We have Team Coverage beginning with kpix5s kate cugerrin in San Francisco. Reporter the fbi had been looking for Ryan Chamberlain since they allegedly found explosives in his San Francisco apartment. A few hours ago they caught up to him here where they took him away in handcuffs. A threeday manhunt ended like this with Ryan Chamberlains face pressed to the ground of a crissy field parking lot. Multiple officers surrounded him trying to hold him down. Chamberlain reached out to the man shooting this video. He was asking for help. He saw that i was recording him and he said help me. Reporter morgan manos is an uber driver parked here taking a break when he first noticed the commotion and got out his iphone. They got him onto the ground trying to cuff him yelling at him to get one of his arms around his back. He was complaining that he couldnt, it was like hurt or stiff or something. Reporter San FranciscoPolice Officers moved chamberlain to the patrol car. Manos followed and moved in closer. You see officers pull off chamberlains beanie. He had a little blood on his face to the struggle. One officer had the gun pointed to the sky. Thats when they asked manos to move back. Can you move over there, please. How far . Get out of the way. I was just surprised the whole thing happened right where i was. Reporter you did see one police car in the video manos said immediately after several more rushing in including homeland security. Manos said it was a scene straight out of a movie. Close to the lets go to joe vazquez in russian hill. Why were the feds trailing this guy in the first place . Reporter were trying to piece this story together with frankly not enough facts, but we understand this begins with an arrest in Sacramento County about a month ago according to a source close to the investigation who tells us in the course of that arrest and investigation some evidence of collected that linked back here to this jackson street apartment where chamberlain lived. The feds around saying what evidence linked chamberlain to Sacramento County, but a source tells us the connection had authorities searching chamberlains apartment this weekend. Chamberlain wasnt home. The fbi conducted a nationwide manhunt for him calling him armed and dangerous but said he never actually threatened anyone. Chamberlains trail was cold until around 2 00 this afternoon when the fbi confirms what it called a credible sighting on haight street. Fbi agents quickly arrived and began scouring the neighborhood. They asked me if i saw the guy walking around. They had pictures on him in their hand. I havent seen him today, but i have seen him before in the past. Hes definitely a regular around the neighborhood. Reporter this Morning Hours before his arrest chamberlain posted online what appeared to be a goodbye note. So much was broken from this past year and a half i guess it was just insurmountable and the time is up. But chamberlain is alive and well tonight. This is him with his head down in the back of a police car being driven into the federal courthouse. Theres still a lot of questions. What exactly was found in his apartment . What about the explosives the feds said he might have in his possession . At first the cops were concerned they might be in his car, so they closed off part of crissy field and called in the bomb squad, but around 9 00 tonight they decided it was safe enough to tow the car away. Chamberlain as a political consultant, a lot of the folks in that area are scratching their head, as are neighbors out here in the russian hill area. There was something chamberlain posted today in social media that gave us some kind of hint why the feds might be here. He says that it was something he said online that attracted their attention and he described it as absorbing fuel for morbid fantasies. Whatever that means, hell have some explaining to do in front of the federal judge. Very cryptic and vague on what he meant, but clearly the fbi thought it was something because it wasnt like this was a police investigation. The fbi really took over and they were spearheading this whole thing. Reporter dozens were out here scouring his apartment this weekend. Clearly they know more than theyre telling the public right now. Thank you. You can read chamberlains entire note on www. Kpix5. Com. Orse.
