Here is the district contract proposal as it stands and a nine percent pay raise and workers have to contribute another 2. 1 on the program. Now the union on the other hand wants raises on 11 percent and additional 1. 5 contribution to the health care. This is a debate that were seeing all over the state up and down. Its interesting because this strike was not a full strike. We thought that the bus drivers and everybody else was going to go out as well. Yeah, thats what was amazing. It was affecting about 4500 commuters but the traffic was only ten percent over normal. I think that maybe the result of the bar strike that did not go over well with the public. Rather than the full shut downs the partial shut downs and we will see partial and it will be inconvenient and it will not be cripple. Jan, by the way while were on the subject. Yeah, Court Workers are on the verge of their on strike possibly. Theyre fighting over the pay and benefits and the union has been negotiating and theyre nowhere near a deal. Yeah, a lot of it is the health care contribution. Anybody out there whether youre an Public Employee or have your on plan, were seeing the rates go up and o up and up. A strike would hurt when it got to the court system because theyre already backed up. We will see if they come to a deal. All right. Now were moving down for a different problem. How about this. An all you can fly airline is costing too many headaches. Yeah, theyre going to be holding a Community Meeting about it this week. This is a problem and the airline surf air has been taking off from the San Carlos Airport and flying over for about a year. People who live there have been raising hell and saying that its getting too noisy and getting worse. They pay 1,400 for unlimited flights and the company Just Announced that theyre ordering 15 more planes for the fleet. In many ways this is all you can eat buffet. The worst that you can do is run out of air. A group is formed to buy them quieter planes. Its called calm the skies and meeting on tuesday night. Well, talk about a problem commuter problem that most people do not get unlimited flights. Everybody has to get to work somewhere and somehow. Thats a meaning to mass transportation. The threat could be a terminal project and another big project thats got complicated. Find out how San Francisco could be making thousands of dollars off what is supposed to be free parking. But it has mushroomed into a mae project with highrises and an underground train station. In return for being allowed to constrt the highrises. The builds agreed to help pay for the transbay center. Now they s the 200 Million Dollars they wants is too much. Youve got too many people floating around in the clouo make any rational deal. Developers brought in former mayor willie brown to help broker a new deal. Only to have it fall apart. The result now is a giant game chicken the developers can up the funding. While they can block them from opening their buildings. Joining us San FranciscoSupervisor Scott Wiener w also sits on the metropolitan Transportation Commission f the bay Area Supervisor e have quite a stand off here anne does weather anne does weather anne does weather anne does weather are really were important for the region. We up zone and we are allowed higher limit for buildings with the understanding that they you would faye the fees and extend the train. Thats all that were asking for. They have exploded and thats what were thats where we want to move. Well the idea it seemed that it was very very ambitious and raised the question should we and can we do ambitious things like this . It was going to be paid for this part by allowing developers around it to build and build and build and contribute. It was a domino and one fell and you now theyre all seeming to fall. Did we over reach and are we expecting too much . Not at all. The whole purpose of creating the limits and increased density in the downtown area is because we would have a complete neighborhood and all the you supports infer structure and the development would pay for that supporting infer structure. Nothing new and its in everyones limit to get this bill to get the center done and to get the train downtown. And already its over budget and taking money from one to feet into the other. We saw this in the bay bridge that the cost of it just went through the roof. Now we have continuing problemmings with the books. Are these projects too big . No, not at all. If we ever get to the day in california where were not building big important transportation projects, thats a problem. These are so important for the economy and quality of life and every major transportation project in the history of human kind has ended uptaking longer and being more complicated and more expensive than we thought. The golden gait bridge took longer and it had 100 lawsuits surrounding it. Its nothing new and were going to work through it. For us paying for it why is it that after this time all that you can say about the project is that its not going to be done on time and schedule that you thought that it was and its not going to be done on the cost schedule and then when its done youre going back and redo it. Well, we have had the problems on the bolts and bay bridge. A lot of these are redone the way that we thought that it was going to be. The cost issue when we get into an economy and structure cost go up and things get more expensive and we just have to get it done. Its not optional. Its so important for the future. What happens if you do not get the money from the developers . What happens to the project . I think that we will. The argument is very strong. Thats not just the funding for the project. Were going work hard for years to put together the funding to get the train downtown. So even with the Development Money youre still going to be coming back and asking for more . We have to put together the funding over time to get the train downtown. Yeah, the high speed rail is not here yet. Yeah. Another massive transportation project. Sometimes i think that if we had some of the fights that we had today back in the 50s or the interstate highway system was built, we have to get the Transportation Systems done. Okay. So what does this do in terms of the Obama Administration and the Justin Department to have the chef Law Enforcement agency say that i want out of here and leave everybody in a stance . Well, its a lame duck stance. One thing that that i heard was that you see interesting. Well, it would have been great for her but you now she got the job. Yeah, she would not just drop that. So basically this job no matter if offered to a californian is not a political step up is that what youre saying .
