The widow of a train engineer says she never expected any anything like this to happen. 62yearold glen steele died yesterday after being injured in a train crash. It appears he did everything he could to prevent the metrolink commuter train from striking a pickup on the tracks. Hes a good dad, real hard worker. Anytime they needed anybody extra, he always worked for em. The driver of the pickup could face more serious charges now that steele has died. 72 passengers have reached settlements with Asiana Airlines after that flight that crashed at sfo in 2013 in the summer. They sued the Airline Boeing on personal injury claims. The amount of money they are getting isnt released. Dozens of cases are pending. Three people died and 200 were injured when the boeing 777 crashed at sfo in 2013. High School Teachers in the San Francisco diocese are taking a stand against the archbishop. 80 of teachers and staff from the schools have signed a statement rejecting the new additions to the teacher handbook. Archbishop Salvatore Cordileone is adding clauses telling staff to reject adultery, masturbation, homosexuality and other behavior the church considers evil. The letter says it creates an atmosphere of mistrust and fear preventing sex assaults at colleges could start before students even walk on campus. Kpix 5 reporter ryan takeo joins us. Two sacramento lawmakers introduced the legislation requiring School Districts make violence prevention a part of the curriculum. The prosthesis is custom made for each individual at least the major components are. It is the very specialized prosthesis stolen that enables him to run on the track. Right now, clouds swiping away from the coast all because of a huge dome of High Pressure just parked over the western states. Not going to go anywhere very quickly. In fact, its going to enhance, its going to strengthen. And as it does so we will see the warmer temperatures by the weekend. For many years earthquakes posed a risk to the clean water supply that millions of us in the bay area depend on. That is, until now. Mark kelly has an exclusive look at the project designed to keep the water flowing even after the next big one hits. Reporter in serene sunol valley, a monumental feat of engineering is just wrapping up. As a result of this project, the bay area is safer in the event of a major earthquake. Reporter his job is to make sure you get water of as a quake from the hetch hetchy reservoir. But the Northern California train makes that a challenge. Our water system crosses all three major earthquake faults in the area. Reporter the calaveras, hayward and san andreas faults ticking time bombs making matters worse, all that hetch hetchy Drinking Water flows through one very old tunnel in sunol, a tunnel crews havent been able to inspect in nearly 50 years. That tunnel hasnt been taken out of Service Since 1966 because its so critical for the service to the customer. Reporter but thats changing. The sfpuc spent 340 million to build a brandnew second tunnel and we went down for a peak. So we made it 115 feet underground. Were standing on top of the tunnel and its pumping 63,000 gallons per minute of water to 2. 5 Million People in the bay area. David has headed the tunnel project for four anxious years. Like waiting for a baby to be born. Youre always tense and theres a sense of anxiety because you dont know what ittoexpect when youre mining a tunnel like this. Reporter david says it had hiccups like ground water flooding. Basically the fear was it would flood . Yeah. One of our tunnel construction headings, there was that danger. Reporter but the new second tunnel is done. And seismically safe lined with steel and reinforced concrete, able to stand up to, god forbid, that magnitude 7. This tunnel is critically important to ensure that we have a seismically reliable water system for decades to come. Reporter in sunol, mark kelly, kpix 5. Crews will spend the next several weeks inspecting the old tunnel to see if its still safe to use. 5 20 is your time. Employment for qualified social workers will grow by 19 from 2012 to 2022. Faster than the average for all occupations. Social workers must have compassion, empathy and fine tune listening skills to help clients cope with their problems. For entry level positions, a bachelors degree in social work is the most common requirement. Some employers may hire workers who have degrees in a related field such as psychology or sociology. Clinical social workers who diagnose and treat mental, behavioral and emotional issues must have a masters degree as well as two years of post master experience in a supervised clinical setting. They also must be licensed in the state in which they practice.
