Hostages were killed. It has been a day of fast changing developments. Our bob orr is in washington talking to his sources in the u. S. Government about the terror suspects. Bob, there is reason to believe that these three terror suspects who were killed today in these two incidents were actually linked in some way. Reporter yeah. In some way is right scott. We know that coulibaly, the man who took hostages at the grocery store, was an associate of cherif kouachi, the younger of the two brothers that hit the magazine charlie. They apparently were in the same jihadi circle that was involved in trying to recruit radicals to go to iraq in the mid2000s. So they worked in the same circle. They adopted the same ideology. We dont know if they coordinated the attacks. At one point coulibaly said he made a demand that police leave the brothers alone or hed kill the hoss tichs. We cant say this was an organized series of attacks. It might have been one attack inspired the other. Nevertheless, they did run in the same circles. Pelley in another remarkable incident today, a French Television Network Claims that it spoke with the terrorists at each location on the phone before the police moved in. And one of the terrorists claimed that he was associated with alqaeda in yemen. What do we know about that . Reporter well, the man youre talking about there is cherif kouachi, the younger of the brothers. He told apparently someone purporting to be him told the television station that he was funded by the operations controller in yemen. He said that he was there on a mission representing aqap. We cant verify those claims but it is plausible because we do know from u. S. Authorities that his older brother said kouachi did spend time in yemen in 2011 which would have put him there at the same time that alackey was running operations. So from the beginning, these brothers claim they were on a mission and now there seems there might be some evidence that that is the case. Pelley and he was killed in a drone strike in 2011.
