Reno. Police responded to a fight shortly after midnight wednesday. In the 1400 block of east 4th street. When they arrived. They found 21 year old Michael Banquicio with stab wounds. Banquicio was taken to renown. But later. Died from his injuries. 3 Samantha Police say the suspect. 40 year old victoria sweeting was found at an apartment complex in south reno after leaving the scene. Officers say after they found her. She admitted to stabbing the victim. 3 samantha sbanyone with information regarding the homicide is asked to Contact Reno Police at 3342115 or secret witness at 3224900 3 bill in more crime news. Carson city Sheriff Deputies have identified the two suspects who burglarized a month. Carson city Officials Say the first suspect is 36 year old keith gearhart. Gearhart is about 6 feet tall and 180 poundsofficials also say the second suspect is 23 year old kayla robbins. Robbins is about 5 feet tall and 130 pounds 3 bill Officials Say both suspects used this 2010 black kia soul with nevada plates of 76a501 to flee the scene. Also. Concerning repairs at a Washoe County middle school. Even though county schools will be back in session on monday. Pine middle school wont reopen until two weeks later. There was a Water Line Break that caused extensive flooding damage over winter break. And its now undergoing repairs. Last night. Parents got a Progress Report. And alternatives for their students. Theres about a thousand and thirty students who go to Pine Middle School. And parents need to find a place for them for an extra two weeks. Local organizations. Like the meadows and the Northern Nevada Food Bank are stepping up to offer alternatives. 3 its important for us, because if theyre not going to school, i mean, theres another place for them to go so they can be active and do more learning activities as well. samantha ninety five percent of Pine Middle School was flooded due to a water main break. It is now undergoing Asbestos Abatement and repairs. The district says it is kind of a mixed blessing. Pine is one of the older School Buildings and now. It will have a new floor, carpets cabinets and paint. As for instructional time, state law will not require makeup days due to the unforseen repairs. The district will make up as much as they can, by adding 15 minutes each morning through spring break. 3 sam the district says its on schedule to reopen Pine Middle School on the 25th. But a carson city judge is being asked to put a wilson is now weighing oral arguments on whether the program violates the states constitution. The lawsuit was brought forward by parents concerned that the School Choice program will take public money away from Public Schools, harming the Public School system. The esa program would give around 5 thousand dollars per student to qualifying families who can then use that money for private school, home schooling or other approved Educational Needs or programs. This is the third legal challenge the program is facing. Two are constitutional challenges. 3 as a parent i really feel this legislation is going to take money out of the Public Schools which are already under resourced and under funded and it needs to stay in the Public School. It is public funds. 3 bill nevada solicitor general Lawrence Vandyke says the plantiffs must prove harm and since the program has not been implemented. Their concerns are a source of speculation. No word on when the judge will issue his ruling, but both sides have said they will appeal.
