You can see the delays building along 101 heading northbound approach marsh so give yourself some extra time if you are heading in that direction. You can even see the port of oakland this morning. A hint of stratus trying to work into the area but look gorgeous it is. Yesterday we had drizzle and low clouds and fog. With the clear skies the temperature is dipped to 48 degrees in santa rosa. That is the coolest temperature i have seen all week at this hour. It is 56 with the sunshine in san jose. 57 degrees in oakland. Pretty much in the 50s across the board. Satelliteradar we have a clear slot right there right now with the swath of some stratus thats been building around the san mateo coast. Earlier burnoff today resulting in warmer conditions. Average high in San Francisco 65. Instead, mid60s. San jose the low 80s and oakland above average, as well. Well have the sunshine in pacifica through moss into montara beaches including half moon bay. A little stratus hanging tight to daly city and colma. Otherwise 70s and 80s around the peninsula today. 82 in palo alto. East palo alto same. 83 degrees cupertino. Slightly warmer in campbell. Rose Garden District willow glen all in the low 80s with a bit of an afternoon breeze up to 20. East bay you will see the warmest temperatures up to 86 towards the delta, discovery bay, back through orwood where the docks are. 86 degrees in antioch and brentwood through tracy. 80s in vallejo, benicia, martinez. 60s in the north bay along the coast. 80s san rafael through terra linda and clearlake at 86. Weekend forecast is coming up at 18 minutes after the hour. Four years apparently wasnt enough for vallejo city leaders to decide whether cement plant should be built on the waterfront. The 32acre facility would be located in South Vallejo near sonoma boulevard. Last night the city council decided to put off the final decision. Instead members ordered the developer to come up with a better description of the project and complete a final Environmental Impact report. The city will then reconsider the proposal at the beginning of next year. Today, California Democrats are applauding a new single payor healthcare bill that passed the state senate last night. But critics want to know how the bill will be funded. Kpix 5s Jessica Flores joins us live in san leandro with more. Reporter california just got one step closer to a single payor Healthcare System. Its expected to cost 400 billion but the bill doesnt include a way to pay for it. Under that system, the government would replace insurance companies. The government would negotiate prices for all of california. Supporters say it means big savings for families. The California Nurses Association was the lead sponsor commissioning a study that found californians could save billions of dollars under the system. In part because of lower drug prices and because they would no longer have to pay anything. Were the bill of course is in the bill is in response to the repeal and replace and repeal and replace obamacare. It got heated. The bill would require Law Enforcement agencies to report the number of Sexual Assault kits they collect and justify their decisions when they dont collect that evidence. One Advocacy Group estimates nearly 9,000 rape kits are waiting testing in california. The trial is now under way for a man accused of killing two women and injuring a store owner during a dispute in a San Francisco jewelry store. 27yearold barry white allegedly slashed the throats of two women at jewelrymart on brannon street some four years ago. He faces 16 felonies including murder. The jurors now must decide two things whether white is guilty and was sane at the time of the murders. Whites Attorney Says a near Fatal Shooting left the defendant with a significant brain injury white pled not guilty by reason of insanity. Time now 6 07. Thats right. Hey, we have traffic and weather coming up at 6 14. Thank you. Butte county searchandrescue teams have called off a search for a hiker swept over a waterfall. They believe the man was swimming before he was swept over Feather Falls east of oroville yesterday afternoon. That waterfall is 410 feet tall. Yesterday cal fire crews hiked about five miles to the falls but didnt locate the man. Two helicopters also surveyed the area. Where he was at he was just above the falls in the water and theres no place for you to grab on. Cal fire crews considered sending men to rappel down the falls but decided it was too dangerous because of low visibility. Now, this is not the first time this happened. In 2012 a hiker fell down the falls after getting caught in the current. Today San Francisco mayor ed lee will announce the beginning of repairs on San Francisco potholes. Kpix 5s anne makovec is live in the Richmond District where the repairs are set to begin. Anne. Reporter yeah, this is something of course we have a problem with here in San Francisco and all around the bay area. Our roadways really are a mess potholes all over the place even driving out here. We were sort of doing that straddling of the lines. The good news is help is on the way. Over the next two years, mayor ed lee has committed to spending 90 million for pothole repairs, repaving streets and striping. The metropolitan Transportation Commission a bay area wide agency has rated San Francisco city streets as fair but distressed and in need of a combo of rehabilitation and preventative maintenance. Well, talking to drivers today when you mentioned the roadway conditions, you get frustration. I drive a volkswagen beetle. If i drove a truck it would be different. Its weatherrelated. And for some reason california doesnt keep up with roads or anything like that. Reporter so far, here in the city, they have been focusing on short term patchwork. You need to do more to protect it. Mayor ed lee is going to be fixing a pothole. Im sure he will have help. Thats later on in the richmond. But another note on this subject. It can really cost drivers a lot when it comes to damage to your cars because of these potholes from flat tires to other mechanical issues. Right now, we are tracking some problems for folks making their way along 101. Well start with this positive. 101 at 380 this looks okay. This is just north of sfo. Not too bad. But just south of here, we are tracking this crash 101 right near marsh road and that has traffic backed up beyond 84. At this point we are seeing speeds in the 20s. Cruising speed. Its about a 15minute commute from 237 on up towards highway 84. And it is in the yellow. Were tracking another crash on 101. 101 a hot spot this morning right near story. Its blocking the onramp to northbound 101. So chp heading out there. Heres a live look at your ride heading through oakland. Looking good as you make your way from 238 on out towards the maze. Still no delays in the green a 16 Minute Travel time. Bay bridge toll plaza, slow, stop, go. You know the drill. This is in the yellow 20 minutes from the maze into downtown San Francisco. We do have that swath of clouds that continues to build and lift up from the san mateo coast all the way into inverness this morning.
