As you wake up in the west, trouble in chicago snarling air traffic from los angeles to seattle to new york. Ohare, midway airports, two major hubs, stopped all planes going in and out this morning. You can see almost no flight activity over the chicago area right now. This all happened because of a fire at an important air Traffic Control center in aurora, illinois, outside chicago. Our chicago station wbbm is at Ohare Airport where thousands of passengers are stuck. Susanna, good morning. Reporter you can imagine, there are a lot of frustrated passengers here at ohare, people waiting around. On the phone. Trying to rebook their flights. That counter, the American Airlines counter, is completely full. A long line of people waiting to rebook their flight. If you look at the flight board, there are a lot of red. Specifically san diego, San Francisco and los angeles flights are canceled, at least here at Ohare Airport on American Airlines. There have been at least 102 flights out of chicago on aa canceled this morning. Were told they will remain canceled until further notice. Now, ground stoppage is all because of an faa tower out of aurora, illinois. There was a fire there this morning. Theres been a Ripple Effect because that tower controls flights in and out of both chicago airports. Midway and ohare. And until further notice, until the faa gives the clear and lifts that ground stoppage, people here will have to wait around. Charlie. Thanks. Derek jeters final game at Yankee Stadium featured a thrilling and most fitting finale. He got the gamewinning hit in last nights victory 65 over baltimore. He overcame his emotions to provide fans with the perfect ending. It was one of the greatest moments in a brilliant 20year career and Mark Strassmann is at Yankee Stadium where a capacity crowd cheered jeter from start to finish. Mark, good morning. Abadi said captured isis militants told iraqi intelligence agents about a plan to launch a terrorist attack on subways in the United States and paris. There is no specific credible information about any specific threat to the new york city subway system. The mans appeared in three grim beheading videos standing behind james foley, Steven Sotloff and david haines. Comey warned isis would strike the u. S. Homeland if it could, but he says he worried more about the Al Qaedalinked group the khorasan group. Khorasan made up of al qaeda veterans has recruited operatives. We know theyve experimented with undee dtectable bombs. Khorasan was working towards an attack. Officials didnt know how close khorasan actually was to launching an operation. In comeys words, he said, its the kind of threat you have to operate under the assumption that its tomorrow. The u. S. Has identified about 12 americans who were still in syria, fighting with various terror organizations. More americans, in fact, have already come home from syria. The suspect in the case of the missing university of virginia student could return to the state as soon as today. Still, authorities may not be any closer to finding Hannah Graham. Wyatt andrews is in charlottesville, virginia, where the 18yearold vanish inned nearly two weeks ago. The police here admit they are just about out of leads in the search for 18yearold Hannah Graham. Their main suspect in this case, Jesse Matthew, will soon come back to virginia, but investigators say they still need more information about the night miss graham went missing. Law enforcement officials in virginia await matthews return from texas where he was arrested wednesday. They hope to question matthew but have also asked the public for more help. There is a large significant block of time between the time that we know Hannah Graham disappeared and the time that disappearance was reported to us. We need to shrink that gap. Reporter for now, police say they remain unable to talk to their suspect. He invoked his right to remain silent and his right to counsel. We cannot reapproach him until such time as he chooses otherwise. Reporter cbs news confirmed 12 years ago when matthew was a student at Liberty University in lynchburg, virginia, he was investigated on a complaint of rape. William was matthews teammate on the football team. There were a few rumors that the sex was aggressive. Several different rumors that were not verified. Reporter no criminal charges were filed but he says matthews was dismissed from liberty which, as a christian university, has a strict code of conduct. He broke a rule at Liberty University, which was engaging in sex. Reporter when Hannah Graham disappeared on september 13th, she became the fifth young woman missing from charlottesville over the last five years. All five vanished within a few miles of route 29, the main highway that runs through the city. A Law Enforcement source tells cbs news that the fbi and local police will try to determine if the evidence in this case connects matthew to any of the others. So far, we have been unable to talk to matthews attorney for comment, but his friends, his family, his coworkers, uniformly describe him as friendly and outspoken and express shock hes been charged with any crime. One of president obamas most controversial cabinet members is leaving. Attorney general eric holder will step down when a replacement is confirmed. Were learning more about the Police Shooting of an unarmed man in South Carolina. It happened during a traffic stop this month. A state troopers charged with assault. Prosecutors say he acted recklessly. Now, a look at what the wounded mans attorney is saying. Reporter trooper groubert approaches jones at a gas station for allegedly not wearing his seat belt. Seconds after asking him for his drivers license, groubert opened fire. The dash cam video shows the troopers vehicle approaches jones suv at a shell station on september 4. Can i have your license please . Get out of the car. Reporter jones was shot in the hip. The 35yearold was returning home from work and was unarmed. Get on the ground. I was just getting my license. Reporter this is la var jones lawyer. Mr. Jones was only trying to comply. He was trying to do what was right. He tried to explain that several times after the trooper told him why he had shot him. Reporter the South Carolina department of Public Safety immediately opened an investigation into the shooting and last friday fired the 31yearold trooper. In a statement, the Department Said grouberts actions quote, rose to such an extent that his employment with us must be terminated and that protocol was not followed in this case. Records indicate he joined the force in 2005, but left in 2009 to work for the Richland County sheriffs office. That year, groubert was involved in a Police Pursuit following a traffic stop near a bank. The suspect opened fire on police. Groubert wounded the suspect and was awarded the medal of valor. Groubert was released on 75,000 bond. If convicted, he faces 20 years in state prison. Lavaa jones is recovering from his injuries at home and is expected to make a full recovery. More troubling allegations against the nfl. A Law Enforcement official claims he sent the video of ray rice punching his bride to be to nfl security chief jeffrey mi miller in april, according to the soeshlassociated press. Miller responded thursday in a statement saying, quote, i unequivocally deny that i received at any time a copy of the video, and i had not watched it until it was made public on september 8th.
