Public Health Officials in new jersey are investigating whether a 1yearold has the disease. An Ohio High School student is also being tested. It could be the first case in both states this year. As it stands right now, 150 cases across 14 states. That including illinois. Five babies from a Day Care Center in suburban chicago have the disease. Dean reynolds is in palatine. Good morning. But all unvaccinated children and employees have been asked to stay home for three weeks to try to keep this highly contagious virus from spreading. Public Health Officials are trying to pinpoint the source of the Measles Outbreak at this illinois Day Care Center. Its insane. After five infants all under the age of 1 and too young to get the vaccine were diagnosed with the disease two of the cases are confirmed while doctors await the results of lab tests and Officials Say up to ten more children may have been exposed. This is a highly contagious disease, theres likely to be more case ss illinois first case was this week involving an adult male. There are 150 reported cases in 14 states many linked to an outbreak at disneyland in california at this time there is no identified link to these measles cases and the adult case reported in suburban cook county or the multistate outbreak of measle associated with disneyland. The wave of new cases has reignited the debate over child vaccination. 20 states allow parents to opt out of vaccinations for philosophical reasons. I think its a little disturbing that people have decided not to vaccinate their children or themselves and that these diseases are allowed to spread in the community. All infants are now being taken care of at home and the Autism Advocacy Group Autism Speaks has now weighed in on the whole vaccination issue saying vaccines do not cause autism. We urge that all children be fully vaccinated. Thats important to hear. This morning new questions about whether anthem insurance did enough to protect customers data from cyber thieves. Chinese hackers may be behind the company kris van cleave shows us why they may be targets for hackers. This attack involved custom malwear which has been used in state sponsored attacks. Cyber krimials are going where the money is. Its 20 to 40 times higher than a credit card. I was spending all my free time trying to stay ahead of the perpetrators. William lutz has spent the last month ss working against thieves who stole his personal information. It was stolen when hackers broke into his database last year. There was a period of time when every couple of days a credit card would have to be changed because they figured out my password. Now those affected by the anthem cyber attack could be subject to the same type of stolen identity nightmare, a very sophisticated external cyber attack compromised the records of 80 Million People including names, birth dates and Social Security numbers. Theres an arms race going on between cyber criminals and those of us in health care that are trying to protect the integrity of the health care information. Last year 42 Cyber Attacks targeted Health Providers compared to just five in 2010 prompting the fbi to issue two warnings to the medical sector in 2014. They also warn on the black market criminals will pay more for personal Health Insurance sometimes called thi. Credit cards can be 5 or more where phi records can go from 20 to 60 or 70 per record. In contrast to credit card information, this type of data cant be easily changed and is often used to build a strong fake identity or sold to criminals for insurance in billing scams. Anyone affected should change their passwords and pull their credit reports frequently. Kris thanks. Today merkel and hollande will carry to moscow new proposals for ending the fighting in ukraine. Few details are being made public but it does contain outlines of a ceasefire and road map for a permanent political solution to this war which has now killed more than 5,000 people most of them civilians. But while the talks go on rockets pound the fields in Eastern Ukraine. Ukrainian troops 40,000 of them are slowly losing ground to russian backed separatist fighters who have plenty of weapons and ammunition from moscow. Today saw rare local ceasefire along the road leading out of the worst of the fighting a stream of cars and buses filled with refugees pored to safety fill with people and what remained of their shattered lives. Since then the bay area hasnt seen a single drop of rain making it one of the driest januarys on record. Even though this storm wont solve californias drought problems, it could provide some insight for scientists. And this type of weather pattern is typically called a pineapple express. It is an Atmospheric River that funnels precipitation from the Hawaiian Islands right here to california and scientists will be flying through this storm over the next couple of days with sensors to try and get a better understanding of the rain that supplies californias water. Brian williams has anchored nightly news broadcast for a decade. On wednesday he said he was sorry for saying his helicopter was hit by a rocketpropelled grenade in 2003. That never happened. It is an account thats changed over the years. Please welcome command Sergeant Major tim terpak and Brian Williams. Last friday night, it was a tribute to a soldier who Brian Williams credits with saving his life during the invasion of iraq. When the helicopter we were traveling in was forced down after being hit by an rpg. Our traveling nbc news team was rescued, surrounded and kept alive by an armored mechanized platoon from the u. S. Army 3rd infantry. Very quickly williams tale was disputed by soldiers themselves. Travis trittton writes for stars and stripes. We received a tip on a thread on facebook. Hes actually taken a big role in veterans groups and charities that support veterans who are coming home from the wars. And now members of the military saying that theyre really disappointed creates a very difficult situation. This is how williams originally reported the incident in 2003. Williams told a similar story in a 2008 blog writing the chinook helicopter flying in front of ours took an rpg to the rear rotor as all lowflying chinooks took fire.
