He was bound for butte, montana, to drop off relatives when somewhere over valley county, idaho, he called reporting engine problems and asked to land in a remote strip of the idaho wilderness. He was was talking about not being able to hold altitude. He asked for coordines to the air strip and was given the information. They didnt hear anymore from him. The faa has issued an alert notice for the plane and could not confirm that it crashed. Smith is described as an experienced pilot. A neighbor spoke with abc 7 news a few minutes ago. Its a tragedy if it did go down and the fily of on the plane with him. I know dale usually travels on the ple by himself sometimes or with other business pele. Sometimes with the family.
