In San Francisco, a multimillionaire has helped a group of nuns win a battle to build a soup kitchen in the ever changing mission district. The trouble started when the sisters were forced out of their tenderloin kitchen space due to rising rents. When they wanted to set up a new space for the homeless at 15th and mission, residents said no, thanks. Then life coach tony robbins stepped in and paid nearly a Million Dollars to buy the condo space they needed to get their charitable cause off the ground. This project was just a project of love. These sisters are just so dedicated. You can meet them you can see its not about just feeding people. Its about supporting people and being a better human being. We need to Work Together to help those people. The sisters havent said when they are moving into the Mission Location but they are excited to set up that kitchen as soon as possible. Right now, a rower from the bay area is on quite a journey. Matthew brown has been rowing across the Atlantic Ocean since december 14 along with three others. Thats their position, um, in red right there. Way ahead of their competition. They are about 450 miles from the finish in antigua and on pace to set the world record of 35 total days. Brown told us on Satellite Phone that sea sickness got the race off to a rough start. I was not able to eat or drink anything for, like, any more than 48 hours. I was trying to drink some water and i would just throw up everything in my stomach. And now were all feeling good, feeling strong, going into the finish here. So hopefully we can carry each other into this into contention for this record. Glad theyre feeling better. The race started in the canary islands. Moving to the Golden Gate Bridge if you are headed from marin county into San Francisco, that will be a quick drive across the span there. But because of all the accumulation that fell this week alone, we still have a flood watch warning in effect for the red highlighted area which encompasses the Sacramento Valley, backing through central sonoma for the lower Mark West Creek. And that is in Laguna De Santa Rosa until 10 30 this morning. We have flooding right now. This is all i can do. This is the best i can do. Its our live weather camera from the Transamerica Pyramid looking due east towards the bay bridge. [ foghorn ] boy, the fog has been playing tag. [ laughter ] we just saw the tiptop of the bay bridge begin to disappear there. [ foghorn ] we have the fog thats forming because cooler air mass is now slipping into the bay area overriding the warmer air mass. We have temperatures cool ever than all week in the 30s and 40s. Less than a half mile in the trivalley. Same in santa rosa, half mile visibility in napped. Be mindful of that heading out for your morning commute, plus the potential possibility of black ice on the roads. Bright blue skies, this weekend partly sunny and ceasessal and then i have a very active weather pattern thats setting up and if the computer models are correct and all stays into play, fetch of moisture all the way back to the Hawaiian Islands will begin to penetrate the bay area tuesday afternoon in the form of heavy rain and gusty winds. So right now High Pressure is building in and we have several days of drying. Its a good time from you in the floodprone areas to go ahead and prepare for the next major storm heading this way. Meanwhile, Central Valley fog advisory in effect for this morning for your getaway friday. Otherwise, 54 at stoc
