A big rig driver is dead after his truck ran off a highway and crashed near an apartment complex in Stanislaus County yesterday off highway 99 in turlock. It has a rocky history at times leaving officers unable to communicate during emergencies. Then during the radio glitch, opds computeraided dispatch system went out for three hours. Officers and firefighters used the database for addresses, phone numbers and information to respond to calls. During the outage, dispatchers had to write down incidents on paper. As far as the radios, opd says it went to a backup countywide system and everything was working within 40 minutes. One councilmember says thats not good enough. For me to hear that our radios are off and on sometimes is really it sets back Public Safety and holds back our Police Officers if they have no confidence in the previous radio system. The City Council Approved joining the countywide radio system in 2014. But the full transition has not yet been made. So i want to keep a watchful eye on the line of showers because our futurecast computer model does illustrate that we could see the potential of those showers moving into the Fairfield Area concord, clayton and walnut creek back through the trivalley by 10 00 this morning with this right here, possibly a thunderstorm that pops and any thunderstorm could contain that cloudtoground lightning and small hail as this goes west. Light rain showers anticipated at noon in San Francisco and look right there at san jose 101 into morgan hill, the potential of a thunderstorm, as well.
