Later today San Jose CityCouncil Members are set to talk about just how much overtime officers are working in the city. Its costing the city millions of dollars. Later today City Council Members will talk about how to deal with a staffing crisis here at sjpd. If you remember, kpix 5 uncovered last month that officers are sleeping in rvs in a parking lot near sjpd just to get some rest between overtime and regular shifts. City leaders declared a state of emergency making overtime mandatory and pulling officers who dont usually work the street back onto the streets just to cover the streets, um, here. And so now we are finding out exactly how much overtime they are working. According to a new audit, it says that officers here are working 8 extra hours a week every, single week all year long. The normal days where would you have a couple of days off youre not having them off. Its not happening. Youre having maybe a day off in between. Reporter all right. So just for some perspective, according to that audit, sjpd officers are working 450 hours overtime every year. Compared to los angeles and San Francisco, much bigger departments and they are working 100 overtime hours. The mayor says the solution is to pass measure f which is on the november ballot. Two former Police Officers are due in Alameda County courtrooms today in connection with a sex scandal involving several Law Enforcement officers. Former Livermore Police officer daniel black is set to face a judge in oakland. He faces five misdemeanor charges. Former oakland Police OfficerLeroy Johnson is scheduled to appear at the fremont hall of justice. He is charged with misdemeanor failure to report child abuse. Both cases involve a teen who went by the name of celeste guap. Police at stanford are investigating a possible rape in a campus dorm. They say the student reported it on friday but havent been able to talk to the victim yet. New numbers show 39 sex assaults were reported at the University Last year which is higher than 2014. School Officials Say more victims now seem willing to come forward. All of this comes months after former stanford swimmer brock turner was sentenced for sexual assaulting a woman outside a party.
