight on friday evening with matthew bate outside of a hotel. Bate later died from his injuries. Life in prison, the sentence handed down to Antolin Garcia torres. The defense is expected to ask for a new trial because a judge recently overturned another murder conviction based on false evidence. Even if there is a new trial, Antolin Garcia torres will not face the same punishment. If there was a new trial, it would only be for life without the possibility of parole. The Death Penalty could not be reinstated since the jury did speak today and said this was not a death case. So he will never face the death penaltien if hes given a new trial. Clark says there is a new trial, it would likely be held another county given all the Media Coverage of the case. The hearing to discuss a new trial is expected in accept. Oakland Police Officers, according to one new study, reportedly speak less respectfully to black citizens during traffic stops. Stanford researchers looked at body cam footage of nearly 1,000 traffic stops. The east bay times reports the language used by officers showed differing levels of respect and formality depending upon the race and age of the driver. That study also found in general that officers spoke fairly respectfully to all people. A south bay family is grieving this morning after a freak accident involving a golf cart. Debra bed rtd from san jose died outside of sacramento. Chp said she was a passenger in a golf cart when the driver turned sharply, throwing her from the cart and onto the wine glass that she had been holding, cutting her badly. And morgan hill now at 50 degrees. Looking at some patchy fog along the coast and also for parts of the north bay as well. Were seeing the visibility at Half Moon Bay now down to three miles and also from santa cruz and coming through the mountain gaps over to san martin and gilroy, seeing some patchy fog there as well. As we go through today, all of that clears out and then well see the temperatures reaching into the low 60s or rather low 80s for gilroy and for parts of the east bay. We have anywhere from 84 degrees in danville to 68 degrees in oakland. Also 68 in san mateo. 65 in the Mission District today. And 78 degrees in novato. As youre making plans for the day, maybe youre heading out to the as game, they won last night. Our temperatures will be in the low 60s and dropping back to the upper 50s. Make sure youre wearing a nice warm sweater. The rest of the week, a chance of rain in the forecast. Yeah, pretty late in the season, but well see the highest chance for the north bay. Thats thursday into early friday morning before that system moves on. We may have the possibility of getting at least a tenth of an inch of rain for the north bay, and then it kind of fizzles out, which is typical this time of year. We may see light showers between thursday night and friday. And then well have a dry weekend with high temperatures in the 60s for San Francisco. Inland areas will have some warm weather today and tomorrow. Cooler down the rest of the week, and the weekend is looking really. Heading over to mike now, whats happening as you head out on the roads. Overall, things looking really good. A gradual build, but two key spots were tracking. Key spots where we typically see the build, north 87 through san jose. This crash still blocks the two left lanes, and we see a slow drive just as you make the split from 85 north through the area, so northbound 17, you might want to go past the interchange, take it back up toward 280 if you can, if youre working west of downtown. Meanwhile, the other issue were watching is the upper east shore freeway. Showing a build right now. We should see some recovery. The earlier crash just got cleared from lanes seconds before i made wi my way to the studio for the report. It will be our more gradual recovery because of the voolume. Were try to save you 25 minutes, driving from vallejo to San Francisco, instead of using the sloesest of all three routes, almost two hours, the blue one, the purple route across the buniche bridge saves you 25 minutes, even with the slow drive out of vallejo, that saves you about ten minutes as well.
