It grew to a fouralarm response from the Oakland Fire Department destroying this apartment complex that was under construction. Saturday evening, engineers brought down the large construction crane that was damaged by the fire and at risk of collapse. Most of the 700 people that are evacuated from nearby apartments and houses were then allowed back in the homes. However, 180 grand avenue, an address nearby, does remain closed after glass and other material affected by the radiant heat to fall down from the building and also a house next door to the fire site and another house with what looks like several you knitunits, tho locations remain closed. Getting the crane down was a big step because now as we were mentioning the investigators can get on that site behind me and start sifting through the debris to try to find evidence to indicate what caused the fire to start.
