Two people are dead after a van recover hit a samtrans bus on el camino real. Some of the bus passengers were taken to the hospital but their injuries are not life threatening. It appears the van had crossed over the center line and struck the bus head on in san mateo. The investigation is ongoing. Obviously we dont have the a conclusion as yet but the bus was operating northbound in a normal manner. The names of the two people who died havent been released yet. In the last few minutes, the scene has just been cleared for traffic. A father and son who were pulled from the water at San Francisco ocean beach died from their injuries. 47yearold jose garcia of turlock and 24yearold jose garcia, jr. , of merced, got caught up in rip currents on wednesday. Commute hour, traffic on the Golden Gate Bridge was up about 10 and by 8 a. M. , only up by 2 . Buses were crowded but not filled. Union leaders deny the work action backfired. Ferry boat captains dont want to impact commuters but they want to make sure everyone understands they will stand up for their livelihoods. Reporter a dozen bus drivers called in sing. About 300 buildings are in danger but thats down considerably from earlier this week. The fire destroyed 12 homes and nearly 70 other buildings. The east bay is looking to avoid a repeat of the Oakland Hills fire. Fema is being asked to fund the cutting down of tens of thousands of trees that could light up like matchsticks. Some say they create a huge fire danger and want to chop them down. Were not just talking a few. Theyre talking about cutting at least 70,000 trees with some neighbors saying theyre not going down without a fight. A look at the Berkeley Hills. Its easy to spot the eucalyptus growths along hillsides and ridgelines. Its absolutely beautiful. Reporter beautiful to some. But dangerous to others. A fire would spread rapidly like it did in 1991. Reporter many neighbors blame the eucalyptus for fanning the Oakland Hills fire that killed 25 people and destroyed thousands of homes. Very fire prone. Very oily, very dangerous. Reporter john kaufman lives near the hills. A dozen local politicians from state lawmakers to city mayors are now supporting his fight to cut down 70 to 80,000 eucalyptus and other nonnative trees in parts of the oakland and Berkeley Hills. They aring aasking fema to give them 6 million to chop the trees down. Its a slow process but were hopeful that fema will get the message. Rideout says they pass some of the money to the publication and keep the rest. The main purpose of this companys Business Model is to defeat consumers from overpaying. Reporter a lawsuit claims at least 60 companies do this kind of thing. By law solicitations that look like bills must clearly state this is not a bill. And youre under no obligation to pay. Which this one does on the back in small print. This is a ripoff reporter another with automatic billing for his New York Times subscription threw it in the trash. We contacted the company and got no response. The New York Times will issue refund customers who paid through unauthorized Billing Companies and remember if you have a Consumer Problem call us at 8885helpsu. Napa, fairfield, vacaville, numerous lightning strikes, heavy rainfall. Now we go to santa rosa, next windsor and rohnert park. The final stop will be toward the Delta Pittsburg and antioch.
